Boomer Hate Thread

It's especially frustrating when you consider that in a lot of first world countries, old people can travel on public transport for free, but no, they'd rather put everyone else's lives at risk.
I’m going to sperg for a minute about this — I work in a field where I have to deal with a lot of old fucks. These people don’t know where they are half the fucking time, can’t see well enough to fill out forms, constantly say shit like “I left my glasses at home,” can’t barely walk, terrible shaking. Then they, without fail, get in their big ass trucks and drive home.

I'm beginning to suspect boomers are going through some kind of farmcore trend amongst themselves right now or something. I've got a rich oldhead boomer unc who also in the last 6 months suddenly started talking about buying a farm. Fucker grew up in the middle of south philadelphia and doesn't know a tractor from his own ass & spent the last 40 years hiring juan and pablo to cut his suburban lawn for him, but now suddenly wants to be a farmer? The fuck?
All of them do this. They want to live out this fantasy in their head and do nothing to support it, or put none of the effort into it and contract it all out to other people. If they wanted to live on farmlands they should've stopped all the farms from being bought up decades ago and actually support local farm to table operations than these huge conglomerate corporations that have turned the farming industry into the clusterfuck it is today. Boomers are so fucking retarded when it comes to future planning it's insane to me. They complain about whatever they read on Facebook or watch on MSNBC, CNN, and Fox and do fucking nothing about it. I'm betting your uncle has never even attempted fishing even once.

Hit the nail on the head. That was his answer as to who would actually physically farm the land. "OH I AM JUST GONNA RENT IT OUT, I READ A CNBC ARTICLE THAT SAID YOU CAN DO THAT!" As if a farm lease is just as simple as renting a cheap apartment out to some thirdies.

Typical starting BS engineer wages in the US (for non-retard degrees in non-retard locations) are about $75k/year. It varies a bit depending on the field, employer, and location but ~$75k is a good estimate. 10 years ago I would have told you $60k.
That's almost EXACTLY what my Dad made as a starting out engineer in the mid 1980s.

EDIT: ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION

I've seen job postings for $10k less a year at some places......
Consider as well, for comparison, that the wages I'm quoting are in CAD. 55kCAD is 40kUSD.
Dear God that's actually insulting
The boomers in my life are also up to boomerish shenaningans, some expected, and some pretty out there.

A lot of Boomers I know have weird complexes about food and attribute them to living their childhoods in a farm. As a city slick, I never pegged rural=borne people to be such faggots? Things like never eating pork, except bacon.

Another thing is on the subject of downsizing; when asked, their plans rarely make sense (if they even have any).

Things I've heard:
- Selling the house on a acreage to buy a new acreage to somehow build a new house (they hate yardwork btw)
- Downsized house needs to have a BIGGER space for the hobbies they already ignore
- Not downsizing until they sell the house for MILLIONS (that is not gonna happen)
- Not downsizing because what if 6+ people come visit and want to stay over?
- Downsizing to a farm (????)
The pork thing is due to a fear of trichinosis (or whatever that pof disease is). That's why Dad always cooks steak, pork chops and so on well done.

Speaking of "downsizing" a buddy's parents UPsized from a 3,000 sq foot home to a 4500 square foot home after retirement.... Oh and they have a room literally dedicated to Legos 🙄

This, they're visibly decaying with shitty mobility, eyesight, horrific health (from DECADES of drinking and smoking and eating shit and being fat) and they still think they're gonna live 20+ years 😤

The thing I hate most is how they never took time to raise kids properly then complain the kids are too lazy and don’t know shit. “You raised em asshole.”

>New india x EU trade deal
>Millions of indians to Europe
>Boomers are still talking about only importing the "top talent"
>Boomers talking about supporting healthcare and service jobs
>None of them mention average IQ of 76
>None of them mention fake papers
>Majority of boomers voted for pro-green and pro-immigration parties
I fucking hate boomers, my future got destroyed because boomers wanted to extend their life a few days more.

You'd need to crash interest rates or triple down on immigration to get higher housing prices. I take this as an indication that the interest rates are supposed to fall.
Trump's been feuding with J Pow to lower interest rates since the start of the second admin. It seems like he just outright wants to replace Powell now to bring interest rates as low as humanly possible.

Problem with lowering interest rates is that it results in hyperinflation from the acquisition of fixed assets with monopoly money. It seems great on paper until everyone's just playing Canadian real estate tycoon. Low interest rates, ironically, suppress investment into productive assets and favor rent seeking. It's boom economy for retards.

Presumably Powell has told Trump something similar, but the Commander in Chief remains unconvinced.

Trump wants rates lowered for other macroeconomic reasons too but housing in the USA is gonna be a bit fucked for a few years.

It's already a buyers market in a few major metro areas and Austin, TX has literal falling rents now that their housing stock was essentially doubled from 2020 till now and the population stabilized or dropped.

Also it'll go off a cliff in ~10-15 years as all of the greedy fucking boomers keel over and we suddenly have a McMansion surplus.

I highly advise anyone in the housing market not to buy a McMansion. These things are the last thing the market wants. 4 bedrooms is already pushing the envelope for the modern family with 2, maybe 3, kids tops. Once the boomers die, there will be such a glut of 5+ bedroom, 3000+ sq. ft. homes that they'll get sold at the same or lower price as smaller homes. These things cost a fortune to maintain, clean, and insure with no practical benefit to the overwhelming marketbase.

I literally don't know what I would do with a 3000 sq. ft. home right now. I'd end up repurposing extra bedrooms into vanity projects I don't really need like a library, gym room, office, game room, etc. and still be left asking myself why the hell I did all that when I have a functional living room and don't watch TV. I think boomers just half the rooms in their house as junk rooms once the kids move out. Places where there was once life and never will be again. I'd call it sad, but they have only themselves to blame when the kids never go back to visit. I guess they can start a new family with doggos who can never leave them.

You just described my fucking parents man. This actually hurt a bit.

I hate how even when it's obvious that a boomer is a dementia written crazy nutbar, the system is designed to enable their behavior.
Minor pl: I have a boomer relative that at this point may as well be schizophrenic with how bad their mental health is. They can't remember conversations they had earlier that day, they live in a hoarded pile of garbage, pick fights with random church people, and say the most delusional insane things (accusing a handyman of transmorgifying into a pile of snakes, claiming that the government is tapping their phones, believing that a gas leak from improper maintenance was an intentional poisoning), but no matter how many people are willing to sign affidavits, how many piles of letters I get from that relative in the mail that look like Ted kaczynski's lost pages, or how much other proof is brought, if Boomer doesn't want to go to the doctor then there's nothing that can be done.

I even have power of attorney that is already active over this relative, but getting them put into a facility where they can no longer be a danger to themselves and others has been a total nightmare.
