Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

>if you remember
There's an entire DLC for 3 focused on his gay wedding (with the head of Jakobs, because of course hurhur aren't we wacky, zany, progressive and subverting expectations by making the manly oldschool gun manufacturer CEO a fucking homo) and your goal is to kill a straight couple who is struggling to stay together because the husband was possessed by some dead ancient evil. It ends with a cutscene of a long, deep, sloppy gay kiss that you CANNOT SKIP. Literally. Buttons do not work during it. All you can do is alt tab and wait for it to end.

Now I am definitely never going to play 3.

Now I am definitely never going to play 3.

The game is a step backwards in everything but graphics and some gameplay elements (tho idk, I still think B2 is better, even if its simplier and more limited).

So really, dont bother. Like @TVB said, Randy basically destroyed another franchise scott free.

He's also gay, if you remember the side quest where you find the remains of his giant faggot boyfriend. So he's got to be in it for rEpReSenTaTioN.
Oh, yeah, I remember.
Eh I think the commander lilith DLC for BL2 was an advance warning with how cringe and annoying they made the tales characters. It was initially free for all BL2 owners and now it costs money.

Glad i dodged a bullet on that one even though i got BL3 for free on epic a few years later. Never got around to playing it.
Yeah, I played the DLC when it first came out and...it was a mess. Vaugn was fucking annoying (I never played Tales so if this was accurate to his character or not, I dunno), the entire plot felt like a rehash of pre-sequel with yet another lost DAHL army in or around Pandora, Claptrap definitely was an afterthought since his whole quest was a bad joke about blockchaining (and yeah, the new VA just didn't work), and the only really funny line was the main villain calling you up on the radio talking about being in a clown themed bar because it kind of is an accurate shorthand way of describing Moxxi's.

...well. That explains why the fuck there's a guy simply named Jakobs on the cast list.

I actually played the tales games. They were all very out of character and not nearly as annoying there, but at least they got the original voice actors. I couldn't stand how the dialogue reeked of globohomo bullshit and didn't get past the junkyard.

Handsome Jack is basically the Cayde-6 of borderlands because they never tried to make another actual villain character like him.

Isn't Lilith like 23? This leather skinned badly aged 57 year old looks so fucking out of place.

Also since Claptrap is CGI why not just get the voice actor from the games? Is Jack Black eve that big of a draw anymore?

He's talking about the tales games.

Yeah, the globohomo writing got so obnoxious from Pre-Sequel on, particularly with the mechanic chick (a.k.a. 'Space Scooter') where so fucking much of her conversations had to underscore the fact she was a lesbian, including how Mr. Torgue somehow gets involved which is SUPER cringy. Like holy shit, it's like they were worried the host character wouldn't be Athena (who the mechanic immediately hits on* and is a significantly different intro speech than what every other character gets from my recollection) so they had to drill it into people that the mechanic can't get enough carpet to munch or something.

Compare that to how in one of the audio tapes from BL2, specifically the Tiny Tina one in Wildlife Exploitation (if you've played the game, you know which one), and Jack threatens a female researcher that she'll never see her wife again if she doesn't commence the experiment which is ultimately the one that kills Tina's parents, and is never brought up again. Or Moxxi just casually mentioning offhandedly she used to date the giant fat canibal black biker lady boss in commentary during that boss, before said boss dies and it's never brought up again.

*as I recall, the ending of Tales confirms she and Athena are getting married.

there is a statement out there where Randy Bo bandy states he didn’t want casting to be limited by the games and actually wanted to cast people for characters where they wouldn't make sense. Incredibly stupid but when you look at it like this:

Jamie Lee Curtis 40 years ago would've been a fine Tannis, therefore she's perfect for the role.
Kate Blanchett would've been good as Lillith 25 years ago and currently has been doing those wacky comic movies, therefore she's a perfect fit for the role.
Kevin Hart is black and comedically short and the antithesis of Roland's attitude, therefore he's perfect for the role.
The lady playing Moxxxi is literally from Showgirls, an ancient sexy movie to zoomers. Moxxxi is supposed to be an old ho, therefore she's perfect for the role.

All of it makes sense technically, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. It's a mess and I think is gonna limit you more in later movies if that's really the route you're going.

Also coulda literally put Dave Bautista in as brick and had a 1 to 1 casting.

My guess is Jack Blacktrap is going to be the best character. I personally don't care about it sounding exactly like ClapTrap. I was skeptical of him for Bowser and he did good at that. I think the fact that he'll be cgi is going to be the real problem.

God fucking yes he would have been an amazing Brick, i've not seen Mordi anywhere either. Only decent one that looks decent is Krieg and he hasn't got he crazy bandit twitch going either :/ I'm still mati about Kevin Hart playing Roland he's my favourite character out of all the games best solider class too.

Do you really think there's going to be a sequel made for this trashfire? I think it's more likely to fail on every level.

I thought the Borderlands movie was cancelled like five years ago...
Production for the film was delayed due to COVID-19, some shitty Hollywood strike and that its director Eli Roth was already occupied with his other film Thanksgiving at the time. Though to be fair, I wished it was cancelled

I think Randy wants there to be per posts by him, and I also think he’s dumb enough to try it.
I doubt that they'll ever make a sequel to something as garbo like this

I don't know. I said the same thing after each Borderlands game came out and boy howdy people kept buying them so they kept making sequels and spin offs.
Well once a movie bombs, and I'm predicting it will be though I could be wrong, then a sequel would be unlikely

Claptrap original voice actor from 1 and 2 sued Randy for not paying him and being a pain in the ass to work with.
