Borderlands (1, 2, 3, The Pre-Sequel, TftB)

The absolute worst part of it all was, you have no way of knowing except by memorization just what part was the right manufacturer. Each time you get a new possible upgrade, you have to pull up some fucking wiki to figure out whether or not the weapon was worth keeping or complete trash due to a stupid part mismatch. It's absolutely a fun idea in theory, but without some way to mitigate the massive prayers to RNGesus, it just becomes tedious and frustrating.

And don't even get me started on the inability to skip dialogue. Nothing emphasizes all the sour points of Burch's writing like having to listen to it, uninterrupted, EVERY SINGLE TIME you play through the campaign in a game that's designed around playing the campaign multiple times. There's a reason I find it hard to enjoy farming weapons like the game wants me to do. The unfunny humor is bad enough, but then the game makes the mistake of thinking it has a serious narrative with serious ideas and gives you these sappy drama sections. It says something that by the end of it, the intentionally annoying robot is the least annoying character in the game.

And this game is supposed to be story driven?

I think the story was written by three different guys. Sam Winkler, Danny Homan, and Randy Varnell.

The last name should bring you dread, because he was the guy who directed fucking Battleborn.

People have waited 10 years for a sequel. This game was in development for 5 years. You think in the amount of time they were in pre-production, they could have planned better inventory and loot management systems and a sensible story narrative. And yet they still managed to fuck up both.

The game is just way too stingy with loot in general. I'm fine with having to roll dice for a good gun, but when 99.5% of what drops is worthless vendor trash, it gets old pretty fast. This isn't like Path of Exile where there's a player economy allowing for the purchase of weapons you want, so there's no reason for RNGesus to be so miserly. Legendaries actually dropped at a pretty decent rate back in BL1, and lower-grade weapons were far more useful.

Also having to farm a specific boss dozens of times because the legendary you want only drops from them is absolute ass.

Honestly, the way loot in BL2 and the games beyond it works is a major reason duping and hexediting weapons remains a thing. You can roll a billion times for a Seraph Bitch that's at max level and the perfect blend of abilities, or you can trade for one that someone probably hexedited in and has the exact manufacturer mods to max its performance and get a dozen times stronger a weapon.

Imagine playing borderlands

Oh yeah and apparently it runs like shit on consoles despite looking like a HD version of the last game.

A couple of months ago I jokingly posted in this thread that Randy Pitchford is secretly racist and he resents Tyrone for fucking his wife. Today I was watching some gameplay footage to see if the game was worth playing and I noticed the player being attacked my an enemy called "violent nog". Turns out nogs are a whole subgroup of enemies.
This is the first time one of the borderlands games has made me laugh and it was a complete accident.

Remember what stream it was?
I need this.

Did... did they seriously try and containerize the entire fucking game without thinking about the performance implications? I get that Docker is all the rage in the tech industry lately, but there is a time and place for sandboxing your entire application, and resource intensive video games are most decidedly not in that category.

BL1 to me had the best drop rates when it came to loot drops and from what I've heard you aren't alone with how the BL3 handles drops. When I can be asked to actually talk to someone about the game (that isn't just kissing up to Gearbox) because I actually want to play it they tell me the drop system is awful in this game.

this is why you play with the Community patch that hands out useful weapons and tweak the skill trees of charecters making more builds avaible on higher difficulties. can you even mode boderlands three?

If they've really locked it down w/Denuvo as tightly as the crackers are claiming, probably not. It sounds like the whole game binary is encrypted and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they keep tight watch for file modifications and barf at the first sign of "tampering."

I'm not sure if you guys are aware but there's a new character called Lorelei.
(Notice the danger hair)

She works under Rhys and she's such an amazing, "bloody badass" WOC that even Zer0, FOR SOME REASON, has a crush on her

Her voice actor is a transman which I'm not surprised that Gearbox decided to make the character relatable to him.

What really got me was some of the comments on the video:

Reminder that this is the character that Claran Strange (I,E: the tranny that was stirring up shit a couple of pages back) is voicing. Haven't played that far, but I'm not expecting much. Seems only fitting that Borderlands would eventually be overrun by a pack of mentally ill psychopaths.

The first patch to the game was a hotfix and they pulled an Anthem by completely nerfing Legendaries and certain item farming spots that players enjoyed.
Hot Fixes
September 19, 2019

We are aware that the below list does not include issues that the community is immediately concerned with. We are hard at work evaluating performance problems and potential solutions for them. In the meantime, these are some balance updates that we can do quickly.

Bugs
  • Yellow paint has been added to the Marsh Fields to mark a more obvious path to complete the Sabotage Crew Challenge.
  • The New-U Station in front of the Halcyon Suborbital Spaceport (used during the “Space-Laser Tag” Mission) in the Meridian Metroplex now has a larger activation range.
  • The New-U Station in front of Titian’s Gate (used during the “Atlas, At Last” Mission) in the Meridian Metroplex now has a larger activation range.
  • The first Guardian a player runs into during the “Beneath the Meridian” mission is no longer over-leveled.
  • The Eridian chest by the Grotto in the Jakob’s Estate is no longer invisible.
Balance
  • Eridium crystals in Voracious Canopy grow less frequently.
  • Scaled down the amount of loot drops in Mayhem Mode.
  • Torgue shotgun sticky damage has been reduced.
  • Reduced E-Tech shotgun elemental damage from “flesh off your bones” to “a lot”.
  • Chupacabratch dropped too much of his hard-earned loot.
  • Adjusted spawn rate of Loot Tinks in Mansion. They’re special again.
  • Removed pain-sounds from Troy for his boss fight.

What's rich is I saw an article previously where someone was complaining about this, stating that Mayhem Mode was dropping too many Legendaries.

Like, motherfucker do you just hate rewards and progress? Perhaps they should go back to playing mobile games like the sadists they are.
