Arnold Palmer died today. He was a great golfer and a truly great man. 'The King' won 7 Majors - 4 were Masters - and he was part of the first group of golfers inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.

I met Arnie several times beginning when I was maybe 6 or 7 and my dad first took me to the Doral Golf Tournament. I still have his autograph from back then in a drawer. He knew my father as the "Tee Man". My dad was the first to print on golf tees and made a succesful business out of it, and all the pros knew my father.*

Arnie was not only my dad's favorite golfer, he was my father's favorite athlete and celebrity. One of my favorite memories of my dad was when I took him to see the Seniors Tournament at Crandon Park Key Biscayne and we followed Arnie for 18 holes. I remember he chipped in for birdie from the back of the 2nd Green. My dad was very happy that day.
