After looking at John and Frank, I have to conclude it apparently causes you to grow at least two feet and develop facial deformities, or causes neurological problems that twist your face into a paralyzed scream. Possibly it does worse things, too, like cause your penis to fall off and cause grandiose delusions that you have abilities you don't.
I can't really see Frank eating/drinking any Soylent crap at all. He's educated enough to know what the stuff is.
Just taking a look at the ingredients in the "Soylent Bar":
Soy Protein Isolate, Corn Syrup, Oat Flour, Canola Oil, Clycerine, Whole Algae Floue, Isomaltulose, Isomaltooligosaccharide Fiber, Oatmeal, Creamer, Vitamin and Mineral Blend, Soy Lecithin, Water, Tapioca Starch, Flavrings, Salt, Sucralose, Mixed Tocopherol
Isomaltulose: Is just a sugar. Apparently it's a middle thing between Glucose and Fructose, which is nice, but it's still just a sugar.
Sucralose: A sugar. No dietary benefits. All it does is make things taste sweeter.
Clycerine: Just call it Glycerol! It's a sweetner in the food industry. It's also used to make, among others, suppositories, toothpaste, lubricants and soap. It has no dietary benefit other than to make things taste sweet.
Isomaltooligosaccharide: A starch. It's there to make digestion of your product harder because with all the sugars in it you'd probably just get the drizzling shits. It will also make you feel fuller I suppose.
Tocopherols: Antioxidant and small(?) vitamin E source.
Corn Syrup: Really? Ugh... 'merica.
Soy Protein Isolate: I'm pretty sure that gets used in weight gain powders.
Soy Lecithin: Soy oil I'm assuming. Meh.
The rest is pretty self explanitory.
What do you get for eating sugar with flavor, starch and oil?
~250kcal/1046kJ per 60g serving (1 bar). 12g protein, 10g fat and 30g carbo's. Amazing.
Moral of the story: If you want to eat something healthy on the go eat literally anything but don't preach about the amazing health benefits of fucking Soylent food, because at best it's mediocore and at worst it might have heavy metals in it.
And if there really are near toxic levels of arsenic in that stuff you NEED TO AVOID IT alltogether.
