Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

So the first weekend of the open beta is on playstation and from what I'm hearing so far it is pretty good and people wish that this is the game we got last year. I don't have a playstation so I can't try it myself until the 2nd weekend when it is available on PC.

The only one I hated was the night time one. I couldn't see shit.
Maybe I was just getting burned out on Cold War by the time it reached this, but I remember just getting really frusterated because I'd have to go through like 3 or 4 rounds to get to the map that had the new intel I needed and it just pissed me off.
It would probably have been better if my friends had still been playing at the time, I dunno.

It just felt like there was a point where you should have at least been able to pick your starting map. (maybe that did become a thing, I stopped playing around the summer before Vanguard came out)

lol, lmao even. No, that never happened. That would require somebody working on Cold War to give a shit about Zombies, let alone Outbreak. There has never been a QoL update, or even anything to fix the myriad of consistent crashes/bugs in Outbreak.

So, whatever happened to the "Leave the Kids Alone" boycott that was going on? Did people suddenly cut their dick off and decide to start playing CoD again?
Hate to say it, but when it comes to entertainment, gamers are the most fickle with consuming products. I'm sure the people that play CoD regularly don't pay attention to the news. Remember the OW Hong Kong boycott? That did not last long.

After the original Modern Warfare reboot, I was pretty much done.
I definitely want to finish MW2019 for completionist's sake, especially since I went through the trouble of finishing the original Spec Ops missions. I doubt any people are playing THOSE anymore; that was difficult enough as it is.

Please God no, I found that insufferable and boring.
I found it more fun than the classic wave-based mode.
To me the classic zombie mode is a pain in the ass online when you have people who only care about getting the secrets or intels so they run everywhere, die and quit. Extinction had the same issue.

Extinction was hit and miss for me, I like the first two maps (point of contact, nightfall) mayday was decent but the last two were a swing and a miss, good ideas but bad execution.

Well, your issue there is that you're playing with randos instead of friends. Zombies has always been ass when playing with randos, everyone has their own specific goal and will either ignore or shout at anyone not following their goal.

I personally liked Zombies as a diversion. I never knew or cared about the easter eggs until much later. I could never find a squad to do them with me.

If Zombies is DMZombies, I am so fucking here for it. I've gotten my fucking fill of DMZ, I probably play it more than MP at this point, my man.

>Pay 140$(Plus Tax, Microtransactions) just to have a complete, working title
This has to be the biggest sunken cost cope in gaming history aside from MMOs and Star Citizen
At this point, I don't think I will ever play a COD game simply due to the toxicity surrounding the franchise from both the devs and players. The prices are a highway robbery and due to online nature of the game they can't be pirated, the games are easy to get hacked and the devs don't care, and there is general lack of polish and care in everything except for the microtransaction store that you can always bet will be working.
Game itself also hasn't evolved enough for me to care. I have seen nothing to prove to me that I need to spend more money since MW2019, and I bought Cold War just because Zombies looked halfway competent. Can't say the same thing about Vanguard.
If I get the itch to play, it will be XDefiant, not this. It finally got a release date, and with that at least I know what I'm playing.

This pisses me off way more than anything else. I can handle them pushing overpriced skins down my throat, pay-to-win skins, fucking whatever, but holy fuck the lack of care for the small details is infuriating.

I could make a 3 hour video explaining every instance where shit was either just wrong or never tested across MW2019, CW and MW2022, and I don't think it would be an exhaustive list.

CW;
  • 3 guns were added that had either no aim assist, or incorrect aim assist for controller players in zombies
  • 2 sniper rifles were added that had penetration but lost it when Pack-a-Punched
  • The nail gun had placeholder test for it's camo challenges
  • The crossbow was added, and had impossible challenges that were copy and pasted from the grenade launcher
MW2022;
  • The newest gun, TR-76 Geist, the visual preview of some attachments are flat out wrong or swapped with another
  • Some DMZ missions were flat-out impossible when they came out, like exfilling with 7 people on the chopper
  • To this day, their is a bug where when assimilating into another squad (or vice versa), they must exfil separate from you for mission progress to count

I did QA for years, so I see this shit really fast and easily.

Ground War is just like a really, really terrible version of Battlefield.
They advertise Ground War as a new mode in CoD when it's been around since CoD4 as merely 9v9 TDM and Domination. Further than that, the concept of War has started with CoD3 into World at War until Advanced Warfare implemented it in name only as "new."

The War mode in COD4 and WaW wasn't really the same at all, and there are 10v10 maps in regular rotation as it is. Ground War really is more like Baby Battlefield, complete with too many players for any individual to make a difference. I think it's 32v32, which is actually larger than the PS3/360 era Battlefield games.

Add to your list that MW2022 puts modes back into your rotation after an update. I keep finding myself in Gun Game, which I hate.

I don't think there is in Ground War, which is trying to ape Battlefield. Plus, in WZ, you have body armor, which reduces your chance of getting OHKd. Ground War is just like a really, really terrible version of Battlefield.
Especially with the lack of spotting/ping.
