Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

They weren't kidding.

Those "open ended missions" looks like a piece of DMZ gameplay. Hell, the weapon pick up UI looks like something you'd see from Warzone. Also, why on Earth is there armor pickups and armored enemies in CoD?

And the campaign is only four hours long.

I was so... So tempted to buy for the Hellsing skin. But the multiplayer is shit and single player isn't any better.

I'm so glad I didn't give in and saved my money.

Cod honestly peaked at WW2 and the space ones story for me. The original trilogy is an absolute banger though. Shame they bastardized it.

1) "Back to the roots" bullshit where they were lying thru their teeth,
I think the marketing was "boots on the ground" after Black Ops III/Infinite Warfare. In a sense, it is "back to its roots" with the WW2 setting and no regenerative health.
2) Niggers everywhere,
I remember one main Black character, Howard. Blink and you'll miss him. Even so, he has more personality than all of Vanguard's cast.
D-Day lootcrate openings,
They basically copied Destiny's social space with the Headquarters but in Normandy. I find it inoffensive.

P2W weapons in multiplayer, which are still one of the lowest points in the franchise to this day)
AW, sure. WW2, not that I noticed. I managed to obtain a few DLC weapons through challenges and loot boxes. I prefer unlocking weapons from chance, but whatever.

Nah, AW was great but WW2 sucked. Story was generic and forgettable, multiplayer was awful
I liked WW2 over AW. That whole boost jumping, futuristic direction was not doing it for me. I did not even finish the game; I was bored halfway through.

Indie devs will create a Call of Duty clone with no real AAA competitor and it will be good for a couple of years before they get bought and the cycle continues but at least we can have a decent shooter for a brief moment.
Or Ubisoft with XDefiant. Only reason that will perform well is because it's a modern example of what people liked about old school CoD compared to now. Time will tell.

Also, I think I remember Sledgehammer at one point said that they would’ve preferred making an Advanced Warfare sequel rather than the WWII games they put out. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if COD WWII was originally supposed to have been AW2, and then they had to backtrack after the Infinite Warfare trailer backlash.
You're correct, AW started the jetpack craze and it was clear Sledgehammer wanted to continue making these games.
Sadly, Activision decided Jetpacks were the way of the future, so they forced the fanbase to play not just one, not just two, but THREE Jetpack games in a row, and you were SOL if you didn't like them! When the criminally underrated Infinite Warfare came out and the release trailer was unceremoniously one of the most disliked videos on youtube at the time, Activision saw which way the wind was blowing, and forced Sledgehammer to "go back to the series roots" with WW2, a setting that they clearly did not give a single shit about when you look at Vanguard just a few years later.
I have no sympathy for them, knowing how they ended up looking as a studio just a few years later, AW2 would have been woke to hell and back and had even worse micro transaction than ever before. Fuck that, better for the game to stay dead.

With how shit COD is right now, one of it's biggest competitors right now is not Battlefield or Halo as both of these suck now as well, but rather XDefiant, which is a Ubisoft game. You heard it here first, the potential COD killer might come from the frogs, and it doesn't even have "Rainbow Six" in the title. How ironic would that be, for a Tom Clancy's series to finally kill COD for good and not just that but do so with an arcade, three lane shooter that is supposed to be trademarked to COD?

Things not looking good for MW6 stans!
BTW, if you though there was any hope for better UI this time around, think again

COD is going to get fucked hard this year, doesn't help this is the first Microsoft Partnership game as well

I've seen enough people say they don't care about any of this controversy and are still buying it at this point to think it will be a success.

CoD has worked it's way into being the retards game of choice. We're talking Sonygger style "I buy a game and maybe play it 3 times a month but still spend all my money on skins" gamer

I hope it crashes and burns but I'm not holding any hope.

People said this during Vanguard and MWII/5 and look what happened. The games sold but RETENTION went down, hence why they need to shill more skins and sell an expansion pack/DLC for 70$ to make up the projected loss. Let's not forget that Vanguard did so badly that along with Bobby Kotick's PR nightmare it forced Activision to sell out, the company is not making nearly as much money as you think when you factor in the costs to make these games. This trend will only lose them more money the longer it continues, and that will force Activision/Microsoft to make even more retarded decisions to make up THOSE loses and the cycle continues, accelerating like sinking in quicksand. It might take a while, but we will get there eventually unless they actually make a good game again(won't happen). People thought that Bethesda was also untouchable and look where they are after 2 flops in a row. To reiterate, MWIII/6 would be the third L in a row for COD, as Cold War was received rather well, even the haters said it was "mid" at worst. Can COD take another loss? Absolutely. Will the franchise be able to get away with it? I think not, just look at the absolute state of Halo Infinite to see where the future of COD lies if this trend of shitty games continues.

But at least now it will be "free" on Gamepass *Sarcasm*

considering we're actively talking about how shit the newer games are, do you guys know of any 'revival' projects? shit like Plutonium and BOIII. i ended up getting banned on pluto because OBS is apparently considered 'injecting cheats' and BOIII got shutdown by Activision (so did the Xlabs (MW2, Ghosts, AW) project and sm2)
anything else worth using, or should I just outright give up on playing older CoDs? most of the older ones on PS3 are outright broken for newer accounts. BO1 will not save progress

I wonder which title would be more negatively recieved as time goes on: Vanguard or MWIII. Rather, would Vanguard be considered the beginning of the end?

>System with no games jumps on an opportunity to play a dollar store version of a shooter they played 10 years ago
lol, is that supposed to show soyniggers in a positive light? Same soyny niggers who also think Spiderman 2 is the shits?
I heavily doubt Steam numbers are that great. MW5 was also a high seller but then dropped significantly shortly after since player retention in that game was garbage, this is just going to get worse. Everybody goes out to buy COD on day 1, breaking news, like that hasn't happened literally every October or November since 2007. Let's check back in a few weeks, and see those player numbers, even better see how many people returned the game while they were at it.

Edit to prevent double post: So I am catching up on COD news, I haven't cared about almost entirety of MW5 cycle because...why the fuck would I?
Apparently, the "trailer" for MW6 was a disaster: only 13 seconds of gameplay(bad gameplay at that), nostalgia bait from MW2's trailer...even tho this is supposed to be a remaster of MW3?
That's not important: Get this, the rest of the trailer besides the 13 second of actual gameplay was just shitty cinematics and ADS FOR BUNDLES THEY ARE PLANNING TO RELEASE. They're not available yet, but they're already shilling their shitty 24-30$ bundles in the first piece of content people saw for the game. This just about says it all, doesn't it? One huge DLC without a single original map in sight on launch. Comments are ripping it a new one, too. What a fucking joke, you got to have down syndrome if you were excited about this shitheap. If your excuse was "BUT I JUST WANTED A QUICKER, MORE ARCADE COD!" consider the following: They already released one, it's called Cold War, and it has a lot more content. Hell, I bet even the disaster that was Vanguard is a better deal, not to mention just going back to play the older titles? OG MW2 still has lobbies
Oh, and SBMM is even worse than it ever was, you get sweat lobbies only a few matches in because the game reads your data from your COD account, not your ingame stats, so if you played any other COD you will be getting into awful lobbies from day one. Fucking amazing, glad I just could not care enough to follow this franchise after the (hilarious) dumpster fire that was Vanguard

Look at this absolute garbage, this is what you see when you click on the official Call of Duty page on Youtube:
here is your call of duty bro.png
People mocked the Snoop Dogg announcer pack for Ghosts 10 years ago, but now every other video is some nigger rapper cosmetics bundle or a fucking cartoon character bundle. Man, am I glad I saved some braincells by just not paying attention to this shit, this looks like a /v/ shitpost come to life.
I stand by what I said before, Zombies will DEFINITELY not save it. It's poor man's Outbreak mixed in with DMZ, I may sound like a broken record but Cold War is a much better value for your time if you want both Multi and Zombies experience for your buck(BO4 is even better if you want actual zombies experience, but let's stick to this generation of COD)
I genuinely don't see the appeal of looking like a clown in this game and paying 24$ for the privilege of doing so. At this point, I will just consider anyone admitting to buying these, using these, thinking about buying these or defending these bundles as the same kind of dead-brain paypig peon that give money to DSP, Gunt, Chris Chan, Nick Fuentes and other lolcows, because I genuinely believe you're on the same level of the totem pole as these people. No exceptions from me, I didn't know it has gotten this bad and I will certainly roast anyone that defends these skins. This goes double for anything anime related.
BTW I hope you like this, because there IS no content for MW6 this year. You get the same maps people played on a much better game in 2009, 14 years ago, and you will get a few extra leftover maps they were planning on releasing for MW5, that's it. Everything else will just be paid cosmetics entire year round and each one will get dumber than the next one, not to mention the P2W content they already tried with MW5 and it didn't get enough pushback, so expect it in full force this year. They laid that out in literally the first trailer they showed, you have nobody but yourself to blame if you buy this game and then you will be crying a year from now that they should have given you more content.

All due respect, that doesn't (shouldn't) mean anything. It sells because it's CoD, on account of the whales and cosmetics.
I really don't get this weird idea that has popped up recently that sales don't mean shit when it comes to gaming.

Call of Duty at this point is neither a free to play game or a subscription based game. It doesn't matter if people don't play it if they made a sale, and this is even more true if they keep making sales through skins (Which is why I specifically mentioned that most people I know IRL that buy CoD titles barely play them, yet still buy them at release and spend upwards of 100 dollars over the course of the year on dumb shit like skins)

Does anyone know who this is about? I know Spider-Man 2 is rife with writing shit out of a dying goat’s ass, so if this checks out…

From what I understand Sweet Baby Games had a hand in Spider-Man 2. For the love of anything holy left, please tell me they aren’t near COD. Even it doesn’t deserve that.
This is the list of their clients

That’s just what they’re allowed to show though. Activision could very well be one of their clients. It’s one of those shady companies like blackrock.
