Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I can't tell if people are legit cheating, I suck ass now or if visibility on these maps is awful or what. Any time I play hardcore I just get blasted the fuck away and can barely make out any players. Things are *slightly* better in normal playlists but not by much.

I was decent in Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare II. Thank god for the Zombies in this game otherwise my friends would have completely wasted their money. Standard multiplayer might be the worst multiplayer I've played in recent memory.

I can't tell if people are legit cheating
They probably are, considering that 1) The engine these games are on has been BUCK BROKEN by hackers for over a year now and they have been doing more or less whatever they wanted with it, and 2) Hackers have been active even during the beta of MWIII/6. AI jannies are only punishing legit players and those that have been reported too many times by butthurt players. Of course, hackers know how to evade bans or even nullify them altogether should they get stricken with one anyways.
We could take the Occam's razor to the issue and just blame the SBMM, as it has been confirmed to be worse than ever before, even worse than in MWII/5 with it's skill based footsteps and damage. You're probably getting buttfucked for being too good, it has been confirmed that the best way to get good lobbies is to get intentionally bad games and then pubstomp braindead retards or newbies every other game and that's what good players are doing. This makes the situation even worse as the algorithm doesn't know if you're legit good or if you're just inconsistent, then the situation gets further muddled when parties get involved. It is very hard to have fun with this game's singleplayer right now without smurf accounts unless you accept that you will just get put into unwinnable games the more you play the game.

S1 Roadmap and there’s a new Evil Dead crossover happening

Game is so dead already they have to fill the matches with bots. Not just that, but look how creepy they look in-game
Game is slowly turning into an IRL creepypasta, between this and the AI that records everything you say and do. Some people are saying that the reason they're acting so wonky sometimes and then the other times bots melt the players is because they are using some weird learning algorithm. Our knowledge of AI is still relatively new, we still don't know what makes them tick, or rather why some simple things give them trouble and othertimes why they pick up on others so quickly. These definitely don't look like offline bots I have seen in any COD game I played, anyways.
(Video starts at about 3 mins in btw)
Am I crazy or am I hearing RE4 music very lowkey in the background?

Edit: Looking further into it, here are his earlier videos for context(in order, first to last before the one linked up above, top to bottom)
Note: this dude gets sponsors for all his videos at the start(can you blame him when COD is fucking dead and he's already torturing himself playing this shit?) so skip ahead if need be

If the AI bots are trained to be tough then I'm fine with it. Gears, Halo Infinite and other games have that ability to replace a player who quit with a bot.

So I'm playing Zombies with my friends tonight. We always keep our voice chats contained to our private party.

Apparently I said "fag" at some point while talking about something and got dinged by the AI and given a warning.

Fucking gay, man.

Remember back before there was the big push to get "women in gaming" and we didn't have "trust & safety teams?" Women ruin everything fun.

Problem isn't the bot AI, it's that literally every other part of the game has SBMM now: Your Ping, how much damage you do, your aim assist(your aim will literally be repelled from players if you're "too good" or if there is noob protection in place), your footsteps(was a thing in MWII already) or how loud you hear the footsteps of others(again in MWII). Even then, the bots don't spawn in there so you can have a good time, they literally only spawn to hunt down and "equalize" good players so that the games always end in a draw or close to it. Those bots aren't just good, it's been proven they also cheat(they move quicker, they fire/prefire thru walls and have that noob protection I was talking about).

Basically, it removes any skill the player might have, ironically enough, and turns COD into a casino: The game is rigged and the system decides if you will do well and stomp the lobby or if DemonJuice is going to spawn in and get 63-22 and force you to lose the game. At this point I don't even see it as a game anymore, this is more of a social experiment or AI training exercise as your actual skill plays a very small role, if any, in winning the game. That goes especially if you are "equalizing" a really shitty lobby where the enemy team will have more good players + DemonJuice to guarantee that you will lose, BossmanJack has a better chance of getting a Honda Civic than you actually consistently winning games like in the old days.

BTW this goes the other way too: If you are super nooby or if the game decided you need to win the match, it will spawn dumb as rock AI that will literally ignore you and run in circles, to give you an illusion you're doing great and incentivize you into spending money at the shop(They used this same strategy and similar bots in free to play COD Mobile, a Tencent game). That's what this is about BTW, the game will continue giving you "good" lobbies as long as you spend money, or "punish" you and send DemonJuice cheater bot to kick your ass if you don't spend any money and do too well. Only winning move is to either not play at all or to get a BillyGoat57 reverse boost account to get you matched up with the greenest players alive so you can at least have a bit of fun(which is what most OG Cod fans are doing apparently, those still remaining anyways as the game is dead already).

So, you know that AI assassin that targets you, and you specifically(and other good players)? Apparently, it has been in the game since Vanguard. There was a stupid event nobody liked where a random BOT would spawn and attack the winning team/top players. Sounds familiar? AI for it is already there, all they did was recycle it and probably used AI training to make it even better.
Original video on it(Skip to 5:00 if you don't want to hear a man having a mental breakdown induced by being forced to talk about a shitty game)
Fun Fact: Same video(from 2021 mind you) also talks about aim assist issues...similar to the SBMM induced variable aim-assist that works differently based on how good you are and how much the game favors you in MWIII. Honestly, I can't tell if this is a similar system at work in Vanguard or if the game just fucking broke, people forget just how fucked up and half-functioning that game was thru out almost it's entire lifecycle

Far fetched? Consider this: Remember how I posted how you would randomly get STUCK on random parts of the maps in Vanguard because the devs literally did not do the bare minimum of QA testing(alongside just being awful at their jobs)? Well, guess what, apparently this is happening on the old MW2 maps right now(which did NOT have this problem in 2009). I don't know if it's just incompetence, or if they're literally just porting these assets and having AI smooth things over without checking the results, but this whole game gives me a feeling that they literally just had AI doing most of the work while they worked on stronger SBMM or microtransactions or the "new and improved lighting" or whatever the fuck these hacks are doing. They had about a year or less to create this game, so it would make sense. Sledgehammer made both Vanguard and MWIII, keep that in mind.

Is it any wonder this game is dead already? They somehow just made MW2 again but worse, they even ported over the same exact bug from MWII where you don't get XP for destroying a chopper. Copy + Paste then have an AI finish the job, don't bother checking the results because there is another 26$ bundle that needs to be finished by the end of the week.
BTW the games are more or less dead. here are some numbers
Pretty pathetic, when you consider this is all the nu-MW games + Cold War + Vanguard + Warzone + DMZ combined, not just the latest game

Yeah I've noticed that earlier when I had my first match (in a long time) where it felt like I was actually doing something, the bullets didn't go all over the place except the target. I wasn't getting spawn-killed. I even ended up with a 3.something KD.
Halo Infinite seems to have that SBMM issue too but there's also the shitty netcode. 90% of the time - at least for me - the plasma grenade never stick to the enemy.

As for BlameTruth, the guy is a schizo who "hates" CoD but keeps buying it every year to tell people how bad it is.

If anything should lead to a game crash, it should be industry titans doing shit like this. However, things are still trucking along, so I don’t cope for that anymore.

Call of Duty isn’t a hard series to keep making, and earn fistfuls of money legitimately, while respecting your audience’s funds. The concept is still fun, and would be worth showing up for, if they didn’t butcher it almost every time now.

This is deliberate tardation on their part. They all should be in nursing homes sooner rather than later.

whats the data on players playing Warzone vs the multiplayer, especially because you'd think activision would try and make the multiplayer good just because they know a good chunk of warzone players will be doing those "free weekend" promos and might purchase the game. I know Cold War was a breath of fresh air compared to the matches in Warzone at the time. and they already ruined warzone by placing it on that fucking island so Vanguard was semi-better be default there too.

But overall it seems like they just gave up entirely with MW3. If the MP is truely dead, does that mean those players decided to fuck off to Warzone or what? I know Warzone had deathmatch and other modes that at times could be better than the shit in MP just because you'd have way more players doing shit like a 50 v 50 instead of having 12v12. So where is everyone? I think we've had almost an entire half decade of people raised on fortnite so maybe the amount of people willing to put down $80 for a game you can already mostly play for free is insane to many 'gamers in the target demo.

Good portion of COD OGs are waiting for XDefiant, Ubisoft's take on the arena shooter genre. As for right now, people are playing literally anything other than COD, one of the videos I linked above shows that Battlefield Vagina has more players than EVERY NEW COD GAME COMBINED ON STEAM when it dropped to 5$(fun fact, older Battlefield titles still have more players on them than the new 2042)

Not sure if it's me, but I've literally heard nothing about Warzone from the community since MWIII's release. Is the battle royale craze dying or is Fortnite reclaiming the crown?

This raises another question. XDefiant is literally releasing at the right time given CoD's fall from grace. Besides that, what is it providing to the market? Ubisoft is not in a good spot financially; I'm sure they'll monetize XDefiant like nobody's business. Or treat it like The Division 2 with duct tape and string. Remains to be seen.

I'm not sure about Battle Royale as a whole but Warzone has been dying off for a while now. For one, the sheen is long gone and people either moved back to Fortnite or other games they liked. For two, the game is overrun with cheaters. For three, game balance is constantly being destroyed with every new game and games are getting much less stable as the time goes on(watch some of the videos I linked above, Vanguard in particular was a shitshow. Vanguard was released by the same people who made MWIII). For four, what little playerbase Warzone still had is being stolen by it from DMZ, Tarkov and more recently Zombies since it seems to be just DMZ with unarmed AI bots

XDefiant is basically the combination of all the best parts of older COD games into one: It has the no-nonsense arcade gameplay, the three lanes, quick action and tight objective play, and even made specialists from Black Ops games work somehow, and all that with Ubisoft fanservice(if that's your thing). More importantly, it seems to be made by people who actually want to create a good FPS instead of milking it for money, granted that seems to matter little when you realize Ubisoft owns the game. It will 100% be milked with microtransactions, but as long as they are limited to cosmetics and the game itself is free, I don't think too many will care.

Pretty sure that's for Warzone, not MWIII. Also, even at launch MWIII doesn't seem to have an identity of it's own, the very first trailer showed maybe 20 seconds of gameplay(all maps stolen from MW2) and the rest was just advertising new bundles they didn't release for MWII. That's not mentioning all the stupid shit you can transfer from MWII, such as anime skins and real world rappers

As for BlameTruth, the guy is a schizo who "hates" CoD but keeps buying it every year to tell people how bad it is.
His content reeks of sensationalism and clickbait. Outrage for the sake of outrage with no substance whatsoever. I'd rather watch NeroCinema or S0ur over him.

Also, I hate content creators that "hate" a series, yet will continue to buy and make content off of it.
