Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

One thing I can give treyarch credit for is that they go above and beyond when it comes to hyping up their slop I probably still have a post card from the pawntakespawn episode,
I just have the slightest amount of hope that they actually got to develop their game this time around without Activision shoving them into other studios’ games but only time will tell

Awww man, were the leakers dead fucking wrong again and it's not going to be a Gulf War game? lmfao

Shit's got me intrigued, not gonna lie. But I've always been more of a Black Ops fan.
I don't know if it's enough to get me to buy after MWIII but I might get a month of Gamepass to try it.

My take on the marketing is that it is trying to hint at anti government conspiracy stuff from the 90s. If it does have a 90s Gulf War mission, and its black ops so maybe 90s conspiracy theories will play into the plot. Maybe an Area 51 level? Not saying there will be aliens in it but that was my impression seeing the found footage stuff.

After blowing two different opportunities to have period-accurate weapons, which would have actually been cool, I can't get excited for Treyarch.

If that was the worst thing of Black Ops, then Treyarch has a great track record for their historical authenticity.

Black Ops was fun, but it would have been legendary if they'd made even the tiniest attempt to keep it to pre-1972 weapons

I'm excited because the game will have round-based zombies

Just hope the game is fun and the campaign has branching paths like 2 & cold war

One thing Treyarch excels at is with their storytelling, Black Ops III not withstanding. Its Game Pass debut will be worth a try. I hope GP doesn't increase the price soon because of Call of Duty.

When you install CoD HQ, does it install assets from MWII, MWIII for Warzone? Why is an app necessary for a game?

I'm not seeing a dedicated thread yet, but XDefiant released, and uh, it's not looking good COD bros! It's not perfect, obviously, but it plays more like a proper BO5 than the actual BO5 will.
Looking forward to Ubisoft ruining that game as well so we're left with nothing again. I'm not even considering buying BO5, I haven't touched a COD game since the 2019 one and only have Cope War for the zombies, everything else can rot(and it has spectacularly). I guess for now, enjoy XDefiant for the little time it will be allowed to exist unmolested, I believe it is free to play at the moment.

On PC it just lets me choose what I want to install as far as modes and stuff goes.

But my friends on PS4 and PS5 make it sound like an absolute cluster fuck of downloading different "packs" that are not named well so they effectively end up downloading everything to get it to work. IDK if they are able to delete the MWII stuff if they only want to play MWIII or not but they'd never risk it just because of how large the files are and how long they take to download on Sony systems.

Ubisoft Sellout thread talks about XDefiant. But somebody could/should make an XDefiant thread. I have 12 hours in, I feel I can make an adequate review on it.

As someone who does want it to be a good competitor, it plays like shit. Using anything other than snipers or marksman rifles just does not feel reliable, and the crappy hero shooter skills make people even spongier in an already fairly spongy game. Only thing it has on CoD is probably the directional sliding, and I remember reading something that BO6 might have that too.

Totally fine to like it, but the sheer amount of shilling people are doing for the game is completely delusional. We're only around 3 months out from the Skull & Bones "this is actually a quadruple-A game", and days out from the sheer absurdity Assasins Creed Shadows is going through, yet people are sucking the shit off Ubisoft just because they want to try having the satisfaction of being a step above people who like CoD.
