Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I'm hearing that "classic prestige" will return to Black Ops 6. Cold War had a "prestige shop" where you could unlock prestige titles/emblems from prior CoDs, but that content is inaccessible if you haven't prestiged during CW's seasons. Completing prior seasons' challenges will not unlock that content. I want the prestige shop to return to 6, but give any/every player the opportunity to unlock prestige titles.
While a prestige shop is not confirmed at the time, the classic prestige and its rewards will feature stuff themed around past games, with Prestige 1 being themed after World at War. Not the best CoD imo (MW2 OG my beloved) but still a game that deserves a lot of respect, even found myself playing it a lot recently.
Then there wouldn't be a FOMO element to keep player numbers up, though
No FOMO, no seasonal prestige shit, BO6 will be (fingers crossed) the first CoD to last for multiple years since BO3 with its prestige system.

I hate the "point blank" challenge/medal. You'd need to be breathing on them for it to count. Sometimes, it won't count if you barely in arm's length to them.

You know, I was just looking at all of the CoDs released on PS4/5, and I realized that the only two I haven't played yet are Vanguard and MW2022. I know Vanguard is shit - the Campaign is a complete mess, Zombies is also pretty bad, and the Multiplayer is... well, a Current Year CoD lobby - but what about MW2022? It worth giving a shot these days? Or should I just skip it?

Some people will tell you Infinity Ward can do no wrong, others will tell you MW22 was one of the worst CoDs mechanically. They (in)directly punished movement so heavily that camping's basically the main way of playing, and did not seem to pay attention to player feedback. Spec Ops wasn't good as far as I know, and the survival mode inside it was atrocious compared to the original. DMZ seems fine as an extraction shooter, but at this point expect to get wiped out by a fully geared prematched 3-man/6-man. Personally, it came included with my laptop, and I still couldn't be bothered to play it. For all the wrongdoings of MW23, SHG did a hell of a job fixing the MP.

I saw this on recommendation yesterday. From what I know it's one of missions from cancelled Call of Duty Future Warfare. The comments are probably worth to highlight. Here are few cherry picked ones.
  • "Innacurate. The police seems fit and not fat, they are competent, and not using tear gas excessively."
  • "me as Indonesian who is currently struggle for waiting just to get my airsoft i bought legally and paid from my saving: remember, no polri (left)"
  • "As a Jakartan here is my review: map doesn't even look like Jakarta. If you are assuming this is glodok, than it should look more like the urban china map in BF4. If it's in a generic alley, then it should like the Favella in MW2. Road should be narrower. For reference, you could watch the movie the Raid or Java Heat. Police is Ok. Because let's assume we are fighting Brimob or Densus 88. Camo is Ok, since we they had Chinese made urban camos. AK47? No, we don't use that on average. Standard rifle should be SS-2, M16, or M4. Mostly western made arms from the cold war era. Voice Acting is horrible, feels like you hired a Phillipino to voice the Indonesian police force 😂, again watch the Raid for how they sound like. - The only accurate thing is the vehicles. Nice Bajaj though."
  • "post colonial city planning makes it more like some less developed small city (e.g. Bandung, Garut) c.2000-2010. got lots of them alleyway, and half-sized parking lot-space between street and very front facing buildings. Jakarta does(did) have similar parts around Blok M, and other 50s-80s commercially developed old town sites. Worst Inaccuracy in all places; huge trash bins. we just pile garbage up on open corners and streetsides, following along to wherever the hugest pile is."
And so on. The channel also uploaded other missions gameplay too.

The retards in the comments can't comprehend that it's an unfinished dev build. They deserve rope unironically.

I started watching 402Thunder again, for the first time since Black Ops 4. I have not paid any attention to BO6 except for the recent leaks, and watching his recent videos I got say, I don't HATE BO6. It looks like Activision really let Treyarch cook this time, which is nice...but my opinion still stands. This is the game that should have been made years ago, not now when it's not even worth downloading due to Activision bloat that will ruin the game. I got burned with MW2019, never again. I'm not paying much attention to zombies since like I said, I am only interested in one map that I haven't hear a peep from. I tuned out of Cold War and only got it on a discount when looking up what they did with the zombies mode there, I might do the same with this game in the best possible scenario. Zombies ended with Aether back in BO4, so I am not terribly inclined to buy the game just because it has zombies anymore.
If anything, I'm more excited about the recent NX1 leak. It's more complete than other unfinished builds we're used to getting, I really want to see what they planned on doing before IW got to make Infinite Warfare.

The body shield to execution is so fucking rewarding to pull off, I swear it's better than sex when you can do it.
If you want more satisfaction, try executing a body shield on an HVT or using the Sleeper Agent ability, then body shield somebody.

Dusted off my PS4 last night and downloaded the beta. I’ve been a fan of the black ops games. Played them all except for BO4.

Despite the multiplayer being the same for years, it’s still alot of fun. What I don’t understand is, why are the aesthetics and music so modern day? The maps that I’ve played are based in the early 90s. So why is the music stuck in this decade?

How is performance on last gen consoles? I think split screen will be omitted from those versions.

Call of Duty has really leaned into modern music the past year. It annoyed me, but I figured cause it's "Modern Warfare" it was to be expected.

But now with this, I'm just happy that it isn't a straight up rap song in the menu. But it's still jarring and annoying to me (along with Adler and Parks futuristic looking skins, but I could spend forever complaining about goofy modern CoD skins)

Speaking of music, try listening to alternative metal/rock music while streaking up in Black Ops 6. Really sets the mood.

MW2022 was all the bad things that appeared at the end of MW2019 dialed up to 11. Cartoon skins, sparkly pink particles, etc. The maps tended to be overbright, but I didn't hate them by and large. A few were too big and maze-like, I remember not liking the raceway map at all. I feel like movement was sped up a bit, but mostly I was so tired of the cartoon shit that I dropped it maybe 2 months in.

Treyarch has never really given a rat's ass about period-correct aesthetics in the Black Ops series.

You get that with the wiggers who keep their mics open, with whatever terrible rap music that is new.

Ehhhh, it’s okay. My PS4 Pro has struggled with Cold War in the menus and pregame. That’s the last CoD i played. BO6 is a tad better when it comes to performance.

The most baffling thing about the Black ops 6 beta for me is how little it feels like the 90s. Even ignoring how goofy the guns look and modern optics. Characters' fashion and hairstyles don't scream the 90s. Uniforms don't scream the 90s. The maps don't look like the 90s, besides old computers. Maybe older cars. Older call of duty games had better look desert storm era skins.
