Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

CoD 2's Russian campaign is my favorite along with the D-Day segment. Hearing Russian and German chatter during combat in snow is a highlight. The D-Day level at the beginning is quite immersive.

Sledgehammer's D-Day scene is cinematic, while CoD 2's D-Day is immersive. Eisenhower's speech predating the loading level sets the stage beautifully without any flairs.

We really are going end up with just 4 zombie maps for this entire game huh. Outbreak is ok but honestly I'd take just one more round based map over it. Tank sounds kind of cool though. I'd love to see a flamethrower in zombies again too but who knows if they'll actually add it :(

Youtube leakers been claiming that Zombies may go beyond the 1 year mark and there are also rumors of Activision wanting a Year 2 for Cold War. I know youtube leakers can be a joke, but hey it isn't the first time Zombies went past the cycle of the game.

There was also those mumblings of a Zombies stand alone coming out in the vein of Warzone, which I could see being what the actual rumors of a Year 2 could turn out to be.

I tend to take leaks with a grain of salt but then again we did get leaked Die Maschine gameplay before release and that turned out to be real despite looking fake. Having a year 2 would be nice; if CoD started breaking from the yearly release cycle it could really breathe new life into the franchise.

I thought that WWII had a good D-Day at first, but there should've been more of the beach instead of more trenches.

WWII's direction was more focused on the characters. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, it's just prominent that Sledgehammer wanted to be Saving Private Ryan. World War II is merely a backdrop for Sledgehammer.

I did like that they incorporate D-Day as a multiplayer map, beach and turrets. Turrets seemed overpowered.

I'll never understand why the all those yearly franchises don't go proper mixed model when they push GAAS anyway. they could still sell yearly cod but it would also unlock stuff for their "online mode", this way you could theoretically still play old versions and they'd still be properly supported...

must be a beancounter market research thing.

I always assume there's some moronic executive that knows nothing about games who just thinks fewer games = less money

Especially when Activision wants ALL its developers on deck for Warzone. Have they learned nothing from Guitar Hero? They're just going to cannibalize themselves and the playerbase.

A few things
1) Season one has been delayed by a day (which sucks but at least it's not S1's one week delay)
2) Kitsune the new operator has an exclusive battlepass bundle skin (so yes, 20 bucks for an extra skin bros!!!)
3) All of the voicelines for the numbers event have already been leaked, including the operator lines, it's mainly Stitch taking a role similar to Richtofen in Grief
4) Depending on if hudson gets released before Mid season, we might actually get Mason operator bros..

I assumed Mason was being saved for Season 6 because the longer they hold him the more likely dumbasses will play 24 dollars for a great value Mason just like they did with great value Soap.

Although I kind of hope for it just to see all the "black ops 2 is still totally canon!" guys have a stroke.

Development HAS to be bad when another dev has to assist.

We need to keep in mind that Sledgehammers last game was a WWII game as well. So you'd THINK they'd be primed to work on another one.

But they need assistance from Treyarch who are currently supporting their own game while also having no experience with the MW engine which I assume is what they will be using for this.

They need to let Sledgehammer go and realize Call of Duty doesn't need to be a yearly release anymore. Holy shit I think everyone would have rather had another year of Modern Warfare and Black Ops that didn't feel like a buggy unfinished mess than another Sledgehammer WWII game.

It's Sledgehammer in name only. Let's not forget that its co-founder (Glen Schofield) got promoted to a higher position at Activision before leaving the company to create his own studio.

Sledgehammer needs to be let go They're dragging this franchise down
They're unproven. Infinity Ward started CoD, but reached their peak with CoD4. Treyarch similarly reached their peak with Black Ops. What does Sledgehammer have under their belt? Modern Warfare 3? I mean they were co-developing it with Infinity Ward. But I'm counting it.
