All the issues that have been rearing their ugly head over the last couple of decades have hit their boiling point. Inflation is insane, so insane that the cost of living month over month now gets more difficult to maintain. The concept of the middle class died long ago, you are either rich, or poor on government assistance. Immigration is ridiculous, so ridiculous that they will literally just take anyone and their dog in at this point for fake prosperity points. Even though these are the same people that add very little to the economy and just drain the already strained government services. You cannot say what you think, you cannot go into a building without a middle, and you cannot go even on an evening out with out having the violation of personal privacy known as the Vax passes.

Housing prices are some of the highest in the globe at this stage, and more people by the day are losing their collective asses because of the absurd cost of living anymore. All of the jobs have been outsourced to third world shit holes. The ones that are left, barely pay enough for the basic amenities. The taxing has gotten so out of control that you can kiss a good chunk of your pay cheque goodbye off the top.

The only solutions are the same neoliberal dog shit solutions that have never worked but yet you still have the same bugmen advocates still pushing the same dogma, it's a fucking crap shoot really. My advice to anyone thinking of coming here, don't.

There is a watchdog article (I will link it when I find it again) stating that Canada now has more than 1 million homeless people (this includes the hidden homeless, working and living in their cars) due to our outrageous costs of living. If this is true, in a country of only 38 million that is a shockingly high amount of people. That would also mean our poverty rate is about triple the U.S per capita. As I said before, working hard will not get you ahead in Canada.

Amusingly, people never seem to make the connection between those two halves of the equation. It's odd how the smallest province in the country (Prince Edward Island) has a massive Asian population. I always heard about the Asian population in BC but not only is Anne of Green Gables beloved in Asian countries, but there is a large Buddhist temple who owns large plots of land (including a Buffalo sanctuary after the province could no longer bother to care about 100 buffalo Alberta donated to them).

There is a law there that the only way you can now own land is to be a permanent resident because they were losing large chunks to foreign investors. If you aren't a permanent resident, you need one to co-sign on the bill of sale as a partial owner. They truly believe they are the first and will be the last Canadians standing and have amped up their racism over the past decade to combat outsiders.

I'm surprised to make it to page three without a mention of Doug Ford, brother of dead crackhead mayor Rob Ford, who is now the Premier of Ontario and has done everything in his power to absolutely cripple the Ontario economy. I believe he also removed caps on rent increases, contributing to the ongoing housing crisis. Regardless of personal politics, I've yet to see anyone applaud a success Doug Ford has had. This is a man who ran on a platform that he would make beer $1. And people actually elected him.

Several cities in Ontario are suffering from urban sprawl as developers buy up what was once farmland and create McMansions that will deteriorate in a decade. Immigrants then pool their money together and buy these homes and have several generations of people living there, including sets of seniors and children unable to contribute. Then they rent out the illegal basements converted by them for $2k a month to pay for expenses and/or a mortgage.

I believe the most recent election which they scrambled together in thirty days cost 600 million dollars. While the healthcare system remains backed up, overrun or nearly inaccessible in some cases - after telling Canadians to sit at home so they didn't overrun their poorly funded ICUs with Covid cases.

The Canadian attitude has shifted during Covid. Perhaps the rest of the world won't notice because the reputation is so ingrained that they are polite and friendly. Canadians have always been the most passive aggressive people though - and their passiveness seems to be running out. Whether they react in ignorant aggression and contribute to the dumpster fire or quickly come to terms and revolutionize with reactionary aggression remains to be seen.

As a side note to add about Quebec - Montreal is the only major city with 2010 rent rates. You can find an extremely nice two bedroom apartment for $800 all inclusive. No one wants to learn French though. I also mention renting because any Canadian not born to moderately wealthy parents will never buy a house in their lifetime, let alone qualify for a mortgage or reasonable down payment.

My last last sperg is I haven't seen anyone mention the quiet opiod & drug epidemic almost every major Canadian city has. It is not a utopia. There is no Canadian dream. Some of these places look like stretches of Philadelphia and people freeze to death drunk and on drugs.

I sit on the mental fence about Harper. I agree, 2011 Canada was much more sane. But Harper still create policies to bite us in the ass later on like TFW's and corporate bailouts. Trudeau seems on an economic level to be much more neoliberal than Harper and Harper was himself neoliberal. But Trudeau's version of neliberalism has been catastrophic. The economy here (as everyone knows) is terrible and that was pre-covid. I really saw the downfall sometime in 2018 when things just got ''weird'' to say the least. To specify the ''weird'' I just started to get a feeling that Canada was becoming increasingly poor. I saw little signs all around me. But at the same time there was a huge influx of wealthy Chinese to shop in our luxury stores and drive Bugatti Chiron's down through the GTA.

With the inevitable collapse on the way, plus Trudeau becoming increasingly more authoritarian, the truth about the child rape schools coming out and the housing crisis radicalizing even the most hardened white nationalist in Canada, I really don’t see it ending well for leftists here. The fact they have to double down is a symptom that they know they’re losing control.
