I've stopped perusing r/Canada and the local/provincial boards for this reason. Almost every political thread is botted and/or astroturfed, especially the polling crap, making it hard to even get an accurate read on the usual Redditor retardation.
I've complained about it already here a few times, but I had to do the same thing with the much more RW-leaning
r/Canada_sub.
It used to be my go-to for skimming RW-relevant Canadian news headlines, but it's become insufferable with spamming Carney/Poilievre junk articles top-to-bottom since the writ drop.
Maybe just speaking for myself, but there are some former lifelong liberals who are leaning towards voting conservative this time, we're just very quiet about it. Not participating in reddit threads or "liking" anything on social media, not getting polled, not even talking about it amongst friends and colleagues. Just quietly waiting.
I'm sure lawn signs are an awful metric, but even just walking dogs around different parts of my riding, the number of Conservative signs is at least a little bit whitepilling.
In a riding that I don't think the Conservatives have ever held, or at least not in relevant memory.
There was an example from the British news thread where a woman had gone to the hospital because she had a condition known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. For those that don't know, this syndrome causes hormonal imbalances, irregular periods and painful cysts in the women who suffer from it.
This woman was worried she had contracted an infection that she had had before, and was related to the PCOS. The Indian doctor listened to her comments, then blankly asked her "What are ovaries?"
While admittedly not reading the case, I would guess that the British article was histrionically overselling the severity of the patient's Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) for feminism & sensationalism reasons.
PCOS is essentially metabolic syndrome in women. They are fat, the condition gives them pseudo-diabetes/insulin resistance, literally makes them hairy, makes their periods stop or very irregular, makes them infertile, literally turns their skin nigger brown, etc.
Long-story short, PCOS = ham beast, even if it's a genetic quirk and no fault of their own.
The "polycystic ovaries" part of the condition is mostly an ultrasound pathognomonic visual identifier that has very little relevance to the actual condition. The condition is much more related to a predominance in the production and effects of male-type androgen hormones than the female estrogenic ones.
Ovarian cysts themselves can certainly be painful, but their clinical relevance in terms of serious health dangers, particularly in it being bad enough for hospitalization, is basically underheard of.
