A new Alberta Sheriffs Team will soon begin to crack down on illegal activity along Alberta’s 298-kilometre border with Montana, Premier Danielle Smith announced Thursday.
The move to create the new Interdiction Patrol Team (IPT) comes less than three weeks after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said he will slap a 25 per cent import tariff on all goods entering the U.S. from Canada and Mexico unless they take measures to tackle the flow of illegal drugs, particularly fentanyl, and immigrants into the U.S.
The IPT will have 51 uniformed officers, four drug patrol dogs, 10 drones that can operate during cold weather and high winds, four narcotics analyzers to test for illicit drugs, and 10 support staff. It will run a 24-hour operation.

Yes. They are intrinsically tied together in some of the biggest liberal scandals. Ford stood right beside Trudeau in much of the covid PR. Same goes for immigration & all these auto-industry related scandals (failing battery factories, the VW plant subsidy, etc) they've benefited in much the same manner from those grifts. They are partners, not enemies. Any of their disagreements are mostly political posturing.

I cannot believe the state of Canadian conservatism: trying to epicly own Blumpf, and criticising the damn inefficient statist libs for not giving wholesome refugees working visas fast enough.

What a country.
 
I know this is the thread where we bitch about the state of this country, but I just want to say that it's an absolute pleasure to see Quebec and NL mutually throw out the Churchill Falls contract as it stands and replace it with a new one that practically brings life back to NL. The uplifting effect its had on everyone I talk to has been something that feels so long overdue, and all because someone in Quebec actually managed to find their humanity and look into it with fresh eyes.

It's a small light of hope in otherwise bleak times. I'll take your rainbows, because for once I'm truly optimistic.

One small comfort is that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith appears to be distancing herself from Ford as she's not going to cut off energy exports.
 
If the Canadian economy goes tits up, the domino effect will likely kick the feet out from a big chunk of the global economy. Thanks globalism! Thanks ponzi economics!

As if the current situation wasn't bad enough, Trump tariffs will pour fuel on the fire. And you better believe it'll hurt the Americans too if our production of raw material that they need for their industries is slowed down. That's why I suspect he's doing the businessman bluff he's known for, but I wouldn't put it past him either

Either way, America is going to tighten its grip on the nation to keep itself fueled as the world becomes increasingly multipolar

“[J]ust a few weeks ago, the United States voted for a second time to not elect its first woman president," Justin Trudeau said on Wednesday during a speech to the Ottawa gala for Equal Voice.. "...women's rights and women's progress" are "under attack." What Trudeau failed to mention in his address, however, is that progressive Canada has done little better.

About two weeks earlier, on November 30, Trudeau met at Mar-a-Lago with president-elect Trump. It was then that Trump threatened Canada with stiff tariffs if it didn’t help to stem the flow of illegal immigrants and fentanyl into the U.S. Donald Trump, responding to Trudeau’s resistance to tariffs, retorted jokingly with a healthy dose of “Trumpian Toxic Masculinity,” suggesting that maybe Canada should become the U.S. 51st state if it is unable to afford the tariffs.
So, I guess it’s understandable that Trudeau would choose a feminist event for “an organization that works to get more women elected to public office,” as the place for making his passive-aggressive accusation that the U.S. of regressing on women’s rights and advancement.
