waiting 6 hours for free treatment vs receiving medical treatment and being financially ruined by debt. This is a very difficult choice. You know you can buy private healthcare right? the public option is there so that people aren't forced to become homeless due to a hospital bill.

I think the canadian government is hedging their bets by getting closer to china/india. America is a clusterfuck of transexual satan worshipping jews and we have no way of knowing when they are going to implode.

Let's see how close China and India, even the rest of the BRICS, they want to accept Canada in its current state because Canada is also in a clusterfuck state.

Modern healthcare is worse though, moreso because it will literally take you a year to get a cancer screening, which used to be drastically more prompt (a matter of weeks)

Canada healthcare is demanding the ambulance send you to the 'right' hospital because some hospitals are quite literally the equivalent of hospice care, and then trying to ensure you keep your spot there no matter what.

The bigger thing for Canadians is that the economy going tits up will lead to the real estate bubble imploding and impoverishing probably half the country who had relied on real estate as a nest egg.
 
given the fact that canada (the entire country) has about the same population as california, give or take a few million, I'm not too worried about canada "collapsing"

Both times I've had to call an ambulance they asked which hospital we wanted to go to, there are 4-5 real options in my city.

AFAIK you don't get a choice in immediate life or death situations, there's a regional trauma center and otherwise it's the closest.

I think indians occupy both ends of the spectrum. Arabs are two-faced moneygrubbers. Chinese keep to themselves and have their own closed off community.

I've seen indians that were the most entitled pieces of dogshit and others that volunteered in their spare time to help the homeless. It's a mixed bag. If I had to choose, I'd work with chinese because they leave you alone and just do their work. Arabs and indians will go out of their way to fuck you over for no reason.

This article mentions The Fraser Institute. The fraser institute is a think tank funded by some of the wealthiest people on the planet(past donaters include the koch brothers). These institutions are hellbent on dismantling public services for profit. They are trying to dismantle the canadian healthcare system. They are the ones that have blocked americans getting universal healthcare at every turn.
 
If I'm remembering correctly, the goals for Canada have always been keep the French in and the Americans out. The country was able to stand on its own feet through its loyalist and appeased French population, in limited cooperation with native American groups. That is a simple basis for Canadian identity. To complexify it, the immigrants who thrived and gave character to the Praries included Germanic immigrants. People may argue that the 'stalwart peasant in a sheep skin coat' of the yesteryears is the 'hard-working' indian immigrant today, but it simply is not true. There is an ineptitude and scammy nature to modern mass migration which has not given any sense of character to their settlements, and has had net negative social and economic effects due to nepotism of wealthy immigrants and incompetence.

Disregarding the French, British and Germanic histories in favor of the idea that Canada is a 'post-national' state makes its separation from the United States even less sensible. What justifies Canada being separate from America if does not have a distinct identity and instead has similar demographic goals as America?

The fact that the average soft nationalist liberal who has hammered out the need for Canadian programming and content in the past does not recognize the disaster of the 'post-national' doctrine shows that Canada is up 'schitt's creek' without a paddle.

You know what's retarded? Only a tiny fraction of Ottawa's population lives downtown and very few people were ever affected by the truckers.

Even if you expand the definition of downtown to include the old streetcar suburbs like the Glebe it's single digit percentage of the city's population, but the actual downtown core is more like a few thousand people.

They may have pissed off a small town's worth of people with the train horn but most of the city didn't even notice or care.
