Capcom Unveils Its New Dinosaur Game, Exoprimal - Dino Crisis Fans Ignored Yet Again

Definitely worth it. If only Sony got their heads out of their asses and focused on adding the full Playstation library to PSN instead of slowly cutting off access to the backlog
Parasite Eve would be Square Enix though and they've only brought over the final fantasies. Like we're missing Valkyrie Profile, Brave Fencer Musashi, Vagrant Story, and a ton of other RPGs from that era. The last time games like Valkyrie Profile had a re-release was on the PSP.

Square has done some real retarded things when it comes to their old games, Dragon Quest 1-3 were digital only for a limited time and region specific. After the promotion was over they pulled them from the playstation store.

?why does every new game that is futuristic or has robots or futuristic guns or technology ALL look like the art and visual direction was designed and performed by the exact same art school dropout redditor? even the new doom games are just master chief in hell and all the guns and robots and cities in all these games look exactly alike and are always fucking ugly

Sweet, I know what I'm doing tonight then!
Just to give some teasers for your experience, heres a monkey when the Mitochondria in any biological beings body decides "Workers of the body, UNITE!" and initiate a forced evolution on the body. It gets worse from here.

TBF with Parasite Eve, it is based on a book so the rights are probably long gone. It's why we have "The 3rd Birthday" and the retarded plot it had, not Parasite Eve 3 (note they go out of there way to never mention mitochondria in the datalogs about prior characters like Eve and Kyle. Even Aya's power is just handwaved as "some gimmick lol").

Interesting book, still got my hardcover edition from a zillion years ago. All the stuff Maeda talks about involving another Eve in Japan before the New York City one appeared in game is about what happened in the book (Square's game being a sequel).

The book is pretty creepy too, lots of detailed explanations and descriptions for all the shenanigans Eve gets up to. Too bad the first 50 pages are a slog to go through before we get to the really creepy shit.

Movie is solid as well, even with the ending change.

Probably not the best idea in the world to depict a 13 year old girl giving birth to a full grown woman. Peoples eyeballs exploding from its screams though would of been dope.

The chaos at the hospital with Eve causing nurses and patients to combust is a standout scene and genuinely frightning how she spares no one.

It's just bad design. Be it realistic or unrealistic styles, PS1 or PS4, there's better designs than the gross shit Capcom and Square put out (and it wasn't always that way).
I miss outfit designs more than anything tbh.

The Threemake slapping Jill into a tank top and Jeans just made me shake my head. That's a fine outfit for reference but I feel like every female action protagonist these days is only allowed to wear that.

RE1 Jill with her beret and shoulder pads? Iconic. Tubetop Skirt Jill from RE3? Radical. Shit, I love her RE5 Mercs design with the baseball cap and wouldn't mind seeing more of it or anything like it. Nah. Here's your generic female action hero outfit.

Dino Crisis may be cool and all, but you know what I want to see come back? Parasite Eve, deadass.

Seriously, that series had KILLER monster design, alongside a bitchin' soundtrack and plot. The combat was really unique too, and the upgrade system adds a lot of replayability.

This rat here mogs most modern survival horror monster designs.
Good fucking luck getting Squeenix to acknowledge something that's not Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. I'd kill for a remake of Parasite Eve just to see an HD rendition of the scene where Eve melts an entire audience of people and congeals their flesh into a giant blob.

Shit, I'd love to see an HD version of the museum having all of its dinosaur bones being "Reused" by Eve as undead mutant dinosaurs.

Also WOW it took not too long before this thread got derailed. This is now a Parasite Eve thread lol.

Different company but as long as we're talking about RPGs from that era, I'd kill for a re-release or remake of Vanguard Bandits.

Shit, even keeping in the wheelhouse of Squeenix, they have a handful of titles I'd like to see re-released at least.

Vagrant Story, Einhander, Brave Fencer Musashi...The list could go on and on.

On one hand, I'd love me a BFM remaster/remake.

On the other hand, they'd completely fuck it up and never recreate the charm of it, I'm sure. I mean, look at Samurai Legend *shudders*

I feel the same way about Dino Crisis. I'd like remakes, but at this point I feel like they'd fuck it up. Dino Crisis doesn't have the fanbase of Resident Evil to keep Capcom in check.

Capcom: "We're introducing a new game, a game about a crisis involving dinosaurs, a "dino crisis" if you will, you can also play as a redheaded female character, we call the game... EXOPRIMAL!"
I should be angrier. I really should.

But then I remember that Capcom will also never do another Onimusha or Shadow of Rome either, so...

It's probably a similar reason to why all the "adult cartoons" look like bootleg Family Guy. "How are people supposed to know it's Sci-Fi if it isn't this specific art-style?"
I remember circumsoldier (rip) saying it looked like a shitty korean MMO and was pissed off that all the guns and armour are ugly geometric shapes with layers and layers of non-functional greeble.

I still don't understand why Shadow of Rome so sank without a trace other than being released right before DMC3 and after RE4, same deal with Haunting Ground.

But Haunting Ground managed to squire a cult following over time, Shadow of Rome is unknown even to most Capcom diehards, the game has some obvious flaws but still deserved more attention than it got.

*Shrug* I guess people just didn't want anything other than...whatever was popular. Didn't matter how tight and satisfyingly violent Shadow was.

Honestly, dropping Onimusha was even more baffling. True, Dawn of Dreams didn't set the world on fire (I found it a bit meh after having played 3), but it wasn't a bad game by any stretch and the franchise had never failed to be profitable for them.

The people I've convinced to actually play it whether by emulator or OG hardware have always said "Why did this game fail, this is a blast!"

The thing with Onimusha is Capcom evidently used to have this policy that a series would only have a set number of entries and then conclude in favor of a new generation of new series.

They stated that Onimusha was only meant to be a trilogy and hyped up the third game as the "grand finale" which is probably why Dawn of Dreams was met with a shrug since they hyped up Onimusha "ending" and then expect people to get excited for another game two years later?, RE4 was originally slated to be the finale of Resident Evil, obviously Capcom changed their minds about this but Onimusha was evidently a victim of this older mindset.

Sandwiched between RE4 and DMC3 both of which got way, way more hype, more advertising etc than Shadow of Rome got.

But I do also think the stealth sequences hurt it as frankly they sometimes suck.
