Chainsaw Man - Peak Fiction in the making

finally got around to reading the new chapter. Good shit so far. I’m guessing the timeskip is probably around 6 months to a year? Given that 3 months just gets casually fast-forwarded.

The main question now is obviously, what exactly is the extent of Chainsaw Man’s erasure power? Clearly the implication is that it can be reversed, but how many people/demons even know about the erased concepts? I guess I never really thought about how Makima knew about all the previously erased concepts but she’s clearly not unique if the War Devil is also aware of at least nuclear weapons having existed in a prior iteration of the timeline.

Right now my theory is the War Devil is a bait and switch antagonist, and that she’ll end up teaming up with Denji around about halfway through to fight the actual final boss.

Double post, but chapter three is out. Some fallout from the Chicken Devil.

I'm kind of surprised we didn't get anything special for the 100th chapter. Even just a Pochita drawing with a like "Thanks for 100" or something like each chapter in the physical manga ends with. I don't know it just seems like a good milestone.

As for Part 2 it does seem slower than Part 1 but I'm enjoying it. The War Devil is interesting and its neat seeing a more or less adjusted human being getting dragged into being a Hybrid unlike Denji who was so broken that he just leapt into it. As for the War Devil's plan to make Chainsaw puke up the Nuke Devil it will be interesting to see. Especially if he pukes up the other devils he's eaten like the Nazi and Holocaust Devils that he were also mentioned as him consuming in Part 1.

I was recently wondering if MAPPA was powderizing more animator wrists than usual and that's why the adaptation hasn't started airing by now-- that, and if they were going to hold off on airing it given that a major antagonist is the "Gun Devil" and Shinzo Abe was recently assassinated with a gun in a country with generally effective gun control.

Honestly, I'm just interested to see how they'll handle the adaptation. The manga has a sort of "refined lack of refinement"-- the art is consistent and generally well-executed, yeah, but it's not polished and smooth, and that lends very well to the "psychotic" (for lack of a better word) and egregious aspects of the action as well as the comedy (censorship aside, this artstyle at first glance doesn't look very conducive to Denji having his mouth puked in moments before he reflexively swallows said puke by force of poor boy habit).

I'm certain they'll have to figure out their own way to carry that spirit. I couldn't predict how they'd go about it.

I hope it’s like a Mob Psycho 100 sort of thing where they want to match the look of the manga.
