It would be my guess that a rape charge is incoming.

I'm guessing Chris kept begging the cops to go home when they were interrogating him, and the cops said, "Well, we can talk about that right after you tell us everything you did... and here, sign this confession." He probably believed them and thought the arraignment was his chance to get to go home since he was a good boy and told the truth.

One thing to note from the article about the arraignment... Chris's lawyer didn't meet him until just before court. That means that Chris didn't ask for a lawyer while he was being questioned.
