Christian Dominionists - Bible Versus Constitution

I know conservative Christians in my college (the first one I went to) actually begged the dean of the art department to not have to take the life drawing class. Basically, they thought any lust you get is automatic cheating on your future spouse.

What kind of sexually repressed nutjob gets aroused over drawing a fucking nude model?

I'm from Pensacola so I'm well aware of PCC. I'm also a Christian, but I would have never gone there for numerous reasons: not properly accredited, restrictive rules on how to live your life (for example, you can only listen to church music or classical music), theological disagreements, etc. When I was in college, I had a coworker -- a very sweet girl -- who told me I should go there. She said it was beautiful and peaceful and "like being in another world". I think I told her I would think about it to humor her.

I drive by the PCC complex when I go across town sometimes and it's pretty big. I heard they have an ice skating rink, of all things to have in the hot, humid South! But to me, the amenities aren't worth giving up your personal freedom.
How in the hell does a college regulate one's musical tastes? Do they screen your phone after every class? Do they have microphones and cameras in your dorm? Will I get smote down by the wrath of god because I listened to heretical J-Pop?

So I was reading some student reviews about PCC, and read this.

Sounds like a cult, cleverly disguised as a college.

I hate, hate, hate these types of people. I'm a politically-active Republican, and I'm also a Christian. Most Republicans acknowledge that the Bible shouldn't be used when crafting public policy or for political purposes. Not so for these people. A lot of them were activated politically in '09/'10 during the tea party wave. Their worldview is so narrow that I legitimately think that they think that Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, etc know that God and Jesus are real, but they believe differently just to be assholes or something. I once dropped a consulting contract for a campaign because the guy (who went on to lose in the primary, thankfully) wanted to make "the threat of Sharia law" and "the gays" the centerpiece of his campaign.

I had originally written this post with like twenty paragraphs and several individual stories, but it was getting to be too much of a rant and kind of spergy haha.

I admit I detest these people, mostly because they miss a point Jesus himself made very explicit: There is a Kingdom of Man and a Kingdom of God, as in, two different things, and he came here to set the foundations for the latter, not to make the former the latter.

These are the kind of people who believe different ways of thinking function like infections that must be quarantined, and that a mind considering other opinions is diseased and must be treated. Radical christians, radical Islam, SJWs, militant atheists... all the same. I'm an atheist and some of the most interesting conversations I have are with religious people who aren't domineering cowards afraid to accept difference in the world.

It's not just Pensacola. I'm pretty sure all the colleges in my area are run by rednecks. I thought about going to TFC at one point, but then I read the rules online. If you're not completely straight they kick you off campus. If you watch anything worse than, I dunno, iCarly, they'll ban you for that too. You can't listen to The Beatles, wear shorts, or even say darn. It's infuriating. I'm currently working on getting a tuition at Clemson, which is two or three hours away, but I'm willing to sacrifice being farther away from my family for my own personal freedom.

So does this place have a particularly high rate of suicides because what's the fucking point of being alive there?

I doubt it. Universities like this probably aren't too strict about academics, which is what usually provides the stress necessary to drive someone to suicide.

So what you're saying is that everyone that goes there is already an empty husk of a human being, then?
