Straighten out a concept for me. From a settlement can we infer that the defendants and/or their lawyers think a case wouldn't go their way or would be too costly to defend so they offered Chris unspecified terms to avoid dragging it out and making it worse? Or are there other reasons to settle?
We have no info. Either party could have been bled dry by this and decided to come to a mutually beneficial agreement. I doubt it is about merits, Avellone proved his once already, but again. we have no info even on who proposed it.
No settlement will ever give him his reputation back.
No, but if the other party will be forced to admit they lied under its terms, that would certainly help

It doesn't really in the age of the internet. Time and time again someone is legally required to post a public apology, and the comments and replies are full of people repeating the lies because they still believe them and think the 'victim' has been silenced, not exposed.

It's one of the reasons cancel culture is such a pernicious, damaging thing - because the accusations can be made to be retracted, can have mountains of evidence against them, but every time the person gets brought up there will be a number of people repeating the accusations as truth, forever linking the victim of false accusations with a crime they didn't commit because nutters prefer the narrative over reality.

All it takes is a random number of people with a grudge and too much free time, and these forums are proof of just how many people match that description. It's also very hard for sane people to fathom just how much damage even one obsessed person can do; socking alone can make a vindictive person resemble a mob of accusers, and that's just one tool in a harasser's arsenal.

So I'd hope for a public apology, since a settlement won't get a public retraction. But that doesn't affect the other women, not even the one who was on a different continent at the time of the accusation, and it won't affect any other women or simps in the industry immediately resuming the lies.

At least a few more people will know that you can never appease the mob so you shouldn't even try. That message never seems to reach employers, though, which is particularly infuriating.

I didn't say it would solve the issue, but it certainly would help

@Useful_Mistake Keep an eye out for statements by Avellone and Barrows on social media (assuming their accounts are still active).

Barrows' twitter is on private:
Avellone's isn't and he is actively tweeting (not about the case):

Her Twitter bio and pic is all the proof I need to know she lied clear out her fucking ass. Everyone who thinks of “drinking coffee” as a notable personality trait worth mentioning not once but TWICE in a very short executive summary of “who they are” is a perniciously malevolent person. I’ve yet to be proven wrong. That shit is boring. In fact nothing in her bio actually tells us anything about her as a human person - which ironically tells us everything about her as a human person. A blank bio is more relatable on a human level.

Edit: also not surprised she ran away with donor funds meant for stupid shit. Seems to be a trend with these danger-hairs. Who was it that got away with the biggest haul? I’m thinking it was that Feminist Frequency bitch, Sarkeesian or whatever, who predictably fell off the radar at some point. Wasn’t at all shocked when her (mostly troon) employees revealed what a piece of shit she was. A “feminist progressive” has to have really fallen off for a troon to turn on her. Anyway, nothing is shocking about this Barrow bitch. It’s funny she implies she’s ever gonna be able to ever get back into conventions or IRL fandom activities and not have this follow her around permanently. Choice meets consequence.

Edit 2: and hopefully, if he hasn’t been ruined on women, Chris has learned to date OUTSIDE of games fandom. The ratio of “crazy bitches” to “sane wifey material” in games is NOT in men’s favor - I even dare say regardless of political leaning.

Just a quick question: so the lawsuit with Barrows has been settled, but what is this lawsuit in Oklahoma about? Kelly Bristol? Or is it Barrows, again, but in a different venue?

It's a shame that Bloodlines 2 had to die cause of this dumb bitch but atleast Chris isn't getting Vic'd
Bloodlines 2 is I think the clearest smoking gun yet how Woke is ruining video game development in the west, there's zero reason the game couldn't have come as was shown in 2019, instead Woke retards sperged out and it was canceled.

If you own a developer and want to actually release a profitable game the first thing you should do is kick anyone with dyed hair out, the industry will crash 1983 style if it doesn't learn this lesson.

I've seen Woke assholes on Twitter openly mock people apologizing for shit, so why does anyone bother and not just tell them to fuck off?

Human society can definitely function without the concept of apology and forgiveness because we all know the good people never make mistakes.

Hold your horses partner! That take seems... kinda yikes! Whoa! umm....this ain't it chief! Chungus!

Sorry about that. In all honesty, I'm not sure whether or not it is going to be woke. This franchise has been cursed with development hell. The first game was fucked with the deadlines, and the curse continues with the sequel. The problem with media nowadays is that any brainlet of a faggot can go online and start complaining about stupid shit; this criticism would then be considered """"""""""""""""""""""valid""""""""""""""""""""""""" criticism even though it is extremely shit in every way possible. Certain criticism will not be valid if it does not align with a certain framework of beliefs however. This is where the wokeification comes in. This all stems from the problem of everything becoming interconnected with each other. All media, platforms, news sites. A certain set of beliefs have taken hold. The developers have to take into consideration whether or not a small detail will offend someone online which is pretty fucking ridiculous. We have seen the sperging with Hogwart's Legacy. Most people especially video game developers aren't going to be able to handle that type of heat. I doubt most people who spout shit about "giving extra care to minorities and oppressed voices" even practice what they say. The worst part about it all is that people take the shit they see from the Internet seriously.

From what I understand how it went down, the original game suffered from issues with regards to using a beta Source engine, the sequel was using UE4 which I'm sure was a more reliable engine.

The trouble started with them running the original lead writer of 2 off for whatever reason and doing shit like wanting to add the 2020 Floyd riots into the game because that has a lot to do with vampires.

In other words the devs cared far more about virtue signaling than making a good game, if this doesn't lead to a broken game, it leads to at least a mediocre one.

If you want to know why he settled, look no further than the $133,340 in attorney's fees Karissa was awarded when she prevailed in the California anti-slapp appeal. Dropping the Illinois lawsuit against her was a bargaining chip he had to reduce or eliminate those costs.
