Chrono Trigger/Cross

I have no idea what Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is. Let's just check the ol' Wikipedia, and...

...oh no

so I'm gonna guess it's just "we're adding Chrono Cross themed content to our phone game, here's a remake of the intro to Cross with characters from this thing to get your member berries activated". Maybe they just had all the new character assets from Chrono Cross Remastered ready to go and decided to chuck them into the mobile game for that sweet sweet cash.

The characters look way better than I could have imagined they would. Nobody looks influenced by current year, and even these screencaps look like they could have been fanart on their own. If the proper CC remaster actually kept up this visual quality throughout the game, I'd get re

It's Square-Enix, though, and it's really hard to imagine they'd keep up the quality for all the bizarre-ass Z-list characters like Macha and Lucky Dan.

Well, that was fun, it was nice seeing S-E acknowledge Chrono Cross for the first time in literally over 20 years.
Crono is a very special franchise to Em over there. I would be very surprised if they half assed it.

Chrono Cross remaster is in the works, people just don't know if it will be like FF8 and 9 Remaster or is it going to be like Trials of Mana remake or Final Fantasy 7R.
While that's apparently some nostalgiabait mobage tie-in, but it's probably going to happen eventually given this thing keeps ending up in top 10 lists.
Turning into a different genre would be the best bet, given Chrono Trigger's gameplay is incredibly shallow and you can copy the experience of mashing A to beat everything but possibly make it fun.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

Personally I'm a big fan of the game, so I'm hoping this doesn't completely suck, but it's a modern remaster so they'll probably fuck it up.
I'd rather have Radical Dreamers as a stand alone release. I'm not playing Chrono Cross again. Fuck that game. Fuck Chronopolis. Reptite ending from Chrono Trigger should be canon.

There's actually a ton of graphical options available, from changing the text to the backgrounds and everything inbetween. I've not seen a remaster for as cheap as this ($20) in a long time.

The filtering/upscaling is all or nothing, so I don't think there's as many options as you think.
*The 3D models, illustrations, font and background filter cannot be toggled separately. They will all be switched together.

The filtering is... eh. Seems like a quick and cheap AI upscale, but at least it doesn't look as godawful as the FF9 'remaster' which made all the backgrounds look muddy.

I still twitch a little bit when I think about how obnoxious it was to get the "true ending" of that game.

And it had the gall to think I'd replay it to try to get the entire cast of majority useless characters. I think only people who didn't know you could ignore saving Kid didn't just autopilot with Double Einlanzer Glenn.

This is a day 1 game. I usually don't do that, but it's Chrono, one of the few series I'll make an exception for.

I would almost be scared this game selling well would inspire Squenix to make a new Chrono game. I read a long time ago that there were a lot of messy internal politics preventing whatever Chrono Break was supposed to be from happening, but maybe some folks have moved on since then.

Or worse: Chrono Trigger: Remake.

Time jannies are canon and the multiverse is real.

Yeah, it was called most of the people who worked on the Chrono games jumping ship and founding Monolith Soft way back in the late PS1/early PS2 era after getting fucked over by Square during the development of Xenogears.

Trigger is a good game, I enjoy it but it’s also hideously overrated.

Only watched my friend play Cross back in the day. I liked the soundtrack but the actual game didn’t really hold my interest
I may sound like a screaming fanboy but IMO Trigger isn't -that- overrated. At the time it came out it was a huge technological achievement that pushed the snes console so its limits, I group it with stuff like Tales of Phantasia.

The story is pretty simple but the game's presentation is what makes it so damn good. It deserves its praise.

As for the remaster ill be buying it just like I did for Saga frontier, LoM and the pixel remaster shit. I'm a horrible buyfag. I'd prefer it if we got extra content ala Saga Frontier remaster (the best one of the re-release titles) because I played radical dreamers and its meh. Nice music though.
