Cigars thread

There's nothing on God's green Earth like a good cigar! I'm quite fond of Rocky Patel, especially the Decade. Some of my other favorites are the Oliva Serie O, Gurkha Beast, Carlos Torano Exodus, and the AB Tempus. For something different, I love the Drew Estate Tabak Especial. It's coffee infused and has a sweet wrapper. I've seen it accurately described as a dessert cigar. It's one of those things I have to be in the mood for, but it's delicious. I have to keep those in a separate humidor, otherwise any other cigars that come in to contact with them will start to take on that sweet coffee flavor.

Mostly I purchase from CI. Even with everything going on I've been getting my packages in a reasonable amount of time. Plus, they have a bunch of good samplers, and often have seconds from RP and AB, so you can save some cash if you don't mind your smokes un-banded. I try to throw some purchases at a couple of local shops, but it's hard to beat online pricing. Ohio sucks because there's a new excise tax that has basically doubled the amount of taxes I have to pay.

Rocky patel is true boomer core! But in all seriousness those are some fine sticks. My only problem with RP is that their is some QC issue with a lot of their mid range stuff I've noticed. Lots of faulty caps and cracked wrappers. I know its not my humidor since all my other cigars do fine.

Stupid question from a non-smoker: Are Cuban cigars really that good or is it just a forbidden fruit thing?

I've recently gotten back in to smoking cigars after a decade of abstaining. Mostly with a good friend who never really smoked them before, but got willed a fridge sized humidor by his grandfather and decided to stock it. We've started a Friday evening tradition since we're in the same neighborhood of taking the family to one another's houses and sharing a meal, then going to the patio and letting the kids swim, the wives gossip and lighting something new and drinking bourbon while listening to music. After about 3 months I've wasted well over a grand on this shit (not including bourbon) and I just want to see if I'm considered a boomer or bougie now.

But as for brands, i know snobs hate them but Acid Kuba's, Toasts and Blondies are probably my favorites. We've gone down to Nogales and grabbed other more exotic shit, and I like Ghurka's fine, but I just love me some sweet smokes I guess

Smoking is of the devil and you are ruining the beautiful gift of your body that the Lord gave you. How dare you pollute His temple with stinky smoke.

I didn't know we had a cigar thread, so that's neat.
I quite enjoy the Intemperance cigars, the Virtue Short Robusto in particular is a go to for just smoking and chilling for a bit. I like shorter cigars in general, it's just a time thing.
I would recommend these to someone who doesn't really smoke cigars but likes them. My local store sells them for six dollars, they're nice and mild, very smooth, and taste great. A bit sweet, but not like a gas station Swisher Sweet, just on the sweet side of things.

Double posting, but I like cigars and talking about them, and it's a slow thread anyways.
Earlier I talked about a nice, lighter cigar that I would recommend to anyone from beginners up. Now I want to talk about a darker one that is in the same vein, cost and beginner friendliness.
The AJ Fernandez Last Call Maduro is a nice, darker cigar that still has a present sweetness and some good, strong flavor but is still a very smooth smoke. It's both a good cigar to branch out into darker varieties and just a good solid smoke in general. Again, my local store has it for around six bucks, so it's a good price for most people. Some chocolate, some spice I would say, a nice sweetness that isn't crazy sweet but still pleasant, it's one I would go to if I want something darker.1668321575177.png

I'v been on a kick of cigars made by AJ Fernandez lately for some reason.
I just tried a Hoyo La Amistad Gold Robusto, and I'll be real it was very nice. Pretty strong, but man the flavor was just so enjoyable it's worth a shot even if you, like me, usually like lighter cigars. It reminded me of old leather a bit, spicy for sure, definitely peppery, maybe chocolate or something else, either way I'll be enjoying the rest of the pack I got from a mix and match deal.
I was actually pretty impressed by this one, AJ also made that Last Call I posted about, and I have a New World connie I should probably get to, so he's starting to win me over ngl.

I was chilling at the cigar lounge yesterday evening and I smoked the AJ Fernandez New World Connecticut and the RoMa Craft CroMagnon Aquitaine. Both were very nice, we were just chilling and watching Judge Judy while chatting, I love going to the lounge from time to time.
I would recommend both sticks, the New World was super creamy and you kind of forgot you were smoking it, in a good way. The CroMagnon was rich and earthy, and pleasantly powerful. I would say that the New World is a real nice choice for a light smoke in particular. The Last Call is still my favorite of AJ's cigars so far, but he's winning me over more and more lately...

For some reason, I decided to pop into the more "fancy" cigar shop today while downtown and got sold on a Padron 1926 Maduro Corona. Not a cheap stick, but I never had a Padron and the old guy said it was worth it.
So, I smoked it on my evening walk and it was just amazing. Like, it just got better and better the more I smoked and focused on what I was tasting. It tasted like leather and wood and pepper and was just so delicious. Even my friend, who doesn't smoke at all, thought it smelled like a different class of tobacco. It burned perfectly, the construction of it was magnificent, and it was so smooth and strong that it was just a perfect experience smoking that thing.
If I had to give a recommendation for a 'special occasion' cigar, this is it bro. I understand the hype for these now, probably the best smoke I've ever had and I enjoy all types of sticks.

I got to smoking come connies I've been meaning to get to, and in particular the Sobremesa Brulee. It was so silky and sweet and creamy that it paired with my black coffee was a magnificent smoke. I immediately bought another one for home because I liked it so much. And when I say sweet, I don't mean like they dipped it in sugar or something, it's that tobacco sweet that you taste the entire time it's in your mouth.
It's almost like a dessert, it's clean and sweet and goes amazingly well with coffee.
I also tried a Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, and while it wasn't as sweet as the Brulee it was still nice and light, with some very interesting flavors that worked well together.
I would recommend both, but the Brulee is my choice because that sweetness is what I love. It's a cigar where you find yourself retrohaling very often because the flavor is mild yet has some complexity that you want to taste more of. The Romeo y Julieta Reserva is also a great smoke, but man if you a sweet tooth like me the Brulee has that in spades.

I got a sack of twenty Cuba Libre One Brutes on a deep discount because of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday stuff. And I'll be real, I expected a mediocre but alright batch of cigars to enjoy when I just want a smoke break. But these fucking impressed me, especially at the discount on the already medium prices. Like, I legitimately plan to get more to save in a humidor for later.
They are very well constructed, perfect burn and draw each time I've smoked one, and a relatively mild yet distinct flavor that develops more complexity as you smoke through the thirds. I say relatively mild, as the color is dark but it's not the heaviest dark cigar out there. The best comparison is that it's like smoking a cup of black coffee, it's not that shitty fake coffee flavor you sometimes get but like legit coffee bitterness and flavors from the tobacco. Besides coffee, as you go through the thirds there's a pleasant earthiness that just goes well with the pepper and everything else.
These really exceeded expectations.

So I'm not real a regular smoker but I'd like to keep some cigars around for special occasions with friends and family. What kind of humidor should I be looking for to keep just a small stock of cigars around for an occasional smoke?

most of my cigar-ish experience is black and mild fast breaks, a couple of times I've had a Good Cigar (tm) was nice enough, but tbh I'm much more gormand than gourmet about my tastes so most of my fun times with tobacco is shisha in a bong
