These motherfuckers right here with the sexy spiced fruit aroma. If you like fruitcake or apple pie then you'll nut uncontrollably with one of these.

I had a cigar tonight. I smoke about one a year, get a craving for it. I like the smell and taste of tobacco and I like the self-image of smoking pipes and cigars, which is something I think a lot of people won't admit, but I do think much of what attracts people to smoking is the way it looks. Which is also part of why I dislike cigarettes, pipes and cigars look like industrialists, generals, pioneers, and Fifties TV fathers to me, cigarettes look like the nasty crackers and disgusting foreigners I deal with in day to day life.

I got a really cheap offer in my mail, meant for someone else or the person that lived there before me, for a travel humidor and set of cigars for a really huge discount, so I bought that. I got something like eight with it.

Ooh didn't know Kiwifarms had a cigar thread.

I've been buying up Oliva sampler packs. Oliva V Melanio's are currently my favorite, along with Nub Maduro (which has a toasty chocolate/cocoa flavor). In general I favor Maduro wrappers for the sweetness over Habanos, but I'm still refining my palate. For cheap smokes I think Drew Estate Factory Smokes taste ok.

So I'm not real a regular smoker but I'd like to keep some cigars around for special occasions with friends and family. What kind of humidor should I be looking for to keep just a small stock of cigars around for an occasional smoke?
Google a "tupperdor" it's basically an airtight container with a 69% Bovida humidity pack and an optional cedar sheet. It will work fine until you decide to upgrade to something classier looking (or not, I haven't bothered to upgrade).

So I tried the Macanudo Inspirado Black Label which was suggested to me as a new smoker. Wrapper smelled fantastic. I wished some of the flavors were a little more pronounced but it was a very comforting and relaxing smoke. My palette also still needs work so I'll probably revisit this later.

What I really loved and can't stop thinking about though was the Romeo Y Julieta Regalia De Londres. Just an outrageous amount of flavor. It was like this spicy, anise/licorice mix that slowly became more savory and almost salty. I don't know what exactly to call it but once I get myself set up I'll be grabbing more.

Ok thread I've never smoked a cigar from either of these companies so I'm leaving it up to you. Brickhouse sampler or Rocky Patel sampler?

Red wine black and milds and a 20 bag mane nomesayin fr

I tried Romeo and Julietta cigars before, and their cigarillos too. Don’t know if they’re considered to be good. I like the taste of cigars but it’s rare for me to smoke one, just if the circumstances are right.

So I've sent out for a bunch of sampler packs as well as some multiples of ones I know I already like. I'm really excited to try this one called the 'Villiger Cuellar' which is apparently named after a Conquistador. Pretty badass sounding how could I not?

In the meantime I've been smoking mostly el cheapo shit to see if there is something I could buy a cheap bundle of to smoke on a whim to save my fancier shit.

El Cheapo roundup:

Guantanamera Decimos
- Probably the cheapest Cuban Cigars available and were recommended as a good starter smoke which I would generally agree with per my experience so far. Little in the way of complex flavors and not a huge nicotine kick. It's just a good smooth smoke that wont take an hour to get through.

Bravos Connecticut - I haven't smoked many Connecticuts so far but this one seemed pretty pleasing. Sweet with a little malty sourness at the end. Not really rolled well and smoked super fast.

Bravos Habano - I got this one in Gordo and perhaps because of this it seemed a little better rolled than the Connecticut which was a robusto. Despite being such a large cigar it smoked well and didn't make me sick with nicotine buzz like I was worried about. Probably worth it if you want something cheap that will smoke for a long time I think mine lasted just over an hour but I was nursing it.

Drew Estate Factory Smokes (Connecticut & Maduro) - These ones had a few good flavors but I wasn't a fan over all and both the Factory smokes became awfully bitter just after the halfway mark. I will say I enjoyed the Maduro more and the bitterness was less pronounced.

Non-shit

Macanudo Inspirado Bourbon - Pretty good flavor but like with most of the Macanudo's I've tried it leaves me wanting more. Altogether a nice sweet smoke with a solid nicotine kick towards the end.

Romeo Y Julieta No. 1 - Less pronounced flavor than the Regalia De Londres but still has a ton which goes through many interesting transitions. Serious Nic Kick don't be fooled by it's size it packs a punch. Rock solid wrapper, best I've seen yet this smoked like a dream.

I've received my first shipment and dug into it a bit and here's what I've been smoking.

Montecristo Shorts - Pretty nice for when I want a quick smoke not sure if these are just supposed to be an economical way to try the montecristo blend or what but really nice for what they are.

Drew Estate Muwat Kentucky Fire Cured - These smelled like a barnyard on fire but tasted quite nice and the grassy taste was mostly just a background thing.

Villiger Cuellar Black Forest - Really cool, started off pretty dark and spicy but it eased into a beautiful sweet cedary phase

AJ Fernandez Last Call - Nice and spicy but probably more flavor than I was ready for so I want to wait a bit before revisiting

Macanudo M coffee - Kind of a disappointment maybe I got a lemon but it was really chemically tasting. I understand flavored smokes just taste like fake but this tasted genuinely bad and very bitter

Ghurkha Ghost Shadow - Really like this, smoothly leathery with some spice but it gets a bit floral later on

Nub Cameroon - little bit of spice floating on smooth wheat type flavors. I don't know if I smoked fast or what but seemed pretty potent

Nub Connecticut - pretty good smooth Connecticut taste. Smoked this with a buddy while drinking so i didn't write down any notes but I didn't have any issues or bad tastes

H. Uppman Connssieur No. 2 - Warm and crisp. Just a really nice tobacco flavor though hard to justify the price.

Finally I just smoked a Stillwell Star Aromatic No. 1. The whole Star line incorporates pipe tobacco which is interesting. The flavor was much more complex while not being overwhelming than most of the cigars I've tried. I got a sampler pack which has a Bayou, English, Navy, Aromatic and a Holiday cigar. I gather that these are all types of pipe tobbacco. Im looking forward to smoking the holiday around christmas time cause it smells delish.

Big thanks to Love Machine for the recommendation on the Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan. Ment to save it for a special occasion but it was staring me in the face every time I opened the humi. Nice balanced flavors with an apprieciable but not overwhelming nicotine. Really starting to enjoy Candela wrappers

Just stumbled upon this thread and figured I would add my favorite finds.

CAO Mx2 - Won a box of these at my local shop. Was eager because I love Brazilian and Nicaraguan sticks and Maduros. Definitely wasn't disappointed. Spicy and peppery and paired really nice with both coffee and my usual little mini root beer. I'll be buying again when I go through this box.

Nub Maduro - Once again, love my Maduros. This one had a little nuttier taste but still that spiciness that I like. Currently my go-to morning weekend smoke with coffee. Just works perfectly for length of smoke that I enjoy in the mornings.

Drew Estate Muwat Kentucky Fire Cured - These smelled like a barnyard on fire but tasted quite nice and the grassy taste was mostly just a background thing.

Drew Estate MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured - I think these get a bad rep, but I admit they're sort of my guilty pleasure. We call them KFCs at the shop and they smell like a fucking barnyard like mentioned by Diamond Homunculus above, but damn I love them, especially for the price. Smoky. Don't keep them in your main humidor with any other sticks if you get them.

Honorable mention goes to Oliva 135th anniversary. They're limited to 1 per customer per visit at my shop, so I've been stocking up on them, but when I do light one up, they're always great. Also sitting on some My Fathers, The Judge. It's a creamier taste and puts out a lot of smoke, but a little more expensive than I'd like for regular, weekly puffs.

First of all I'm shaking my fist at you cause when I ordered my last batch I asked for MF The Judge but they were out. It sounds like you have similar taste to me I love maduros. KFCs are so fantastic with a smooth beer while you are grilling on a Saturday afternoon. Nothing beats it. There is another one in the Muwat line called "Bait Fish" that I want to try as well.

Here's what I have been smoking lately:

AJ Fernandez New World - My new favorite lives up to all the hype as far as I am concerned. Rich flavor without any bitter harshness.

Camacho Liberty Series '21 - Smooth, floral, refreshing smoked this on July 4th after the BBQ

Arturo Fuente Natural - These are made for evening coffee absolutely fantastic though they are a bit shorter than your average robusto. I feel like this is the perfect first cigar because it is so well balanced while still giving you some nice flavor. They all come wrapped in a cedar sheet so you can do that thing where you light the cigar with it which is also fun and a bit of showmanship for the new smoker.

Rocky Patel The Edge Corojo -
Not bad at all but was a little shorter on flavor than I would prefer.

Stillwell Star Sampler - The only one I didn't care for was the Navy. The Bayou and English were my favorites with the Bayou slightly eeking out the English due to some interesting flavors. I cracked and smoked the Holiday cigar which smelled like chocolate but tasted more like spice cookies. The aromatic which I mentioned earlier was also really good.

Partagas Serie D No.4 - Wasn't impressed with this. What flavor I did get wasn't all that pleasant.

Oliva Serie V - Everything about this was fantastic but it was not my cup of tea flavor wise so I will reserve my judgement. Smoked so well I forgot I was smoking.

Magno Inception Connecticut - Was hoping these would be good for a spur of the moment type thing but the flavor was terrible and harsh. Would honestly recommend some of the cheaper smokes I've had over this.

Punch After Dinner - Not a fan of this one despite being so highly rated. It's close to the size of a Lancero too so when I lit it and realized I didn't like it I knew I was in for a long haul left like a 3inch stub fuck that noise. Harsh and floral and will rape you with nicotine.

@Diamond Homonculus no idea why I can't use the reply function so I'll just tag you here.

Yeah, The Judge is a great cigar. I've usually been saving them for a long Sunday afternoon when it isn't blistering hot and I can relax and enjoy it. Also try the My Father Connecticut if you like Connecticut wrappers and if you want something really full-bodied check out the La Opulencia. My Father is great all around. I just wish I had more money to dump on them.

I've seen those Punch After Dinners. Haven't tried one but I may stay away. I will say I did enjoy the Punch Fu Manchu when I had a few given to me. Right now I'm hearing good things about Olmec Maduros, but the two shops I frequent haven't had any and they get sold-out almost immediately.

Today for a very momentous occasion I am smoking the "Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art" which is treating me very nicely along with some Cubano Son on the hifi. At half the price of something like the Filthy Hooligan and even less for a good Cuban its very good for a special occasion. Dense, dark yet sweet flavor without much spice or pepper if you dislike those flavor profiles. If you want to larp as a 19th century industrialist or Mark Twain, Hemingway for an afternoon this cigar should fit the bill.

Also I recently had the "Ghurka Royal Challenge" which really threw me for a loop cause I just read it had a Connecticut wrapper but didn't see it had Habano filler. It's a real nice mix of the two and the wrapper keeps the spiciness of the Habano at bay while providing more depth than just Connecticut alone. Wouldn't get a whole box but I will deffo get a handful on my next order.

I only smoke once or twice a month, but nothing that says Davidoff on it has ever let me down. Signature 2000 is definitely my favorite.

Expensive though.

EDIT: Can anybody recommend a good butane lighter for cigars? My current one is some Chinesium shit.
Late as hell, but check out vector. They still have a no receipt proof warranty the flames you decide on will kind of depend on the ring guage you smoke the most often. I personally like Diablo, but usually match light my cigars.

I do see others listing cigars they’ve enjoyed lately so I’ll do the same. I’m going to exclude my “secret club” cigars as well you can’t buy them.

My father 1922 Le Bijio not usually a torpedo fan, but this one is an exception for me The torpedo box press is a box buy for me . I do like the petite robusto as well, but I don’t find it as chocolate/peppery as it’s torpedo counter part. Still a great cigar esp when I don’t have the time to commit to the torpedo box press.

Also really love the My Father The Judge nice in the larger corona or toro personally. Nice bold full bodied cigar that I like to keep a box around. Again, getting via trades or sales is awesome just gotta look.

Ashton VSG I know they don’t like giving normal names to their sizes for the most part, but the robusto, basically the longsdale, and corona are great expressions of the VSG and also show how different the same blend can be in different sizes.

Ashton Symmetry is another very full flavored cigar I like to keep in rotation. Usually have a box of some size of it on hand. I really like the prism which is basically in between a corona and a robusto.

Davidoff Escurio - really like the petite robusto and honestly very reasonable price wise for being Davidoff. I don’t see why some people don’t like it as much, but I will admit it is a bit different just makes it fun.

I really like the Oliva Master blend 3s and will grab them whenever I see them on sale can usually get a box sub 100 sometimes with out a box for 80. Great cigar, but If you’re not a fan of box pressed cigars well you might dislike it.

Can’t believe I almost forgot the Oliva Melanio Maduro wonderful cigar that won’t break the bank seriously you can find them on sale for very reasonable prices around 5 bucks a cigar. petie corona and robusto are my most common buy from this cigar. The non maduro is wonderful too just like this one a bit more.

I don’t always go bold and will do the San cristobal Revelation. Find it to be a great medium bodied smoke with great flavor. Also love just the OG San cristobals for the full flavor

I have some opus x cigars, but honestly unless it’s a good deal (actual retail price or got in a trade) I won’t buy them they’re too over hyped IMO. Great smokes just not that damn good just one man’s opinion. Still fun to bust out for special occasions.

There’s many more in my collection , but that’s what I’ve been smoking most recently.

Despite my full flavor love I do mix in other cigars

Pedromo 10th Champagne - nice medium smoke although I go back and forth from toro/robusto on this one. I find it to be almost a pallet cleanser.

oh @Commander Shepard La Opulencia is a wonderful cigar and I’d like to 2nd that corona, petite robusto or toro are the sizes I enjoy in that the most. Had one yesterday actually need to look for a box on sale.

Then, the secret cigars I’m into these fuckers can’t list them well not in a meaningful way nor would it do any good. Some have really needed feedback while others are in my top 5 ever.

When I used to have money I would buy myself these leather rose cigars. The flavor tips aren’t too bad and the cigar itself is pretty good. I’ve been trying a bunch but I didn’t like most of them. Someday when I have money I will continue my search for others.

I normally have one a semester but this semester I’ve had more like three in as many weeks. It is the one thing that makes my mind very still/relaxed and alcohol is complete trash by comparison.

I was trying to start pipe smoking, but it’s a pain in the ass, hard as hell to light and keep lit, doesn’t even give the same feeling.
