Class of 09 - Its like if James Gunn and the rest of Troma was hired to make a video game based off Mean Girls back in 2009

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I bought the game as a part of a sale and refunded after 15 minutes of playing. Is it supposed to be funny? Or is it how Zoomers think the late 2000's were?
if you're from a trashy neighborhood it is sort of what it was like. did you not have kids raised by single parents at your school? Oh you didn't that makes sense.

That's my take. Or if not zoomers then just unpopular millennials who think they're remembering school life drama, but they're actually remembering TV. It's scary how many "memories" people have never actually happened to them.
I missed the 2000s, it was a simpler time IMO. If the boomers were right about anything they were right that smartphones ruined a lot

But I have noticed this push by a lot of Zoomers and millennials who did grow up in that era who weren't popular themselves, that the 2000s and early 90s were a backward time and if you have any memory of it, that's bad because no gay rights or whatever. Maybe in rural areas sure but in liberal city areas, it was much different.

I know this is a meme now but the saying "You'll never survive the old Xbox Cod lobbies back then" is a true saying because society wasn't that PC back then, but a lot of zoomers have a "Useable past" moment with the 2000s and pick and choose stuff from that era. Especially with how the culture has been for the past ten years, I do think they wouldn't like the 2000s if they lived it, at least the ones who heavily romanticize it. It reminds me of some tiktok channel that posted old scene girls from the 2000s and one video went viral it was 2 scene girls and they called one of them "Hitler" and laughed and didn't care while the comments were shocked "omg this isn't how I thought they would act like"

In the past year or so there has been tons of 2000s nostalgia content online (I can't lie I like it, pulls some memories for me) and I think Class of 09 and the creator being mentally stuck in that era have helped pushed the nostalgia to tons of people who both grew up and didn't grow up in that era

I thought the games were decent. If it was written by someone who wasn't a wigger and who doesn't see the MC as himself, it would've been decent because it did touch on interesting topics (loneliness, Abusive gay relationships, Mental Health, etc) but doesn't fully work out. I do think Macks did get the general aesthetic and vibe of the era correctly in his games. The characters can be funny but once you realize it's just an outlet of how the creator sees the world (and can be seen in his past works) the funniness drops. I do think it's funny how Flipside was basically made to say fuck you to a good chunk of the fanbase because the creator hated the lesbian teens who were attracted to the game after it went viral on TikTok, specifically the lesbian shippers. I think Jecka is hot tho.

Which is more than we usually see for anything set after the 1980s. And has been noted as such.

Like 90s nostalgia in pop culture has been incredibly non-existent compared to the 80s and the other decades of that century.

In general western entertainment doesn't really focus too much on modern nostalgia. The costs of making shit in the West means it's not seen as worth it to make a period piece and more honestly viewers aren't enough to justify it either.

Especially leftists the past decade aren't big fans of looking back on the past nostalgically. Mostly because of how different and "bigoted" the vibes were back then. Stranger things 1st season has a kid being called a faggot.

That's one of the big things china is kicking our ass on. Nostalgia for things from the past 25 years. Especially for younger audiences it seems like an obvious idea especially when trends come and go so quick. But for some reason the West fails at it.

Nostalgia for things from the past 25 years.
Stats show Gen Z and millennials are super nostalgic in general compared to other generations. I think the 90s and even 2000s stuff isn't fully capitalized on the nostalgic trend because it's still probably seen as too soon for most people.

Leftists online have pushed the idea of "being nostalgic is fascist" but in all honesty, I doubt normies care, especially with the beforehand mention of TikTok videos talking about toys or movies or music or life or whatever in the 2000s. Leftists want to control people in their words and thoughts, and the 90s and 2000s were marked with a culture of irrelevance, being edgy and not caring, they hate that and will push "that's racism" "that's fascist" but because those retards drove those words into the ground, and does nothing anymore.

If anything, I think Covid finally made people miss life in the past. That and Gen Z regardless of political ideology have realized life for their generation isn't worth it and nothing to look forward to (not all ofc but a good amount), and when they talk about are just called lazy. So returning to a time when you had some of the modern utilities but still being able to go outside with friends and stuff still sorta being affordable is something most people want

I get Macks liking that era, I can even sorta understand not fully coping with leaving that era. As mentioned he got the general vibe and aesthetic down, which was a good thing to do, not so much for the characters. You have to thank whatever ghostwriters he hired for any of the good bits of the game.

Troonslop
50% of the Class of 09 fandom are troons especially when the second VN came out and added yurifag-bait Ari. Add a 'uwu mentally ill edgy lesbian character' and that's how you attract troons like those Terro liquid ant bait.

And the other 50% are zoomie-zoom TikTok users (of which are mostly actually female iirc) who never even experienced any of the 2000s lol. They were quite literally still shitting in diapers when back in 08'.

And the supposed intended audience for the VNs are supposed to be people like Macks AKA Millennials/older Zoomers (who are basically crypto-Millenials anyways). But they're in the slim minority.

But they're in the slim minority.
A reminder that the game is his fantasy of the 2000s and how he wishes he was like Nicole (even tho if someone like Nicole existed IRL, she'd get just as bullied and ignored as Macks did), not even the period itself. He made Flipside to make the yuritards and tiktok girlies fuck off because he hated them.
