Been going through Flip side. its not bad but the foot fetish thing is the author fetish and he wants you to know it.

I always liked Jecka. She tries to act cool and mean but shes a scared little girl on the inside. Now i find out her dad is beating her and her teacher blackmailing her for sexual favours and i cant help but to feel sorry for her. giving me the "i can save her" complex over here. Nicole is like the devil on her shoulder that encourage her to act out and be the worst version of herself.

Jecka has it rough and the kind of girl that will end up in a abusive relationship unless she gets the help she needs quick which is what seems to happen in the ending that Nicole kills herself. the Jeffry ending was dark as well seeing Nichole display just how cold and uncaring she is against others. The mail from Jeffrys mom actually made me sad.

There is a good "game" in there! The problem was just the obvious foot-fetishism taken to the extreme and the fanbase over reaction (not that i blame them for it. its justified but its sad many will just write the game off beacuse of that). seeing a teenage go through abuse by her parents and teachers is something alot of kids can relate too and i hope the next game (if there ever will be one) has jecka making it out ok

The thing is, Jeffery's Foot fetish was established in the first game, so it is within his character to want to pay for it.

Another case of SBN3 being half-baked is Jecka's dad is the spear version of Nicole's mom and thus, have similar dynamics. While she's abusive in a feminine, narcissistic way, he uses brute force, but they're still exerting the same kind of pressure on the protagonists. I would have preferred Jecka's mom to still be around, but also exerting passive-aggressive pressure too like a carrot to his stick. "What your father is trying to say is that you are the best and should get into the best schools. We certainly expect you to maintain your virtue too. Why, for anything other than that to happen would be unthinkable!" I guess SBN3 didn't want to draw a fat, ugly woman, I guess.

The final message from SBN3 makes me feel as though he got upset that his dumb edgy visual novel somehow managed to garner enough attention to form a fandom and all the insufferable faggotry that comes with them. So he decided to make a third entry in order to separate the wheat from the chaff and find out who likes his work for what it is, and who likes his work for what others make of it. Splitting the fans almost literally in half.

As an outsider to the series who only saw a friend read through the first two, the entire thing always reeked of pure spite and contempt for the audience at hand. I never understood how a disingenuous ironic VN like this managed to garner an audience like it did (or really any at all outside of people reading it and finding it kind of funny) other than the fact that it had a couple of jokes that weren't complete shit. For fuck's sake it marketed itself as THE ANTI VISUAL NOVEL despite a good amount of VNs not being shitty dating sims.

I ESPECIALLY don't get the people online who got completely anal about this game for having edgy jokes. It's like South Park fans getting mad that Cartman made a black joke at Token.

I never thought he was "lazy". A lazy person wouldn't make a third game knowing that they'd get plenty of hate for it, they just wouldn't bother in the first place. This was my impression, too.

I think he was sick of the fanbase trying to redeem these characters, and pair them up, so he made this. I do think he went overboard, but after seeing just how many people sympathized with Jeffery despite him being sexpest, and people continuing to ship Nicole, and Jecka even though the series has already shown the former to be a domestic abuser (among other things), I can see why he did it.

I do think the Developer was sexually harassing Nicole's VA though. That sexy voice is a little too on point and not ironic.

They're voice actors, they'd dub over fart porn if they were paid well enough. Sounds like they were with that foot gangbang with Jeffrey and Nicole with Jecka's dad, which is the biggest wtf moment in the whole game.

Yes.

The Flipside is too gooner-bait for me. It's obvious this guy wrote some of these lines with a raging hard-on.

The plotline where Jecka gets a job at the CD store was good until the last 5 minutes where it was just too off the rails for me to believe this was happening in the same universe as everything around it.

The alcoholism plotline was pretty good but it felt rushed, it just ends without fanfare and has a the game's only fake choice in a project that has maybe 4 choices total.

The plotline that ties back to Nicole's suicide route in the first game is the only story that feels complete to me and it's maybe half an hour long.

$15 is just too much for that little content.

I wanted an entry that focuses on the boys just for more of my favorite character.

Honestly it feels like the route that actually ties into the game was the INITIAL start of the game, something happened, and then we have this clusterfuck faggotry.

"Played" (watched) most of these games. I tried to look past that really annoying vocal fry shit the girls have (teenagers back then didn't talk that way, I know for a fucking fact.) The writing isn't awful. The acting sells what the sprites can't. At times, the interactions and progressions feel realistic and even good. They just needed more help from the art direction. More emotion in the expressions, more body language. Look at this video down here and tell me it's not how teenagers act.

But like others said, the entire series reeks of spite.

There are a few choice paragraphs about representation and "displaying a reality the uncomfortable can't comprehend." You mean the reality everyone saw? Even if you've never seen True Life or anything portraying "reality," even if you're not living that reality, there's at least one person you know going through it. Unless you're a boomer or completely sheltered, you're bound to see it.
People keep mentioning South Park, which doesn't help. There's a cynical, '90's contrarian, lecturing, holier-than-thou aspect that the writing shares with South Park's. Maybe it's because I grew up constantly learning about "the issues" and how everything sucks and how everyone's a piece of shit- but it rings hollow. The tragedy of it all has just worn off. The shock value isn't there anymore. I'm tired of it. It's not that I've heard every song there is, but I've heard this one before. A lot.
Basically the creator has his head really far up his ass. And his fetish sucks.

They fall in love with the idea of the game, the idea of the characters, the idea of the plot, but they don't actually like the characters, the plot, or the game itself. You can see this in every big fanbase on twitter or reddit, people like it because of what they think the media is about, and when that media then destroys their idea of what it should be, they get mad and say the creator was wrong.

Honestly after looking at the subreddit seems like a lot of the fanbase (at least the vocal part) is troons who liked playing as hot girls. I can see why the creator made that game to chase them all off tbh.

Flipside hasn't gone over well, and I got to thinking. "What could make the fanbase more upset?", and I had a pretty funny idea, just turn Class of 09 into a dating sim. Suddenly now the player is a straight teenage male who lives alone (very conveniently), and the entire game is a hard 180 from the whole "Not a dating sim, but a Rejection sim" thing, basically do what /v/ did and make a snoot game for Class of 09.

ngl I really think the creator didn't need to turn this game into a series or franchise. Everything was perfectly fine as just a self-contained one off VN. It's obvious he's one of those creators who hates his own fanbase because they interpreted it a different way (based ngl). But literally that only started when he made the second game (fucking yurifags) and then decided to milk it. Sorry, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Even then the well is already poisoned. Anything related to yuri/lesbians in current media is just 100% troon bait at this point unless you're an actual natal lesbian who sets their game on steam to be 41% off.
