With Elon Musk uprooting Twitter, a fair share of snowflakes are blowing hither and fro to other social networking sites like mastodon, poa.st, and now cohost. Although it's essentially a newborn compared to other snowflake-infested sites, troons and other undesirables are slowly settling down on this fertile ground. At the time of writing this new users can register without hassle on the site, but cannot make comments or "chosts"—the site's term for "cohost posts"—until they're sent another email from the staff letting them know they can do so.
How's It Different From Twitter?
cohost does not appear to impose a character limit on posts, so no longer will readers need to scan through posts and their replies; however, an edit button exists ( Archive ), so make sure to archive ASAP. Rudimentary HTML and CSS are also allowed in posts, so anticipate a blast to badly-designed 90s websites with clashing colours and other wacky techniques like this ( Archive ).

It seems that there are some built-in features or scripts that allow for reader interaction. The
#interactable
hashtag ( Link constantly updating ) has a few posts if anyone wants to try them out.The site also hides metrics like follower and like counts, so the attention-starved will find it harder to get their regular hit of dopamine there unless they get engagement through comments. Some of the differences are a little strange: DMs don't exist, and tagging people doesn't notify them.

- carrot ( Archive ) : a themby who codes and identifies as a rabbit

- "it doesn't feel safe to be here if you draw anything other than 'socially acceptable' nsfw art, and what that even IS varies from person to person. feral? some people think that makes you a zoophile. pokemon? same. age gap adult relationships? pedophilia. noncon? you're literally a real actual rapist. incest? you must want to fuck your own mother. etc." ( Permalink )
- Staff response: "our goals with the incoming rules are: [...] respect users’ wishes around sexual depictions of fictional minors. while a lot of the discussion in our original posts was hostile and in bad faith, we saw that the good faith consensus was that cohost should not allow this sort of content. we opened it to community discussion because we do not want to make these sorts of major decisions unilaterally, and we intend to respect that process. side note: we know that 'sexual depictions of fictional minors' sounds like a weirdly specific term, but each adjective is essential to avoid any ambiguity. 'depictions of fictional minors' are, obviously, fine; 'sexual depictions of fictional adults' are fine; 'sexual depictions of real minors' are illegal, have been and always will always be banned from cohost, and are one of the only areas where we will talk to the cops." - "[...] the idea that underage users can make 18+ posts is very..... strange. It doesn't make sense at all." ( Permalink )
- Staff response: "it's peculiar, but the other options are worse! either we create another justification for young artists who want to make an occasional 18+ post to lie about their age, or we run the risk of there being 18+ posts that literally can't be tagged and banning kids for failing to tag their posts."
