Speaking of comics, I got around to looking back on some Golden Age comics I never read before. Holy shit it's weird to get four okay to pretty good stories worth out of those for just a dime. It and the silver/bronze age reminds me why I never got into comics beyond the Collection Series where for 20 bucks I got 20 - 25 issues and my dad's own collection; I could for a cheap price get a full story (or multiples in my Essentials case).

By the Iron/Dark Age, you had to buy multiple different issues for what I call too much money to get that same satisfaction. And now at Marvel, you pay four bucks for a whole lotta nothing. Seriously, thanks to D&C Comics, I can learn that nothing fucking happens in their stories due to the sheltered negahumans writing and arting there not understanding story craft and conflict.

Literally why the fuck would I want to pay that much for so little?

Here, finally found some of the posts regarding Cain blocking rape victims and saying dumb shit (unarchive version of second link here since it looks like a train wreck) to justify the retcon.

You got it all wrong. That's Biclops aka Mike Summers, the fabled 4th Summers brother. His x-gene mutation allows him to become more powerful from beating women and has a secondary mutation of being able to sense the location every non-straight white cis male. Totally original character.

Only one I know of is Image Comics (how ironic) and even they are starting to spiral a bit. Stick to Todd McFarlane products & the Walking Dead if you want the safe bet.

Nope, Image, like most of the other lower level comic companies, is also an SJW shitshow possessed by the hivemind too. At best you have Alterna and specific brands from each of the other guys. Dunno about Dark Horse's status in this but it's probably going down into the toilet too.

Any good examples? The only example of that I know of for SJWism is Infidel and possibly Savage Dragon.
 
Eh, I think it's a little inaccurate to measure the "indies" like Image and such with the same SJW litmus as those companies are more creator-driven with people needing to pitch a title to the publishers rather than editorially mandated diversity hires/characters, so it's more of a mixed bag where on one side you got cringe-worthy material like your Wicked+Divines, Sex Criminals and Bitch Planets, but then you also have series like your Hack/Slash's, Head Loppers, current Prophets, Luther Strodes, and I Hate Fairylands. A lot of the navigating Image is just knowing which writers/artists you like and which ones don't stuff their comics with political bullshit and going from there.

As for the rest, Dark Horse these days is mostly adaptations and you can kinda tell that they're struggling to fill the massive Hellboy-shaped hole that's been left since the series ended, and I heard Vertigo is doing some interesting stuff lately.

The only thing I see apart from Infidel that screams SJW is that Moonstruck comic. Every other comic is either eldritch horror or insanity like Ice Cream Man. They've contracted an infection but it looks like their immune system is stronger than Marvel's at least. Word on the street is Kickass got an SJW makeover but I've yet to look it over to confirm.

I may be confusing Image with IDW. I always forget which one is utterly possessed by parasites and which one is where failed film school graduates shit out their scripts into comic form. They kind of blur for me.

Funnily enough, Image Comics is a lot like Shonen in a way where it's not a group of people making comics together but more of a "user generated" atmosphere.

IDW is the trashcan, Image puts out some pretty good stuff if you're into horror. As for Dark Horse, so long as they keep cutting Mignola a check and he keeps writing weird shit, I'm happy.

Everything about this image just screams "middle-aged woman having a mid-life crisis and desperately trying to break into a 'hip' industry in an effrot to stay relevant." It's so pathetically tryhard.

Though if Cain intends to write a series for indie she's probably going to find herself SOL since last I checked Image doesn't really promote/advertise for new series the way the Big 2 do, which might be especially hilarious since Cain in the past has proven herself the type of person who wants instant praise and throws a huge fit when she doesn't get it.

Let me put it this way: you know those self-proclaimed "male feminists" who swear up and down about the injustice other male writers inflict on female characters, but seem to have a weird fixation on rape and insert it into their works more than anyone (Joss Whedon, Linkara, etc.) to the point that turns into a 'doth protest too much' sort of scenario?

Cain's writing, and One Kick in particular, seems to have a lot of that.
