I believe EVS is aiming for the #1 crowdfunded project. Doug and SGM are people who can de-throne him.
I also think he is cleaning house to attract more reputable artists into the fold.
Yes, but just for fun. Doug should definitely beat CYBERFROG 2 with EWJ #2, because he's clever and learns. I'll have a new goal to beat with the third CYBERFROG when he does.
SGM's attitude reminds me of myself in 2017, trying to fence-sit with the most horrible SJWs imaginable. It's frustrating to me, because the outcome is going to be the same no matter what he says or does.
I also thought his approach to his campaign, his campaign itself, and the results so far are disappointing. The mainstream promotion he received also struck me as a message to ComicsGate that "we've still got our claws in this guy."
As for attracting more "reputable artists into the fold", for what reason? How would that benefit me? The comic book industry is in shambles. Who cares who comes over here or who doesn't? I usually discourage other pros.
Recently I kind of decided I would no longer do that, and maybe help a few if they wanted. But my goal is not and never was to add more mainstream pros to ComicsGate. My goal is to survive the death of the mainstream and get myself wealthy with Frog books. To the extent that they can make my YouTube show more fun, like Dan Fraga does, I'm interested.
My impression is that he plans to milk as many people as he can for 3-4 CyberFrog books before going to Holywood, Video Game makers, cartoons or mass market reprints. once TDS dies down and he is uncancelled. Crowdfunding money is change compared to the above.
I would also argue that he does not delay CF because he is lazy, but because he wants to get the most out of each campaign. He could easily pencil 48 pages in 3-6 months and have somebody (Kyle?) ink them on the down low and have 2-3 campaigns in a year. That could be double or triple the money, but he won't be able to be #1 for the clout.
@FROG is not doing it for crowdfunding money or, if he does, he is a dumb fuck.
Yes, I do want to make as much money as I can doing CYBERFROG comics. I just outlined the fifth story, so there will be more than just four.
No, I am not "going to Hollywood" or anywhere. I'm staying right here, telling Frog stories. I don't expect any mainstream outlets to come to me at all. I believe that my reputation has been thoroughly poisoned, and anything that I want to do with CYBERFROG, I'll have to do myself. The good news is that a small but enthusiastic base is all anyone needs to become independently wealthy when they produce work like this themselves, and the internet is limitless.
So I'll make my own toys. I'll make animated short features. I'll commission an indie video game.
CYBERFROG will either grow because of word of mouth or it won't, but I've already made more money than I would have if I'd finished out a career at DC Comics. Things are good!
Doug T. was his ticket. And he blew that chance away himself.
Ha ha ha.
What records did it (or he) break, exactly?
I know he's done very well for himself, but I somehow thought there've been bigger crowd funded comics, both before and after Cyberfrog. Is Cyberfrog the biggest of all time?
There's one other project from 2011 or 2012, a Kickstarter, called THE ORDER OF THE STICK. It was a big hit from the early days of crowdfunding. It raised $1,254,120.
That's the only one I know of that's beaten CYBERFROG: BLOODHONEY, which quit at $1,066,000.
REKT PLANET could possibly do it, but it's a big reach.
