So for my final post on this account before i delete it from my password manager, I wanted to say thank you to kiwifarms. For helping me move past my internalized transphobia.
To the detriment of the Germans who have to get up on Monday morning to go to work, the general election has been a total nail-biter up until late at night, because of the 5% threshold. Also, the highest voter turnout since the Reunification.
Essentially, if a party fails to get a 5% share of the total vote or win at least 3 electoral districts outright, they don't make it into the parliament.
So, for instance, imagine you have a party that gets 20% of the total vote, and 10% of the total vote go to "Others" who didn't make it. That means that the 20% is effectively 20/0.9 == 22.2% in distributing seats in the parliament. Therefore, parties passing or not passing that threshold can make a big impact on coalition building. Unfortunately, the BSW has been hovering around 5% all night long, ultimately ending up at 4.972% around 1:30 AM local time.
Like, right now, CDU/CSU+SPD are at 52% in terms of seats in parliament, meaning that if those two parties vote on something, it has an absolute majority.
However, had the BSW been in the parliament, CDU/CSU+SPD would only have had 49% of seats, so they cannot get a majority on anything if the rest of the parliament opposes it.
CDU are unhappy because they expected a 3 in the tens digit.
SPD have their worst historical result ever.
Greens have been slapped in the face so hard that a former chairman of the party publicly lambasted frontrunner Robert Habeck for acting as if the result is okay, and that just 10% of young voters voting Green is a complete disaster.
FDP are out of the parliaments, the chairman has resigned from politics.
Left have become the most popular party among the youth, truly a sign of the end times.
BSW are out of the parliament - Wagenknecht was wise when she warned against jumping the gun when the first projections came in.
And the AfD have doubled in size since last time, with polls showing that they have lost almost no voters (as in, the share of people who voted AfD prior but now voted something else is fucking tiny). They are also by far the most popular party for former non-voters - with ~56% of non-voters choosing to vote AfD this time - expect mainstream media to not mention this fact at all. Expect "go vote" to be a less common call to action from now on.
So what does that mean?
It is predictable that the vote will be contested, there might be a recount, or even a regional revote. With BSW having 4.972% of the vote, and lots of report of fraud in polling places, it would not surprise me.
It is also predictable that AfD will continue being in the parliamentary opposition as opposed to in the government, because in spite of CDU+AfD being the most obvious working coalition and clearly the will of the voters, who gives a fuck about the voters lmao. However, with how big the AfD is in parliament now, the mood will change drastically, as will federal funding and privileges.
It is also predictable that the government will continue to be dogshit, creating new AfD sympathizers every single day, faster than mudslimes of peace can stab them.
^ Keep in mind 316 seats are an absolute majority.

The FTC has opened a Request For Information (RFI) and is seeking comments from members of the general public and industry on "how consumers may have been harmed by technology platforms that limited their ability to share ideas or affiliations freely and openly"
This is of particular interest to Kiwifarms, considering the platform level censorship Kiwifarms has been subject too by Liz Fong Jones and their cabal of tech trannies.
