A minor happening in the Emulation and Retro Gaming community:

Say hello to iiSU, an extremely ambitious emulation frontend that takes inspiration from the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. For the unfamiliar, an emulation frontend is essentially a game launcher that organizes your definitely legally acquired retro game library and lets you browse it like a game console menu. iiSU was briefly teased two months ago and had it's full reveal video a few days ago on November 25th. As you can see in the screenshots below, the slick design of the frontend attracted a good amount of attention. They also planned to integrate RetroAchivements and a whole social aspect as well. There was some criticism about it the scope of the project being too big, the timeline too ambitious, and that it gave off concept art vibes but many people seemed cautiously optimistic.
Enter Discord, everyone's favorite chat platform. As many creators of software projects tend to do these days, they decided to open a Discord server for information and updates. Why none of these eggheads forums for their projects, an objectively better medium for disseminating information to a community as the whole thing isn't locked behind an account, is beyond me. For some reason, the lead dev, UsagiShade, repurposed an old private Discord server and turned it into the public facing iiSU Discord server. Needless to say, Bluesky and X trannies didn't take too kindly to some of the old messages that UsagiShade and his buddies were sharing and he is now CANCELLED. There's more screenshots in the thread.

Shortly after all of this information came to light, UsagiShade decided to quit the project entirely instead of dealing with these people. He privated all of his social media, including his Youtube account that hosted the teaser trailer and full reveal. The rest of the people behind iiSU seem to be continuing on without him but losing your lead developer less than 4 days after the full reveal isn't exactly a good omen.

Is iiSU now doomed or was it vaporware from the start? Why did UsagiShade repurpose an old Discord server instead of making a new one? Do Bluesky and X trannies deserve rights or do you not hate them enough? Discuss all of this and more in the Retro Games and Emulation thread.
