Cooking with Kat (and DSP) thread

Not sure if Mrs. D$P has changed this step as well, but the Family recipe used to start with rendering salt pork. In this video, he turns up the heat because he doesn't think the stove is heating fast enough. I can see him doing this often and it resulting in him having a kitchen full of smoke from burnt pork and rendered lard having reached it's 'smoke point'.

D$P apparently eats chicken everyday. During a stream, he recounted the week's meals: crockpot chicken cacciatore, crockpot chicken tacos, breaded chicken patties ( a dinner he served ), Shake-n-bake chicken, chicken stir-fry ( a dinner he served) and chicken enchilada casserole. The stir-fry being the only meal to contain any vegetables other than bell peppers and onions. The only meal that deviates from chicken is a Tuna casserole every other week . He's eating soooo much better now. Panda was ruining his health with all those salads, vegetable side dishes and meatless meals. What was she thinking?

All I'm hearing is Pig has been reduced to eating literal tendies at this point, thus furthering why I love calling him an autistic manchild larping as a big-boy with a big-boy business.

Rewind the tape to last week:

"Kat has the next whole week off. That means a whole week of delicious home cooked meals! Kat told me she is excited and has a whole list of new recipes she wants to try out!"

it looks like he has heat on way too high. I thought it was simmering? why is there so much smoke?

You can see there's a clear line of where the sauce has reduced from being on too much heat. Six hours of boiling (and that amount of steam means it is boiling, not simmering) tomato sauce with no cover will make it shrink a whole lot, probably Phil's idea of reduced sauce = more flavor but likely Phil has no concept of flavor so it'll likely be salty tomato porridge with a thick crust of burnt tomato, sugar and whatever else he put in on the bottom of the pot. The fact he stirs it makes me think he scraps the bottom as if its browned whereas it's more than likely charred sauce that will give it an acrid / sour taste.

source: I've burned a lot of sauce in my time

This is just me guessing, but maybe this is why Phil insists he's super healthy now? He's terrible with fine details so if he heard/Katherine told him that chicken is much healthier than pork or beef he would have just stopped listening there, fat/sodium/preservatives/portion size be damned.

Panda was ruining his health with all those salads, vegetable side dishes and meatless meals. What was she thinking?

I have a theory here that ties into his new all chicken diet-all his meals are meat + starch + starch because :autism:, so when Leanna made salads or whatever he didn't see a plate with a vegetarian main dish instead of meat, he saw a plate missing the meat he "needed" and a bunch of "extra" veggies he never wanted.

Phil doesn't care about Leanna's hard work or Katherine's lack thereof, he just sees tasty and familiar food from Katherine (and his ego means he probably believes that because he likes it and he's totes healthy, then the food must also be healthy) for no added effort on his part.

Thing is, there's nothing wrong with planning meals around bulk packages of meat to save money, but man, he has no idea what good meals are. Dumping stuff into a dish and baking it off is fine, but if that's the extent of your "cooking", you're in the shallow end of the culinary pool.

He must have been a really picky eater when he was little and never grew out of it.

Phil probably grew up eating shitty fast food and now just keeps eating like a teenager who's parents are out for the night. Frozen meals or just eating out at restaurants because he likely can't make a half-decent meal or just doesn't want to so instead falls back on his preferred processed high-salt crap. I'm surprised he hasn't developed scurvy along with his gout from the shitty diet.

Strong disagree on "grew up eating fast food", agree on the rest: He was fairly skinny in the early 2000s (there's a photo of him where he looks like a wannabe Columbine killer) and gained about 100 pounds by the time he did a face reveal on YT in 2010 or so. My guess is that his parents made him eat fairly healthy, but he hated every second and (like you said) fell back on super unhealthy food when they weren't around to keep him in line.

We also know he resents his mother for all kinds of weird, loosely connected Freudian reasons that add up to "didn't spoil me rotten", maybe she was the one who tried to have him eat healthy and he resents her for it? We certainly know he's thrown Leanna under the bus for trying to make him actually healthy meals.

I think before he moved in to his own place, he had Momma make him dinner all the time. When he started getting a bust with youtube it turns out he mostly ate fast food from then on, or just ate really poorly with whatever garbage he can cook(not much)with huge portions. Then there's most likely all the alcohol and sugar he poured into himself also can make you balloon very fast.

It's hilarious how he tries to not look like he was spoiled, when from all the collective shit he has said that we have all gone over, he absolutely was. Practically every toy you can list like: Nintendo 64 and the Wolverine toy. Just his attitude when he first initially explained the Wolverine story says it all. The way he constantly nags his viewers for money and how he doesn't get day 0 games like other nudnick hack shams, also shows a very small tell on how he whines and pouts for whatever he wants until he gets it.

And he calls others entitled.

Mama Burnell most likely served regular "Oh look, mom made dinner again," kinda meals, but he was served regular portions. Not necessarily healthy eating, because if she made a big ol pot of pierogis (which are fucking delicious) and kielbasa, that is anything but healthy. They probably kept him from overeating, and with him being a super-buff weightlifter (coupled with the metabolism of a regular teen that does regular teen shit), he found himself relatively trim.

Once he was out on his own, all those fast food joints that they didn't have every day because his stupid fucking mom wanted to provide a hot meal when he just wanted a triple cheeseburger and all the fries were the only place he'd eat.

He mentioned on some stream that he sucks a cooking. Since he couldn't make anything more than a sandwich (which I'd seriously doubt his ability to put two slices of bread together, anyway), DSP tries it was born out of his love and addiction to McBurger in the Bell.

D$P Tries it came about for the same reason as all his Vlog series: he could monetise them. D$P is careful to say that he never made a dime off of his "Gaming videos" in the early years and this is true as YouTube would not monetise gameplay videos. Thus he made vlogs. He has even stated that he started all his series like D$P Tries it and Cooking with the King because he could monetise the videos on his vlogging channel. It was for the love of easy money, not food. He also sought to game the system by listing his gameplay videos as Comedy...a category that YouTube monetised.

I never noticed that. That’s some next level slimy wording from dsp, well I guess regular dsp wording. So sleezy

Mrs. D$P is warming up a frozen lasagna for dinner. It's "a really good frozen lasagna that taste like an authentic Italian lasagna not like Stouffers. They make it with real Italian tomatoes"... "Michael Angelo's frozen Lasagna":
Oddly enough, the ingredients do not list 'real Italian tomatoes'.

The guy's having a generic freezer meal but building it up like it's Gordon Ramsay approved just because he's eating it.

Gotta love Pig's desperate desire and compulsion to try and show off how he's amazing by using props... even as he does this with shitty TV dinners that he just scarfs down like he does all his tendies.
