Ever since I installed the single player mod for Tarkov I've noticed that it feels much less stressful. Sure it's a different experience but I never have to fear getting head-eyes'd from a grenade launcher by a player with a Chinese name in Labs. I really hate how most FPSes these days are geared towards maxing out the main online experience to the detriment to everything else, especially if that experience sucks in the first place. But seriously, I have 6.6k hours in Tarkov, and eventually you just can’t not notice how fucking awful the netcode is in EFT. Gunfights are pure RNG based on whose bullets decide to register as 3 hits instead of 1, or who the game will decide is actually dead 3 seconds after you’re both in cover. In terms of a PVP experience, it just ain’t it. And don’t get me started on cheaters, at least the cheaters in CS aren’t getting a slick Altyn outta me.
Valve has been really bad with this kind of thing too. There's been a few community maps I've liked over the years, only to be in for a couple of months then never seen again. Same with the limited time missions, I remember the Operation Wildfire missions being super fun but Valve never focused on content like that, and it never came back to be played even without the mission rewards. Even more recently was the terms of service change where they banned community servers that used plugins that let you fake which skins you had. Like fuck, I'm not even allowed to enjoy myself in my own private spaces. It has to be controlled by someone who wants to squeeze as much money out of me as they can
