I don't get how people couldn't have doubts though, we've had pandemics before. Granted, the last significant one I know of was like 100 years before COVID but it could happen, right? Or I'm just naive, I guess.
A lot of the shock on discovering just how stupid so many people were happened when Trump Derangement Syndrome rolled around way back in '15. When I started seeing people I knew since middle school getting all worked up about Trump, after never
ever hearing them say a single damn thing about politics, I knew shit was getting weird. When I told them to relax and quit worrying so much about something completely out of their control, and they fuckin' make it clear they want nothing to do with me ever again, I'm not gonna lie, that was depressing as hell.
Like, they were the same dudes who'd be all "yeah yeah fuck CNN, all saying video games like Doom cause school shootings! they're a bunch of liars!" before that, and then like, a switch just flipped and they went fuckin' berzerk. I'm sure them same bitch niggas were all getting worked up over COVID and wearing their mask and taking all their vaccines and panicking and shitting themselves and suckin' on dildos shaped like Fauci's phallus.
Man, these guys were good friends of mine, and then just out of the fuckin' blue, they turn into the kind of people who, like, if their wife cheated on them, they'd react like this:
I'll at least give the people afraid of COVID the benefit of the doubt, the concept of a massive worldwide plague that could potentially cause an extinction event is very scary, and a hell of a lot more believable than thinking Le Orange Man is LITERALLY HITLER and we're just kind of electing Literally Hitler now, out of the blue. But by that point, I had seen so much exaggeration and blatant falsehoods about Trump that I didn't believe a single damn thing about COVID, coming from any kind of "official source".
And you know what's the worst part? We're gonna be dealing with this shit for the rest of our lives. I checked A&N just now, I see a thread about some new strain, and I see a post like this:
Lmao, they will never catch this lightning in a bottle again but damned if they aren't trying. No one is falling for this, people would rather just let the virus take its course than cause a repeat of 2020. Even their most staunch cultists are yawning at this, it's fucking over, find some other way to control the population.
and it's like, man, you and I won't believe it, a lot of skeptics won't believe it, but what good does that do when we all know every company on the planet's gonna follow suit because all the world's governments will force them to? And there'll be no shortage of random idiots out there, living amongst us, who'll shit & piss & fart & cry & panic as if they've never seen this exact scenario play out before. Fuck, man, I know there's no shortage of Kiwis who took the vax against their will because it was either that, or lose their jobs, which'd lead them to lose their homes and let their families starve.
