The problem is a lot of the people I saw were so hardcore about it, they swore up and down they weren't going to buy it and saying shit like it was a slap in the face. And then day one, they do a complete 180 showing they were just bitching to bitch like always. And now they love the game so much they're losing their shit over one dude being like "this shit soulless"

I don't know. It's just another reminder to me how fucking gay and embarrassing hardcore gamers have become, or maybe always were and I'm starting to finally notice it.

It depends how charitable you want to be.

On the one hand, we have the people just like you describe. Shitting on the game pre-release and then buying it full price on release day. These are the ResetEra consoomer types.

On the other, you have people who were waiting for reviews and the reviews were generally positive. People do seem to like the game.

Then there's people like me, fence sitters who, for one reason or another, are waiting for the honeymoon period to end. We got shit on by both sides, and yet we seem to be winning.


The last decade of media has been shit. Woke trash as far as the eye can see, so even something mediocre is held up as a masterpiece. Too many people get caught in the hype whenever a AAA game isn't wokeshit. As a fence sitter, I'm seeing the needle swing back and forth, but seems to be settling somewhere around 7-8 out of 10. B+. Good-great, but not a classic like the original.

The RE thread was full of endless bitching and whining about how awful the remake was in every way and how it ruined the original and was utterly soulless... Then every single one of those fags ran through every difficulty, one hundred percented the game, got S+ rank on the hardest mode. But it's still 'soulless'

I don't even understand the point of the video. A remake typically is rebuilding the original from scratch with modern technology. He should had waited until they added those microtransactions. And, I'll stress this point given the modern gaming industry, you could still purchase the original on modern hardware if you're inclined.

I can't believe I even have to say the last part given R*'s handling of legacy titles. But that's another story.

I think the backlash stems from how pointless the bitching is when RE4 is still readily available for dirt cheap on everything stronger than a Nokia flip phone, and even then you could maybe get that ancient mobile port up and running.

It may not outshine the original in some respects, but it doesn't really feel like it's trying to. The remake also has lots of nice details of it's own. I shat my pants when I kicked a Ganado into that little fountain in the village and it broke apart.
 
Honestly, RE4 didn't really need a remake. The original game has held up very well, despite what Feminists and troons will tell you how you should feel about an almost 20 year old game. I still have the original game, and don't really intend to get the remake. The shit they changed, the shit they've removed (or added) just isn't worth it for me. If you want to buy it and play it, go ahead. I mean, I'm still going to call you a retarded consoomer for purchasing the latest "shiny thing", but it's your money to waste. Me being mad about people playing a game I personally have no intent to shouldn't make that much difference in the world. In fact, I'm not really all that mad. Like I said, I'm just going to point and laugh at how gullible you are.

crowbcat made the video in a way that seemed slightly positive over fucking VR while he still has videos about showing how vr is niche as fuck and won't be able to stand itself as a dedicated platform, which is kind of true, vr should be treated as joysticks in flight sims or driving wheels in driving games, extra accessory to help immersion, not mandatory for the game to work.

It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to work with non-union people, because something as simple as "hey, we changed up this section a little so we need you to re-record about five minutes of lines, we'll obviously compensate you" now has to go through the union, who's going to want a giant cut for allowing their member to do an hour's worth of work.

As to why capcom decided to use someone from the godawful movies rather than an actual VA, I really don't know.

I can honestly say that the remake looks like an inspired interpretation and not a one-to-one direct remake. But what's poignant about crowbcat's video is that it illustrates how the current spirit of the times has censored and curtailed games across the board.
