CRPGs/WRPGs - Computer/Western Role-Playing Games - No Squares or Atluses allowed

I do agree that there is a quality game hidden underneath all it's flaws and redditization, but then again I could say the same thing about Avowed. Unfortunately, unlike Avowed, I doubt you can get past Deadfire by skipping every single conversation
Fair enough.
If you tried it and didn't like it, then there's nothing more to be said on the subject.

i remember beating the PoE
but i can hardly remember anything about it
i do recall that castle was build on top of the giant statue (which is retarded and my first thought was we have to sell this place as fast as possible) and that i chose the "wrong" option when i killed a guy who murder his own wife and a kid and appointed his brother to the throne
nothing else, no names, no bits of main quest, no ending, hell i don't even remember what class i was. and i played this game at 2020
for comparison i played kingmaker in 2019 and i remember it a lot more vividly
Sure, the first game is dry and a slog and simply forgettable, because every 5 minute you're getting a huge exposition text about some faggy lore, but from what I remember, it was one of the first games that came with the resurrection of CRPGs as a genre.
You could say that PoE had to walk so Kingmaker could run.

Tim Cain uploaded a video daydreaming about an Arcanum remaster in which, basically, he says he and the other Troika co-founders legally own the source code to Arcanum, but the IP is owned by Microsoft after a series of acquisitions and the source code cannot be publicly released due to the terms of the original publishing agreement.

I was about to post that video. He actually updated the code to run on modern hardware, and was exploring what else he can change.
Gamemaking isn't just a day job to him.

He literally works for Microsoft. Surely they could reach a deal of some type without that much of a issue. He at least has the connections to try and get it done.

I doubt they have much interest in it. Arcanum was awesome but it was also pretty janky even by old CRPG standards.

Gen Z wouldn't have a good time with the Black Mountain Clan mines.

Aren't most remasters targeted at folk nostalgic for the games they played in when younger.
The biggest non-technical/non-legal issue may be the Gnome/half-ogre conspiracy straight out of Mein Kampf.

He's semi-retired and only came back as a consultant for Outer Worlds 2. Maybe it'd work if Microsoft wasn't so monomanically obsessed with AI.

That too. Plus The Orcish Question which you can read in the Tarant library that gets really close to outright saying the 14 words and talks about the possibility of using eugenics to make half-orcs less aggressive and capable of fitting in to civilized society.

Which, you know, was what people said about the Irish in the 19th century, so it's entirely period appropriate.

WoTR is probably one of the worst optimized console ports I've ever seen which is especially interesting considering how good rogue trader came out. It's less performance wise and more that it's not built for a controller. Messing around with basic inventory, leveling up and movement feels like shit.
