Crusader Kings 3 - Its Crusader Kings 2 with a paint job

Didn't they wait longer before make that tho?
Paradox is incompetent in a lot of ways, but they’re not totally retarded. If they’d figured it out with Cities Skylines and Rimworld, it makes sense they can crank it out quicker for CK3. Besides, there’s not a whole lot of macroing you need for it as the UI is pretty simple to use. It’s almost like they realized they can make more money going to consoles.

Wtf? Did they hire a fart fetishist to help work on the Royal Court Expansion?

I've noticed that a fair amount of the events added in Royal Court are really ahistorically written and often goofy in nature. CK2 also constantly added stupid events and secret societies and shit instead of expanding the historical nature of the game, so it's annoying to see CK3 going down the exact same path. Here's hoping we get a DLC that reworks the Byzantines or nomads next instead of something stupid.

Overall, I really like the Royal Court expansion's features. The cultural divergence and the hybrid cultures are a really neat addition imo. I also like the artifact creation and the new, lesser titles you can hand out to your courtiers for added benefits like prestige and reknown.

But yeah, some of the writing is really stupid. I don't mind the ahistorical stuff as long as it makes sense in context of the time period.

I hope they keep the quality of future DLC's high like the Royal Court DLC, which is really good despite some of the horrendous writing here and there. I rather get less, but higher quality dlc's than some of the garbage that came out for CK2, quite a few of which made the game more aggravating to play.

Wait you guys actually read events instead of just skimming them and choosing the best outcome?
I don't read them because I kinda know them all. After several playthroughs to 1400+ the game becomes super repetitive.,

I have to rant.

I bought CK3 last May and haven't played it since trying it out, playing as Bohemia at first. I thought it was kind of boring, not much happened, and felt the game needed a year to mature a bit. It's almost a year later, after reading the thread, I figured it was time to try it out again. I first play as Robert Guiscard and managed to steam roll through Sicily before 1070. In real life it took Guiscard and his brother up until 1090. Felt that game was going nowhere, I decided to start the William the Conquer campaign. That's where I got annoyed. Harold Godwinson was able to make alliances with Barcelona, Aragon, and Naverre to defend his crown. I'm not against England making alliances in this scenario, I'm against far-fetched alliances that make zero sense for the Iberian powers to make. All three domains have land bordering emirates, why would they agree to alliance to such a far nation? Why would they take their armies to England leaving their lands wide open for attack? Even Attila Total War had a negative attribute for trying to ally with powers too far away. It was just silly and wrecked it for me.

This game needs another year...

Assuming a timeline where England wasn't at war and likely to lose, it actually would be a pretty good alliance to make. The Iberian powers that you mentioned would all probably feel pretty threatened by Leon and Castile, and rightfully so. Iberia and England aren't that far away, either, if we're talking about alliances that could actually be useful in wars. That said, the AI is incredibly stupid when it comes to honoring alliances even to their detriment, as you mentioned, and I have seen some odd alliances from countries a continent away, like random Balkan nations and Scotland. They also need to make historical decisions and paths much easier for the AI to take, as in all my recent games William has lost his war against England, and it's near impossible for the AI to do things like forming the HRE or successfully complete the Reconquista when starting in 867.

The upside is the new HOI4 DLC looks amazing. Time to make a Monarchist Italy.
