I really fucking hate tankies. "Every protest against communist regimes is a CIA coup, but there's no way our communist protests in western countries have Chinese backing!"

That and their horseshit "Cubans in Miami were rich slaveowners" rhetoric. They should have their citizenship revoked, their clothing confiscated, and be deported to the middle of the Sahara.

I knew this was coming. You would think that she would try not to expose herself as an out-and-out commie, but instead she goes all in and bitches about "muh sanctions!"
Now I hate commies as much as the next guy, but just to play devils advocate here, but is there a point in that? If all sanctions were dropped, would Cuba be a flourishing commie paradise or a slightly better tropical shithole? Personally I think it's the latter, but idk much about Cuban politics and whatnot.

It wouldn't survive very long as a communist country, because you'd get influx of foreign soft influence in the form of tourism and trade. Native population can then compare standard of living between their and other countries, which very soon leads to disillusionment, then anger, then protests.

So either the regime reacts and closes everything down again, or people emigrate, or they start importing weapons.

This actually happened in Cuba back when it was still open for American tourism. Castro clamped down on that hard.

Communism can never work in a full blown society.
Communism relies on there being no variables. Everyone that is of age must do X, everyone of this age must do Y. No questioning, no individualism, no individual needs.

Because invariably humans always want something that others don't have, even if the differences are small or un-noticeable to outsiders, there will always be a hierarchy, there will always be more value placed on certain services and a caste system will develop. It's hardwired into all forms of existence. It's a natural order.
People tend to choose individual choice over strict authoritarianism.

If all sanctions were dropped, would Cuba flourish? Not with a communist government, because it's clearly not in the interest or the will of, the majority. No human existence has ever naturally gravitated towards Marxism, ever.

That's not to say some form of socialism couldn't work, if it was the will of the people, but it's not the will of the people. It's the will of a few who have seized power from the people.

Haven't Canadians and Europeans regularly been going to Cuba in droves for the last 20 years?

In her official statement, Commie Cortez stands with the Cuban people and blames Orange Man for what is currently going on.

Given how slim the democratic control of Congress is, maybe AOC can get a few other reps together and block all legislation in the House until Congress addresses Cuba in some way. Maybe they can give that squad a cute name and do press conferences and stuff, too.

She grandstanded (grandstood?) over single payer healthcare, saying that she would not vote to confirm Pelosi as speaker of the house and folded the day of immediately.
