Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
I can even tell by the fucking lighting and shaders he's playing an extremely outdated and probably pirated version of the game.

People are fucking desperate to hate CDPR.
Is it desperation if it's so easy to?
gamers are the biggest niggercattle ever lmao.
Yep. Is the game beautiful while everything else is just barely serviceable? Bank. Slap the word "gamer" on an otherwise normal product (gamer chair is the biggest example)? Bank. Pleasing buzzwords that may not be true because marketing is a soulless profession and they should kill themselves? Bank. A character that isn't insufferable and is actually attractive be they male or female? Bank. Gameplay is so simple someone who had their frontal lobe removed by an bear? Bank. Standards were always low for the masses. Anyway, why did I come here again? Oh right:
They actually made a song I despise into something listenable. Neat. Also why are there still so many people playing this game? 26,994 players for the 24 peak good lord. Is there really no better games they could be playing? I know I answered myself for this question earlier but it really interests me how this game could hold a sizeable playerbase like this. If it had multiplayer I'd understand, why many terrible games keeps a playerbase. But multiplayer was scrapped, there's no mod for it that I can tell...so what gives?

In the year of our lord 2024? No. I am one of those 26,994 simply because there's nothing fucking else out there. I've got no desire to fuck around with Rockstar's social club bullshit to get GTAV running, I've played New Vegas so many damn times I need something that isn't the brown deserts, and the world is less boring and with more things to do than in RDR2 since no matter where you go there's some gangoons on a corner you can shoot and loot unlike in RDR2. Put simply, there's no goddamn open world game out there to compete.

Even in this dreaded year, like the dreaded years before it, there were and are still better games to play. Not many, but if you really peel back the layers of absolute shit you'll find them.

At the risk of sounding like an utter asshole even more than usual, sounds like you're just scratching the normie surface. RDR2 is...yeah, GTA 5 is alright, the online for those games can suck lemons, New Vegas...well we talked about it plenty of times in the Fallout thread so eh, that's it? Surely there's more you've played? What are you really looking for in this doomed (once normies get bored of it to stop funding this) genre we call Open World that'll keep you entertained? Also, RDR2, God damn I could not get into it so I'd say you're right in saying "less boring and with more things to do than in RDR2." Even the RDR plebbit found is boring as sin.
Put simply, there's no goddamn open world game out there to compete.
I don't play too many OW (I can probably count them on one hand, maybe some more fingers on the other) games so I can't speak for it, but surely there's...something better than Cybershit? Even then, damn I can't fathom playing Open World games these days to begin with since they're all so...meh. Unrelated but I see you around often, I think that's pretty neat to see someone who shares multiple of my interests in some shape or form.

If we're talking some sort of open-world adventure/RPG then that leaves uh... Witcher 3? Elder Scrolls? Fallout 4? Eurojank like the Gothic games or Divinity? This isn't exactly a very saturated market, and while I'm definitely normie tier in my tastes here I did buy and try Two Worlds 2 so I'm not exactly unfamiliar with some of the more... outre offerings.

And yeah, agreed on seeing guys around with the same interests.

I hear Enshrouded is pretty good for an Early Access game. I don't support EA, any EA, company or label, so I don't know. Black Skylands looks rads, Satisfactory reached 1.0 and while I don't have plans on playing it because I have Factorio instead and I'm not made a money, if you like more base building focused games like me and have copious amounts of autism unlikemeiswear you'll probably get a kick out of it, technically Open World. Void Crew I hear is damn neat for a multiplayer focuses space game, Everspace 2 for a singleplayer focused space game, I can't not mention Starsector for obvious reasons. If you can stomach jank games then maybe Caribbean Legend would be good for you. On the actually half decent Dicksword I harbor myself in and pollute with my fuckery I made a list and reviewed various Roguelike/Roguelites that are very much Open World as well, could probably get them for you sometime if it's not deleted...again. Not exactly top tier in the graphics department but that's never the point of them. Matchless Kung-Fu (hey hey people) is very much Chinese jank but is pretty damn unique, its open world is made specifically by the player, when they from randomly generated pieces that you can earn in various ways to expand the map to quite nicely sized proportions. Again, jank as hell and quite autistic but fun. There's those Ghost Recon games that are so much better (I.E. actually good) when modded. I Am Your Beast, a game I've been watching for a while since I like the dev, or at least his games like Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator (hey hey pe-) and the El Paso games, came out recently so look into that. I got into Moonring recently and it's pretty neat (inspired by classic Ultima) and it's free. It's pretty difficult so be warned. I'm trying not to..."display my powerlevel" as it were when it comes to game suggestions since I'd have to whip out it again. There's classics like Sleeping Dogs, Mad Max, Red Faction, Dying Light, Kingdom Come, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, The Saboteur, The Getaway, Rain World, Outward, yada yada I could go on, but Open World can come with varying degrees and I'm trying to stick to more well known games. Smaller tends to be better as it's easier to flesh the map out, so if you're looking for big ass open world games be prepared for it to be a snorefest. Itch.io is your friend too if you ignore some of the obvious trash. Roguebasin too but that's mostly if you like Roguelikes/Roguelites. I...noticed that some of what I mentioned aren't open world RPGs, forgive me.

You could also just play well established older games that are more often than not linear, or if you still insist on Open World you can play shit like Shenmue, the classic GTA, Just Cause 2 and 3, the Fable games, Far Cry 2, Freelancer (oooo boy makes me want to go on another rant about fucking Starcitizen), the Ultima series...some of it at least, speaking of Ultima, check this old ass site out. I actually remember seeing this site from this RPGCodex thread, how time has gone. RPGCodex is also a good place to check. All this is of course if you haven't already played these games or know this sites.

Jesus dude, have you heard of these things called paragraphs? I've also played your classics a few times. Just got done with a KCD playthrough a couple months ago as prep for the sequel, Mad Max was good but I really don't want a bunch of desert, same reason why Guerilla isn't an option. Dying Light is solid but I've done that before, STALKER has been done to death, The Saboteur I tried but wound up not being too fond of it.

As to a lot of your other games, I was specifically talking about the Bethesda/GTA-like open-world games, of which there really isn't a whole lot of anything else out there to complete with CP2077 at the moment.

How did you get these to run without issues?

It was only the third one and it was a long, long time ago. I couldn't tell you how.
Damn shame. Last time I tried, the controls were all eff'ed up (not helped by how much the camera zoomed in), the controls weren't responding correctly, and my mouse was also ignored.

Really don't know what Piranha Bites was thinking, starting the game with a fucking brawl for a tutorial.

Yeah, I think I was using Win 7 or even XP at the time, which would minimize the jank compared to a more modern OS.

:story: My bad, I forget to format after writing too long.

Even then I wouldn't call 2077 Bethesda/GTA-like (not sure why anyone would want anything Bethesda-like these days). It has flavors of the latter but other than that I can find barely any similarities. Otherwise...uhh, yeah I can't find much that are even half-decent. Outward I guess. Your tastes are difficult to satisfy it seems.

I'm certain you've heard this a million times but Bethesda has cornered the market on easily moddable open world sandbox games with a million interactable items in it (Starfield MUCH less so). The moment someone comes along offering all of those things in a less gay package, Bethesda loses their niche. I wish @Epoch was still around because he'd talk your ear off about how despite NetImmerse Gamebryo the Creation engine being a massive piece of shit, it still does things that nothing else out there does as well as it does.

The only game I would consider close to Bethesda-like is Kingdom Come, and even that's a bit of a stretch. 2077 is a Far Cry-like.

Yeah I've heard it before, doesn't make it any less true so yeah well said. Epoch huh? Well, I'd love to listen/read what he had to say/write. And yeah (yeahyeahyeah is that all I can say?) look at Fallout 4 and Skyrim. I doubt they'd have such a high playerbase (mostly Skyrim) these days if they weren't heavily moddable. I had pleasant conversations on the /tesg/ dicksword over the years so no need to retread shit we all know already...on the 2077 thread at least.

Far Cry-like? You know what, accurate. And no, not even a stretch. More like a Space Jam level reach, no offense.
there's how many of those out there that isn't Far Cry or Fallout?
By pure genre rather than similarity there's still not many for better or worse. Metro: Exodus? Rage 2 if you really hate yourself, GR: Wildlands with the first person mod? Days Gone I guess. Prey? Not really "open world" but pretty large. Probably more I can't name but they're not really fitting to your criteria so my apologies.

I've played all of those, believe it or not. Prey turned into a bit of a slog, Exodus is frustrating because the game actively punishes you with a bad ending for indulging in the excellent gunplay, Rage 2 was... yeah, not again, and Wildlands really needs buddies for you to shoot the shit with over VoIP. And yes, I already did beat it not long after it came out, and Days Gone is something that was good once but I just don't have much motivation to play a second time.

I like Prey despite its awful sections, but it's the kind of game that's probably not worth playing more than twice. I had fun coming back to it a couple years after I first played it knowing that everything can be solved using combat focus, psychoshock, and the shotgun in that order. I'm a hypocrite and have played through it I think four times now and every time I've found something new, though it's never anything cool, just a cubby or crawlspace I didn't know about before, containing nothing besides materials or ammo.

It's a shame that Arkane will never make another game worth playing. Lyon is the worse branch and should have been shuttered instead of Austin. Austin might have shat out Redfall but Lyon released Dishonored 2, Death of the Outsider, Deathloop, and some crappy Wolfenstein cash grab titles after TNC failed.

Why don't they want to make more CP expansions? like they didn the lion's share of the work and could print more money by just reusing what they had

I’m guessing they ran the numbers and just saw it wasn’t worth it. It’s a shame as some of the leaks about the planned DLC sounded great.

Part of me hopes they are working on some in secret and just randomly drop it in the future like they do with Witcher 3 content, but then I go back to my corner were I cope, seethe, and dilate.

It would have been good if they had DLC fleshing out the first act a bit more. You and Jackie getting up to mischief. It goes too quickly into the ticking time bomb in my head storyline and padding out the second and third act takes away from that.
