Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

It really begs the question why Arasaka didn't just use a backdoor to shut David down. It happens to V in the corpo prologue; why isn't there such a failsafe in the cyberskeleton if it's so powerful and expensive? They were evidently banking on David being able to take out a whole Militech platoon by himself; what was the plan after he did so? Just let Adam Smasher handle it? Not very prudent considering it's a weapon system meant to one up his existing capabilities.

Also Rebecca isn't a child. We're not playing by Australian government rules.
Basically what @Snekposter said. Also, they were probably counting on using the fact that they had his lover as a way of controlling him later, but everything went off the rails and their paid off fixer double crossed his allies one too many times, while also incompetently allowing the situation to get out of hand.

Shouldn't have gone with the lowest bidder there, Arasaka...

I'd just like to reiterate my love for Adam Smasher.

It's refreshing as hell to have a character so delightfully evil, yet so clearly lucid. Dude loves being a giant cybernetic killing machine and there's no convoluted backstory about him growing up in poverty or some other bullshit; he just got jacked up on chrome, realised this shit was Fucking Amazing, and went all-in.

Plus, I know his name is a play on now-common science equipment, but I'll be damned if that doesn't add a wonderful little element of camp.

lmao
lol even.
I haven't even watched the anime proper and i've seen some very nice frames floating around the internet. How did you pick the worst possible frame to showcase the animes look?

Also Rebecca isn't a child. We're not playing by Australian government rules.
They're not a Loli they're a 5 bajillion year old demon dragon guys, she just conveniently chose the appearance of an 8 year old i swear. It's always the same excuse with you people. Just admit the anime has a pedo-bait character and get over it.

The anime itself is following the exact same trajectory the Devil Man Cry Baby anime followed. Everyone is raving about how much sex and violence there is but how it's still deep and meaningful and blah blah blah. Give it 2 months, at most 3 and people will have forgotten about it.

I don't know how it's brain washing people to like the game though, i decided to reinstall it after the EdgeRunner update, played it for 20-25 minutes, realized it's still a mostly broken piece of shit with mountains of missing features and turned it off.

It wasn't a corporate-level plan, it was one department head or whatever and her lackey going off-book to save a flailing project by getting the data she needed to boost her portfolio. She didn't have approval which is why she made a point about needing a fall guy.

Still raises a question of why they wouldn't have a suitable killswitch in all their military gear that she could have just pushed, but I guess it was a prototype and they didn't have one implemented yet on that testbed.
Which makes sense for compartmentalisation reasons I guess; you don't need every engineer knowing it exists if you're gonna try and sell military contracts. Safer just to put a bomb in the skull of all your (approved) test pigs.

BTW, I suspect the unexpected and (underdeserved) positive reaction to the anime may lead to Rebecca and David being revived in some form.
David's fucking dead-dead.
But yeah I paused as soon as it happened to check if her brain case was crushed. Nope.

Guaranteed Arasaka will scrape her off the pavement and she'll be back as Adam's sidekick. She can sit on his shoulder like an evil parrot.

People are already making up heaps of theories but how David could possibly still be alive, anything from "It's a simulation!" to "He downloaded himself into Lucy's consciousness somehow." push comes to shove they always have the Digital Conscience and brain chip crap from the game. And while you could ask " Why would they bother to make a construct of some random street kid." They did canonically make a construct of Jackie, so who knows.

I know people say "Don't count it unless you explicitly see the character die." but there's been tonnes of cases in both wester and eastern media where characters that pretty explicitly die come back somehow. If they really want to milk the fan favorites, even on screen death can't really stop them.

So you are not concerned because they released one of the worst games of all time, you are concerned because they said some milquetoast shit about gays or trannies? Is that right?
CP2077 was far from the worst games of all time lmao. Was it sold buggy and over promised? Sure, but they have at least fixed a good chunk of the issues. But Blackrock and their ESG faggotry is a plague on humanity.

Lmao if they kill GOG because DRM equals equity.

If the stock spikes, it adds circumstantial evidence to hedge funds shorting it and running the campaign to shit on 2077's launch.
What a shame. Grown to like GOG. And (((they))) wonder why people are suddenly becoming more noticable on the Hebrew quandary when they let Blackrock run roughshod.

The Cyberpunk franchise, as well as the genre in general, suffers from being rooted in 1980's anti-Reagan paranoia, and the themes were never updated.
More like they can't be. You get canceled for countering the narrative in today's age.

For one thing, V on the Corpo track is a guinea pig to Arasaka until he isn't. For another, the events of the last episode have David fulfilling that guinea pig role anyway.

I doubt it with David at least. Adam did pulp his brain.

Gvmers released a fall and comeback video for the game. Did the game pull a No Man's Sky? To be determined. My hunch is no with this new support for ESG video the devs released.

In 2 years all CDPR has managed to do is fix most of the game breaking bugs (file corruption, soft locking, hardware bricking etc) some of the more minor stuff like the bug where you can launch yourself, certain objects lacking collision boxes, your car spawning in the ground or in another vehicle, cops spawning immediately behind you, V sleeping sideways, gunshots now cause water splashes etc etc. They tuned the driving enough to where it's bearable. They "fixed" the perk tree so you don't have perks for mechanics that aren't even in the game (ex: human shields), fix some of the exploits with crafting and other infinite money/infinite xp loopholes.

They've added some hair styles and customization options, you can change some of your appearance in mirrors now, they added Transmogrification for your clothes. Added a few new weapons, a few new pieces of clothing, for edge runners specifically they added i think 3 quests related to the show? The most significant feature added was buying apartments and choosing a decoration style for it. You still can do fuck all in the apartments themselves but whatever.

There's still no car customization, there's still no cop chasses, the wanted system is still as busted as it was during release. a lot of the animations are still busted, most of the missions are still garbage tier filler, 99% of the big important missions still don't have any real significant choices in them that drastically deviate the plot (certainly not to the level of the Mailstrom hideout mission), life paths still don't fucking matter and ultimately just amount to 20 minutes intros, story is still ass, Johny Silverhand is still ass...

There is no turn around. There never was and there likely never will considering they keep repeating the same mistakes like announcing the sequal before they even have a team working on the damn thing. I'm willing to bet once the expasion comes out it will likely push them back to square 1 as i don't doubt the expansion is going to break and introduce a lot of broken things.

The only way Cyberpunk Orion has any hope at this point is if somehow Eidos goes tits up while working on the next Deus Ex game so they all decide to migrate over to CDPR and take all the tech, gameplay mechanics and ideas they had for Deus Ex and put them in the next cyberpunk game.

Listen, i really wish this was a VtM Bloodlines situation where once the community got in there and fixed some of the worst offenders (bug and performance wise) then we would end up with a very deep, enthralling RPG with an interesting story, intriguing characters and high replayability that was always at it's core. That's simply not the case with Cyberpunk 2077.

Sperging over.

No Mans Sky is practically a different game at this point but people still shit on it and call it a scam (rightfully at first but i'd give the studio the benefit of the doubt after so many years of putting actual effort into it).

While Cyberpunk 2077 gets a free pass and a standing ovation because they have an anime with a cyber-loli in it. People seem to have forgotten that they completely lied to both the press, the investors, and even lied to themselves internally for months before shitting the game out. The only reason they didn't jump ship on it right away is because they had 5 different people trying to sue them.

They haven't even made significant content updates to it, they somewhat made it stable and added the fucking feint shadows of the features they had promised for 1-2 years pre-release.
I don’t necessarily think that players getting back to the game means they’re giving it a free pass. Both players of No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 could, at least in retrospect, acknowledge that these games should have been complete when they were released. I can’t defend both Hello Games and CDPR for their marketing decisions and deception.

Two years later, and I still hadn’t gotten this game despite waiting so long for it to be released. What a shame.
