Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Biggest game disappointment of next year, calling it now.

Calling that your statement is bullshit? But seriously, I honestly don't get what people were expecting when the previous Alpha demo they showed, kinda gave a hint what the game is gonna be, if after that you still gonna go "Oh man this is gonna be such a let down", then I question what fucking game were you expecting.

Lol

Strong agreement. Are there examples of games that do open world well?
Morrowind. It's much smaller than current open world games but everything important is hand placed. You don't have to worry about quest rewards being shit because you were outleveled for the quest. Hard areas are intrinsically hard. Don't go into a Daedric ruin at level 1 unless you really know what you're doing. But there is some soft level scaling that biases enemies and random drops a little bit as you get further in, allowing for spawning of more powerful daedra, replacing regular creatures with blighted versions, etc.

I mean, their best option is to have a level scaling system where say in starting areas enemies scale with your level but to a certain capacity, like say in the starting area the maximum cap for enemies is five and they don't scale beyond that, medium is say fifteen, while enemies in high level areas remain the level they need to until the player reaches 'em. However, that concept of level scaling does come with problems as you'll get players being salty how they don't feel like a bad ass, since instead of enemies being going down in one shot, they are now the players level and can soak up some damage.
That's more or less how Morrowind does it. And it's rewarding. You can come back and waste a shitload of bandits at once that are lower level than you after struggling through the game, killing some big daedra, and getting an artifact weapon. There's a real sense of progression.

That's setting appropriate. Cyberpunk deals with transhumanism and extreme body modification.

the developer basically said that they're (working towards) having enough customization so you can skew the faces more towards either more feminine or masculine features so you can androgynous, butch or whatever, the headline sort of construes that as confirmation of there being a transgender box you can tick, probably so that they can hold it against CDPR when it turns out they're not delivering what they've made up for themselves.

not that it would be enough, anyway..

because in 2077, a dystopia where degenerates can turn themselves into an anthropomorphic dog or shark without anyone caring, is going to have a stigma against gender reassignment surgery.

even if their idealistic cyberpunk utopia is handed to them, they want their issues of today to persist to this fictional world where transitioning is handled entirely different even though it wouldn't make sense for the narrative to treat them that way.

Reason #3427 why game developers should never ever listen to ResetEra.

I got a muddled explanation about Keanu from somebody irl today. So is he like, Johnny Mnemonic umpteen years later? John Wick because whatever John Wick is cool? I mean shit you could tell me Wick is Johnny Mnemonic but with all five gigs of brainspace reassigned to combat or something and I could accept it.

He was Johnny Mnemonic, and he was one of the leads in 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' and it's sequel, starring as Theodore 'Ted' Logan, of the Wyld Stallions, legendary rock band of the future. I don't know if Mike Pondsmith is a Bill & Ted's fan, but it would be a tie-in for the musical aspect of Johnny Silverhand, and the Johnny Mnemonic would be a tie-in for the cyberpunk theme.

And Keanu was in a band at one point between the Matrix and him acting in a lot of stuff again. I can’t remember the name, but they opened for Bon Jovi and Bowie a few times. A former soldier turned musician turned poor schlub stuck in a microchip is a startlingly apt role considering his other movies.

That’s fair. Even if it weren’t like that there being a bunch of gender confused freaks makes sense in the world of Cyberpunk because everyone in the world has some sort of body modification.

So many people want the game to be all about them and their ideology. From trannycucks to /pol/cucks the retardation surrounding this game is incredible. Though I have a pretty good feeling CDPR isn't listening too much to either.

Just play NeoTokyo if you're so horny for a shootbangy in a cyberpunk setting with no talking, God. Bait is so obvious, even 12-year olds on /v/ aren't this entitled anymore.
Neotokyo was a big disappointment as a cyberpunk Source engine multiplayer FPS. The best one was Dystopia, where they were able to competently integrate both physical combat and cyberspace hacking combat into the gameplay flow.

perks of not being an American developer? there's a bunch of different interviews they've done for The Witcher and the negative ones always just tackle politics and concepts that were probably foreign to Polish developers in the last decade (i.e. why not having black people would be considered uncouth), i thought it as funny you could summarize most of their reactions to "because, fuck you." back in like 2007.

even now in their interviews with EuroGamer, RPS and PC Gamer and some others, they're just questioning whether CDPR are woke yet or not, questioning why V was being mean towards a Haitian man during one part of the E3 demo, if there are any non-binary character creation options, gender fluid representation? i had to listen to the Easy Allies summary to learn that non-lethal runs were a thing.

Soundtrack was pretty amazing, though.
