Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I wonder if something big has gone really wrong. A five month delay this close to release is not good.

To be fair, though, Witcher 3 was originally slated for October 2014 then delayed first to February 2015 then May 2015...

CD Projekt Red are the kind of developers who'll delay a game 5 months because they're not happy about how the areola look on the boobs of that girl you have to carry naked out of an organ farm in the demo level. They'll spend those months studying various real breasts in detail and probably writing an entire physics engine to ensure that Cyberpunk 2077 has the gold standard video game breasts that we the players deserve.

This delay fucking sucks, I was looking forward to playing this game in April. I made a request for a demo on their forum, but I have no idea if they'll actually listen or not.

Fine. Make it "perfect" or whatever. Now the bar has really been set, so they better deliver; every blemish is gonna be held over their heads now, lol. Only now I expect some fucking content. They can go on and on about how deep and amazing their game is but without even new screenshots I'm ignoring anything about this game until new content drops or the thing is on shelves. Really wish developers stopped projecting releases so far out

Yeah, I’m pretty pissed off about this.

I’m getting flashbacks to Bioshock Infinite, another game that kept getting delayed and didn’t live up to the hype.

I'm fine with that. Gives me more time to ogle, I mean, play the Resident Evil R3make in April.

Honestly, if it's delayed till fall:

They should just release it with the new consoles.

It could be a "Black Flag" launch title...
From what I understand, the new Xbox Series X... the Monolith looking motherfucker... is supposed to be cross compatible with previus gen games, so instead of having the usual "new gen is here, all stop on previous gen hardware" it's supposed to be a transition over... or at least hthat's how the sales pitch goes.

That being said, come the E3 2020 Microsoft conference, it wouldn't surprise me if CDPR showed up again to reveal their game did run on both the Xbone and the XSeX (yes, I'm easily amused), just that the XSeX version ran purtier or something.

If I had to guess I'd say they're reversing the no third person cutscenes thing. The response to that announcement was overwhelmingly negative and it makes very little sense for an rpg.

I hope so, still don't know why they opted for that.

i assumed it was a launch title anyways. like if you are going to release it this far into a console generation you sould just automatically be planning on it being on the next consoles. i know publishers are greedy fucks, but it would really help the whole industry by making sure your stupid consoles actually have games people want to play. it took until they released the pro versions of the ps4 and xb1 before they actually had some shit to play on them. and we all know if they have to release these games on old consoles that means the inevitable watchdogs-esque downgrade.

When instead they should have always been thinking about making this the launch title on whatever new shit sony comes up with, that way they can make a game focused heavily on using the technology to its limit. just once i want an open world game where they expect only people with the top of the line shit would be playing at launch and eventually everyone else would get it afterwards. I got a 980 5 years ago and have never had a reason to upgrade yet.

everything is still ultra with 60fps+

April 2020 was already a fairly early release date considering the vertical slice from 2018 was still an alpha version of the game, i wouldn't look too much into those five extra months considering how much shit there is to check for bugs/polish.

Since next gen is so close, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to double dip like Rockstar did with Grand Theft Auto V.

Or (spit balling here), the Xbox Series X and PS5 will run the game better through their backwards compatibility functions.

It will be a backward compatiniliy thing. But, with an update, get a significant frame boost and loading time reduction...

That's about it..

The new consoles are built off the same architecture. It's not going to a massive leap, save for load times...

DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNAR!

There's 0 point in releasing your highly touted video game at the tail end of the LAST generation. You want your hotness to shine like michael jordan's dome while he drinks gatorade (I can tell you from experience, that sucker glows!) on the latest and greatest hardware. All this is doing is giving us a time frame of WHEN the next gen consoles will be released: i.e. September 2020.

Both Sony and MS have publicly stated that they will release the next console in 'holiday season 2020'. September is the 9th month which falls into the tail end/beginning of 3rd/4th fiscal quarter. As a company tying your console to show a noticable Quarter over Quarter growth is key to getting that fat bonus check when they come around as you can point to an uptick in sales numbers as Q3 went up, Q4 is DEFINATELY up and the market will peak during Nov/Dec when Black Friday/Cyber Monday comes around.

Watch, you'll see more publishers holding off till Q3/Q4 to release games, chances are the publishers are also getting some fat kickback from MS/Sony to help sell their consoles when release with the new games as CP2077 is a game in demand. The marvel SJW Shitshows? Not so much.

Outside of outliers like the Switch, new consoles usually release during November (around Black Friday for better sales).

I don't know, I think this is more of a case where a game's released close to the launch of new consoles, just like GTA V.

I don't get the big deal about these delays. People bitch and moan endlessly about massive day 1 patches, rushed releases and shitty, buggy engines; isn't it better for the consumer in the end if the studio sucks more at timelines than at content?
Sometimes delaying too much results in a Duke Nukem Forever. Or you get a Star Citizen.

Doubt most are worrying about a DNF, of course. Doubt half the people hyped for Cyberpunk post E3 2019 even know what Duke Nukem is. Not sure if the term instant gratification would fit what's going on here, but something like that.

Would prefer a delay over messes like No Man's Sky's launch.
