Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I thought people were posting that if you took down the cyber-psychos with non-lethal the game paid attention to that?

I remember the first time in Deus Ex when I played through and found the game being extremely diligent in noticing whether I went in like the angel of death or just giving people harmless concussions and lung damage. But to be fair, that's pretty unreasonable to expect shit from a 20 year old game to be included in stuff today.

Thus the "it isn't specifically a non-lethal mission" part. You're asked to take down the cyber-psychos non-lethally. If they don't specifically make it a mission objective to non-lethally defeat the enemies and you non-lethally take them down it just acts like you killed them. Its like it doesn't bother checking unless it gave you a prompt to do it.

For some examples, there is a father/son team making snuff films in a side quest but not getting directly involved in any part but the video editing. After you gun down the gangsters working with them they're left making excuses and begging for their lives. You can either shoot them for their crimes or let them go. I decided to split the difference, beat them up and leave them for the cops as a healthy alternative. The son immediately acts like I murdered his father. On another quest there are several gangsters who are KOed with some braindance things. Also snuff related. You can shoot them if you want, at which the mission companion comments how ruthless you are (even if you're using the non-lethal rounds). Related to the hostage mission the nomad romance option asks to help get revenge on a dude. I KOed him and she's all happy about how we killed him and Rogue is texting asking if killing him was worth it.

Its especially weird since "canonically" the bounties you get as a reward for taking out enemies are paid by the police force, so most of the time non-lethally KOing enemies should be a valid option to get rid of them since they all have bounties on their heads.

Cyberpunk 2077 Refunds Being Denied by Sony/Microsoft, CDPR Not Getting Special Treatment

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally out in the wild, but unfortunately, the game is a bit of a mess on current-gen consoles. Very low resolution, a lack of detail, framerates that can drop as low as 15fps, and, of course, tons of glitches – the game is near unplayable on a base Xbox One or PS4, and in a recent apology to fans, CD Projekt Red seemed to outright suggest asking for a refund. Well, turns out it’s not as easy as that.
Over the last couple days since CDPR issued its apology, numerous people have reported having their refund requests turned down by Sony and Microsoft. Basically, if you purchase a game digitally on either PlayStation or Xbox, you have to demonstrate it’s outright broken, as in, won’t even start, in order to get a refund. A game just being ugly, janky, and glitchy doesn’t qualify. This particularly applies if patches have been promised, which is the case with Cyberpunk 2077.

Meanwhile, SVP of business development Michal Nowakowski explained that while the company's recent apology made it seem like CDPR may be receiving special treatment from Sony and Microsoft, it’s actually not the case. In other words, seems like they jumped the gun suggesting fans ask for refunds…

CDPR has set up an email address for those looking for help with refunds (helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com), so if you’re having trouble, perhaps give that a try.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and can be played via backward compatibility on Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

500 Hours in MSPaint.

I haven't been following this game at all but a friend of mine gifted it to me for Christmas. Took about two days to download with state-of-the-art satellite internet. So my expectations were incredibly low to non-existent and, yet, still I was let down.

It seems like a dumbed down version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution (lol) and I'm guessing no dialogue branches because game developers tend to front load that and there were none in the first hour. After completing the tutorial that teaches you to press F behind enemies to do a silent take down you get a real combat thing. Double barrel [10.17 DPS 2 BULLETS PER MAGAZINE PRESS F TO PICK UP PRESS E TO EQUP] tickles the enemies because they're bullet sponges. Don't forget to press F because there's RARE COMPONETS and might as well get some SODA [INCREASES STAMINA BY 10%, INCREASES STAMINA REGENERATION BY 50%] PRESS F TO TAKE E TO USE. And sassy black woman hackers giving you a call press T to answer. Open up you're inventory and right next to your inventory there is a crafting menu.

lol. Gonna tell my friend to refund this. Give me a gun that hurts people and don't clutter my screen with prompts and for the love of god don't make me fucking find resources to upgrade weapons to increase their DPS. It's a gun, the DPS should be dead with a few bullets.

I'm mostly enjoying the game on PC for what it actually is - a competent open world but not as good of one as GTA V and a decent story but not as good of one as Deus Ex Human Revolution - but this insane shitshow surrounding CDPR's lies is much more entertaining

I've heard this said about so many dev's and it never lasts. Gamers, especially scorned gamers, have the memory of fucking goldfish.

Remember when I said there is literally no difference between lethal and non-lethal combat? NPCs don't notice it either. If I non-lethally shoot a guy and it isn't specifically a non-lethal mission everyone acts like I killed them. It makes all the non-lethal stuff feel even more tacked on.

Yeah, lethality is goofy. Especially since there are non lethal mods for the smart gun and all it does is make said lethal bullets not aim for the head. At first I started to think that maybe if you don't headshot guys they don't die since occasionally I find guys alive even after I kill them, but then every single cyber psycho I've done nothing but headshot and they always survive the fight despite what people on here tell me can happen.

Especially since CDPR only releases what, 1 game every 5 years.
The hype leading up to sequel Cyberpunk 2078 on only next gen and PC, combined with some shrewd PR on the part of these lying pollacks, will make this all a distant memory.
But for now, sweet heavenly host I'm enjoying the tearing of clothing asunder and screaming at the sky over this game.

Most disappointing thing about this game is the lack of content (read: main missions and side missions), feels like the second act of a three act game and a lot of stuff was pretty transparently cut for time (the stuff that was shown in the montage at the beginning, nasa island that you can't get to, multiple city districts with literally nothing to do in them other than gigs/assaults, more adam smasher stuff, brainwashing plot). Took me about 40 hours to do the main story, side quests, and quite a few gigs on very hard. Could probably have been cut down to 35 without the gigs, most of which are just stealing cars and driving them to garages, killing particular people, or stealing things. Some of them are pretty cool, but they don't make up for the relatively bare-bones main content. Imagine if in the Witcher 3 the main story was reduced to Novigrad, Bloody Baron, and then the game ended after the Kaer Morhen sequence - that's what the game feels like.

Man, what a fucking horrible year for games overall.

-Resident Evil 3 was short and changed all the wrong things making it a very disappointing remake.
-Final Fantasy VII remake changed way too much and was practically a sequel with all of the weird Advent Children shit showing up.
-Animal Crossing was dumbed down even more for casuals, and Mario 3D All Stars was nothing but emulated games.
-The Last of Us 2 was a complete horror show
- ...did anything of note even release on Xbox? I'd say Halo Infinite getting delayed a whole year would be a bad spot but considering everything that might actually have been a great fucking move on Microsofts part in the end.
-Black Ops Cold War is buggy as fuck, lacking content because of rush, has the community in an uproar over SBMM
-Cyberpunk 2077 is a complete disaster on consoles
- PS5 and Series X are impossible to preorder

I guess at least Ghosts of Tsushima was alright.

Haven't gotten into any firefights or so yet (I'm busy IRL) but it seems to run perfectly fine on my PC if I keep it on low. To be clear, I have a basic laptop with a 1050TI and an Intel Core 7700HQ, so pretty low end stuff. Getting a nice 50-60 FPS and I assume in firefights and demanding scenes I'll get 30-40.

Game also looks fucking great on low setting. At most there is the occasional jagged edges, but it's perfectly fine. Next month I'll get better Internet and I might get it on a streaming service instead, but I'll do just fine with these graphics.

Can't comment much on the game though as I'm only 30 mins in. I also didn't even know about the game a few months ago so I have 0% hype. Based on what I've seen so far I assume I'll enjoy it, has a very Deus Ex feel to it.

Also as far as actually decent AAA stuff, Doom Eternal released this year and in and has gotten pretty decent support, including dlc. In other terms, Half Life 1's remake Black Mesa officially "finished" this year after over a decade in development hell, and the Half Life franchise actually got another official game, even if it's only in VR.

I completely sympathize with Microsoft and Sony on this because portions of wealth are accrued from game sales and now, as a direct consequence of CD Projekt Red's actions, that's coming out of their bottom line. I guarantee you that CDPR didn't discuss this with them. So not only are customers pissed off at them, the big name console market is even more. Someone needs to be fired and they need to be fired now.

Going off topic but whatever. The only games I played that released this year were Wasteland 3 (Buggy as fuck but alright) Mafia DE (was my GOTY until) Doom Eternal. Overall it was an alright year for me. I've had better.

I mean, there were some good games too but it seems like a lot of really hyped up stuff was a giant fucking let down.

Fuck them both. There's supposed to be a god damn certification process to even release games on their system and they both okayed this going through. Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't some unlicensed bullshit, Sony and MS both knew what the fuck was going to happen.

I have an Xbox friend who has argued that I'm a moron for going PC because of the costs.

Meanwhile, he's spent damn near 1300 dollars buying every upgrade for the Xbox One, and that's not even getting into how much he has spent on Xbox Live and all the controllers he has had to replace for some reason.

There's never been a single Xbox where I haven't had to replace at least one controller. Both of my duke controllers had something go wrong, and a Controller S and a wired 360 controller just one day stopped working altogether. Like maybe they got power surged or something, I don't know. And even my newest Xbone controller has some stick drift. I have just one working controller for my original Xbox, and one for my 360. That's it, and who knows if they haven't spontaneously combusted while in their drawers.

Just like DNF. This is why I keep telling people that this push for longer and longer development times is only going to make games worse, not better.

I mean, it's no wonder the game is a mess on consoles. There's going to be problems if you have to keep changing development up for a new generation over and over.

Sony and MS need to figure out hat if you're main thing is 4k hyper realistic games, the 6 year cycle for consoles needs to become 10-12. Either that or the trend needs to shift back to stylized graphics that don't need 5 fucking years to develop.

I don't know why they insist on making these monsterously huge games that take 8 years to develop instead of just cutting them into several smaller sequels over time. Like the episodic approach, but from before episodic games were a thing and they were just considered sequels. Kinda like Shenmue, if they hadn't gone full retard after the second game.

Super Mario 3D All Stars also excluded Super Mario Galaxy 2, and its announcement trailer showed a collage of most of the Mario series, excluding Galaxy 2 like it never even existed, and isn't even going to be sold after March 2021 for no discernible reason other than to just get the consoomers to buy it as fast as possible. It really felt like the most unambiguously cynical cash grab Nintendo's ever pulled, and that's really saying something.

Xbox Game Studios bought out Zenimax, which means they now own Bethesda, id Software, MachineGames, and a smattering of other studios, but they're moving the Xbox identity away from being a dedicated game console platform into a general cloud gaming platform more along the lines of Google Stadia and Amazon Luma. There isn't even a single launch game for the Series X due to everything just being playable on the Xbox One anyway, and I don't think there's anything exclusive to Xcloud yet. So, yeah, Xbox had nothing for exclusives. It's all about the platform and having yet another monthly fee to cough up for games you don't get to own.

On Xbox, you will own no games, and you will be happy.

Also I totally forgot I'm in the Cyberpunk 2077 thread. I tried playing it and my computer can't even churn out a playable framerate that doesn't give me a headache at all settings low, and I tried to play it at 3440x1440 because I didn't want gigantic borders and there's no regular fullscreen mode for some reason - just windowed and borderless windowed. It'd probably play fine at 1280x720. I'm running a five year old i5 CPU + GTX 970.

I always piss my friend off cause I'm like "I can play all your games for five bucks on my computer."

I mean like, on one hand it's great for me I guess if Halo Infinite ends up being okay and I feel like playing it.

Really sucks for people who are balls deep on Xbox brand like my retard friend though.
