Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

So just found this on reddit. Sorry if late didn't see it posted.

Reddit post revealing save files cannot surpass 8MB without corrupting.

Official CDPR Post

TLDR: If your save file goes beyond 8MB, your save goes kaput. The solution given so far is "don't loot too much, don't craft too much, replay the game when you beat it instead of trying to do everything. You literally can't right now."

Lmao holy shit. CDPR's official stance is "just don't play the game."

Yea they're getting sued over this. I give it a week before this game somehow manages to burn someone's apartment down.

I'm basically going to have to restart my replay. I decided to do all the side quests available before the heist and having been upgrading my guns to ridiculous levels and my save file is already at 3 MB and I'm not even past the opening. Holy Shit.

Guess I'm just using a trainer if I ever get around to a replay to simulate new game plus.

Jesus I'll have to try and listen for that. How does something that obvious slip past?

The entire story must have been re-written really quickly for Keanu. The stupidity of the "your body will reject your brain" endings has been gnawing at me since I beat the game. It's just so stupid in terms of the world.

It reminded me of something I heard on the radio early on the irked me. It was something about how they finally found a treatment for MS but that the treatment costs 700,000 a month or something. Like...maybe it's just cause my mom has MS but it stuck out to me and it just seems like such a weird thing in a world with cybernetics.
The problem is their world-building is trash. A lot of the writers who were on 'The Witcher 3' were clearly let go. They don't have a good writing or world-building staff, even if they have these sourcebooks in front of them. Every single time these people go off the reservation its trash. Just open up a source book, take what's in it and put it in the game. D&D has been doing this practically forever, you've got First Person Shooter RPGS out the ass to build from. Yet every step of the way this is fucked. Every fight I'm noticing glitches now.
Pretty much everything from the 2018 build was. As mentioned in the reddit post the radio announcer in V's apartment actually says Johnny Silverhand died two years ago of old age and plays a song in tribute to him. I actually witnessed that in my own playthrough as of patch 1.04.

There's also a Samurai album in V's apartment near the couch despite V not recognizing Johnny or knowing who is when they meet. One of the dialogue options in response to Jonny telling V who he is is "Is that name supposed to mean something to me?"

This was obviously a completely different game as few as two years ago.
Oh yeah, no doubt. It feels like some middle management type saw the Keanu thing and went 'Base the entire game around him'. The whole project just fucking stinks of awful mismanagement.

Also basically confirms the New Game Plus promise was bunk from the start and probably isn't coming. Easy fix is to just use a trainer on PC I guess, but for console players you're (once again) fucked.
AHAHAH

....

AHAHHAHAHAAHHAHA

Holy fucking shit, my sides.

Problem: "Saves over 8 MB are completely corrupted" Solution: "Don't Play." Oh my God. How do you fuck up this badly? Are you retarded? There's no fucking hope for modding this thing. Its held together even worse than Bethesda games. Jesus. To not even make this fucking train wreck a sandbox is fucking retarded.

Its honestly getting hard for me to continue playing, as I'm getting bored with the weapons and the samey strategy (Sneak, Breach, Suicide > Cyberpsychosis > Short Circuit > Synapse Burn). The three slots only is fucking killing me too. I'm switching entirely too much.

I'm also noticing more glitches as I go on, which makes sense with the save file thing. It kind of feels like as your save gets bigger, the game gets buggier. They've completely destroyed their reputation over this. One game, all that goodwill, completely obliterated because with this, it is clear they do not give a fuck.

I get nostalgia and kinda wanting to be bethesda where people buy the same game for 10 years, but replicating their ps3 "features" is a bit much...

dnd and most games of that type have decades of official material they can just plunder for stories. fuck they could basically plagiarize shadowrun at this point, it's not like cyberpunk as a genre is something novel.
turns out you still need some talent for writing, maybe they should learn to code. thinking about it, maybe they tried, it would explain so much...

lol at anyone acting like CDPR is going to go bankrupt after a terrible launch or get successfully sued for features not being in a game. Ubisoft and EA would be dead ages ago if that were true.

ah yes, those notorious guys who constantly get their games kicked off the biggest console storefront during christmas season, leaving the only option to either buy a copy retail (during corona no less) or get it send to you in a few days, because nothing drives impulse purchases like that. it's not like they need those sales anyway with their broad portfolio and all those different games they're cooking up right now...

so, how much stock do you own? apparently investors and shareholders are all gullible idiots who give companies free money without asking for anything in return, so you're right they probably don't care about the current PR shitshow. the game will keep selling millions like they always do (breaking 20 million next month, just wait!) and making all the money back and then some in the future, no need to worry, CD projekt will easily find money all the money they need if they have to in the future because we all know money grows on trees.

here's a nice little smootbrain bedtime story for you, it's about a struggling company that is also publicly traded, but never gets bought out or taken over, since they're all friends! nono you see, they only go bankrupt and their games stop getting made, no one would want to pick up the assets that still hold value or, you know, an established store front in case you want to compete with steam, because that's another thing their friends never want to do.

hope you like your next witcher and gog run by microsoft, ea or tencent. lol, right?

You realize I was referring to someone, in this thread, saying that they might go bankrupt, right? Doing financial analysis of whether a company is going to fail a week after a bad game launch is kind of premature.

and you realize CDP isn't a AAA publisher (even when they tried very hard to be one) with just dance or sportsball games keeping them afloat, right? this isn't "just a bad launch", in case you missed it you can't even buy the game right now on PSN. that's basically a launch that didn't happen, at least not digitally when it comes to playstation when even the people that want to buy it can't without jumping through hoops. during fucking christmas season with the holidays coming up, literally THE timeframe where people have surplus money + free time. your customers simply can't spend money on your product even when they want to (the few that still want to after the "bad game launch"), during a health crisis which keeps people at home. that's money they'll never make, on top of losing trust and their market value going down.

or, to put it differently:
"thq isn't going to fail after the launch of a single periphery device for the wii-u"

Dude, it's only been a week. It's been two days since Sony removed the game. We have absolutely no idea what's going on behind closed doors and we have no idea what the sales numbers are for the game sans refunds.

So I am now over 50 hours into the game and the bugs and glithest are still there being annoying as fuck.
However, on the story side, it is really fucking good.
One of the side missions is really fucking terrifiyng with the implications.
In a mission where you do jobs for a candidate who is running for major, you find out that someone have manged to get into their brain and modifying their personality for their own need. Making them forget certen things, getting to them to do other. It is horrifying that we may reach such a point in our future. I have not finish the quest line yet, but I am digging it.
You can say whatever you want about the game, but I find the story bit to be so damn good that I can overlook parts of it. To a point.

Indeed. There's still the 500k people currently playing on steam. The PSN removal is a big hit, but suggesting it'll make the whole company fold is premature and unfounded. Lost a big chunk of money, not all the money.

The fact the game isn't the masterpiece it was hyped up as doesn't change that a lot of people on other platforms still enjoy it.

Ubisoft and EA never lost half of their total evaluation in less than 2 weeks

Best case scenario CDRP gets bought out by xbox or some other pig pockets shitter and spent the rest of their existence cracking out sequels and shovelware

CDPR are a billion dollar company, they aren't going bankrupt or getting bought out because of one bad game launch. Stop being retarded guys.

If I were CDPR I'd immediately announce The Ciri Witcher game they were teasing
You're thinking too small. Go BIGGER

"From everyone here at CD Projekt Wrecked to all the fans who have supported us for years, first let us [groveling apology]. In light of [downplay massive travesty] we have heard that [downplay rumors of encroaching death], however we want prove our love for those who love us--and the Witcher! We are proud to announce a game our A Team has been working on in secret in pre-development for over a year now, a game set in the rich world you've all come to love with characters both familiar a new and an adventure unlike anything that came before, an adventure all your own...

[cue concept art slides and random dialogue lines recorded on short notice by the original Witcher cast]

"Introducing Witcher FanService Game {Title Not Final), an action-adventure RPG where YOU are one of the last Witchers in all of Rivellon [whatever the world's name is]. Set in the mysterious time when Ciri journeyed to stop the White Mist from freezing the planet, you are a nameless soul of whatever race/gender you choose, left for dead along the road after having been transported to the frozen wastes by a terrible clash of whatever who cares portals and Ciri saves you, but can only do so by making you a Witcher!

"Train under Ciri and travel with her through portals and other worlds to stop the Whiteness or else you'll lose everything to the evil snows. Along your journey you'll meet an assortment of other richly written characters--

[hastily drawn concept art of elves and crap with dialogue from mediocre TV actors]

"Gather your party and venture into the whatever to kill the thing while growing closer to romantic love interests we'll cobble together please don't hate us we'll give you cummies you can even romance Ciri please. This is an all-new original adventure, a story and fate to be written by YOUR hands, filled with mystery, dread and incredible surprises!"

[screen goes black as some jackass does an evil laugh and then a picture of Ciri's face looking shocked as she screams "Ereden?!!"]

"In-depth character customization, full 3rd Person perspective, branching quests and richly written side quests to get utterly lost in! This is YOUR adventure, YOUR journey, and you won't be doing it alone!"

[cut to black again with a voice clip of Geralt saying something pithy]

"Witcher RPG Whatever, coming 202X! Please love us!
Signed,
CD Projekt Retching"

And just like that there'd be endless "CD PROJEKT RED REDEMPTION ARC" videos for the next three years straight.

Yeah, there are some legit good side missions I've seen. I'm guessing a lot of these were carry over from a previous build that didn't require many re-writes for Keanu.

The main story isn't that bad until the ending IMO. Even the ending itself isn't *terrible* but it just feels like it wasn't well thought out.

How many bad launches did it take nasa to get defunded?

This whole debacle is really making me wonder what the hell happened to the game industry the past 10 years or so?

I remember back in the day, games always looked better than their pre-release footage and coverage. Yeah, there was always cut content, but most of the time we didn't know about it until after release. In many cases many years later when only dedicated fans started going through the code.

It feels like something changed in the 2010's and I really can't figure out why publishers and developers continue to do this. It isn't even just revealing conceptual stuff that gets scrapped, but games generally *look* far better before they are released. The first time I remember really noticing it was with GTA V. The first trailer had way more trees and little details compared to the released game on both generations. Then there is of course the most famous example with Watch Dogs. That arguably had the excuse of "they didn't know how powerful PS4/Xbox One would actually be and overshot it." but I think that's BS as these companies have to be giving developers at least some idea of what their systems will actually be capable of.

It just feels so counter productive to me, especially in an industry that has ridiculously high development costs as is.
