Derek creates things by just smashing ideas together and seeing what happens. His apparent innocence is enviable. Cool Cat Saves the Kids was cobbled together from multiple short films he'd made prior (Cool Cat Stops Bullying, Cool Cat Finds a Gun, Cool Cat in the Christmas Parade). Apparently the original actor who portrayed Cool Cat bounced and left Derek to voice the character on his own so Derek did the only reasonable thing and completely retooled and ADR'd the entirety of Cool Cat's lines himself for the "Director's Cut" of Cool Cat Saves the Kids. Also he voices Dirty Dog too because he can't get anyone to do that character either. On top of that Derek performs all of the songs in the Cool Cat movies because again he seems to not want to hire or be able to afford to hire actual talent giving us such gems as "Cool Cat Rap Master".

Cool Cat gradually becoming a one man show has proven to be a little funny but I think I preferred it when Derek wasn't spreading himself too thin and other people where along for the ride just to get a paycheck.

At this point, Derek's probably going to make "Cool Cat Stops the Writers Strike" or "Cool Cat Helps Ukraine" or some other bullshit Limp Bizkit shit
