Couldn't have written it any better. I've been on the darker side of the internet for 10 years, maybe more than that it was sometime during the Project Chanology/Scientology fiasco. And yet I don't know how to find vile images of children. Because I'm not a perv.

It's not like Google will just happily find you kiddy porn, you gotta be hunting for that shit. Dan Olsen falls into the same category of weirdness as Pete Townsend of The Who.

Chomo Dan's wasn't as bad as Townshend. The stuff he uploaded to 8ch was legal in the United States. It was creepy, and exactly the kind of material pedophiles like to keep around precisely because it gives them something legal to masturbate to, kind of like Michael Jackson's collection of child-naturist magazines.

Townshend straight up paid for access to watching child rape online with a credit card. He came up with some obviously phony cover story about his motivations. I'm pretty sure he was telling the truth about being sexually abused. But most rockers of his time were sleeping with underage groupies. Songs about older men fucking underage girls (even the ones who prefered boys didn't sing about boys) were a staple of rock and roll for decades, and the affairs many rockers had with underage girls -- and boys, in the cases such as Michael Jackson's -- are a matter of record. There's no reason why anyone on Earth should give Townshend the benefit of the doubt.

But, if I'm not mistaken, the images Olsen downloaded and reposted to 8ch WERE illegal in Canada, which is his home country. The whole thing is extremely funny, disgusting, and despicable.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't Dan that uploaded the kiddie porn to 8ch, that's the broken telephone of internet rumours.

It's believed that Laurelai Bailey was the one that set up the board and uploaded the CP to 8chan (they did an IP trace and it matched the sjwiki and other websites belonging to LB), tipped off Dan, who then downloaded and reuploaded edited versions of the CP as part of his expose.

Though technically speaking the CP did not qualify as CP in the country where the servers were located, but it was in Dan and Laurelai's.

He isn't so far that we know of. He just uploaded and/or downloaded CP, or at least pictures of kids that, while legal in the U.S., were probably illegal in Canada. I'm not sure, since I never saw what he actually posted other than blurred out.

The law doesn't care about that distinction, though. He posted what he claimed to be illegal CP and admitted he had browsed it deliberately. That would make him a sex offender where he lives.

He knew where to find child porn and he downloaded child porn.

It’s enough for me to convict Dan Olson. I don’t know how else you could stomach either of those acts if you’re not a pedophile. Being blinded by social justice is not a sufficient excuse.
