He may not be wrong. Much like Chris Chan, Larson is pretty clearly a deeply mentally ill retard. Most such retards don't actually end up in Federal Custody for bomb threats mixed with a history of violence against fast food outlets and Malls. Whil rare. There are still a few psychiatric institutions where they can banish the criminally insane. Danny has greatly upped his chances of an extended stay in one. How long does anybody think Danny's Public Defender is willing to even stay in the same room with him? Does anybody think he can meaningfully help or participate in his own defense? The only thing he has going for him is he was likely flagged as "too crazy for genpop". So he might, for the moment have a room to himself in the Chatteau le Nutbag wing of the Federal Detention Center.

Dan's not quite as insane as some people think. If you watch video of him, he never acts out when there are cops or other real authority figures present. He knows the difference between them and mall cops and security guards, because he will fight rent-a-cops but not real cops. That shows a good degree of understanding about the law and what he can get away with. He has had several court appearances already and there are no reports of him freaking out in those, he just sits quietly and pleads guilty. The feds would have interrogated him already and would only have pressed charges if they thought they could stick. He has the capacity to stand trial, he understands the difference between right and wrong. He called the threats in a fit of rage, but being angry is not a defence against crimes - "yes I killed him, but in my defence he really pissed me off". His PD will get him a plea deal and he'll do maybe a year in the nutcase wing, not because he's criminally insane but because the other lags will push his buttons and he'll start fights.

The weens, though. They're so fucked when they get interrogated. There's been a lot of bravado, but in the end these aren't street thugs who ain't scared of no popo, these are broccoli-haired trust fund frat boys whose idea of getting into trouble is crashing their dad's BMW. They're so fucked and I'm here for it.

He was both. He had the evidence and materials that he was attempting to build bombs in the basement. He just wasn't all that bright with it.

Dumb enough to do it and dumb enough to be dangerous with it by doing it incorrectly and making it a hazard to himself and others.

He was in prison for like 10+ years.

Like this Larson guy they arrested for this shit, better have one hell of a lawyer. They take this kind of thing very, very, seriously.
