Let's Sperg Darkest Dungeon Let's Sperg: Part 2 - A Quest of Autism and Lovecraftian Horror

I wouldn't be so sure. Red Hook has also done acts of phenomenal retardation as well.
Quad era demonstratum: The Musketeer.

For the uninitiated, this is a backers-only class that can pop up as an Arbalest clone. She has her own unique barks, roster attributes, and abilities, and the game even counts her as a separate class, but she's basically an alternate Arbalest. She was initially only available to backers. Very quickly it was found that the only thing keeping her content out of the hands of literally everyone else was a single line of code and some files. Modders immediately found ways to make her available, and for the most part, nobody fucking cared. PC Master Race, motherfuckers, and Dankmeme Dungeon already supported modding. The mod was out for almost a year and a half with no problems.

You'd think any problems with this would be over.
You would be wrong.

After one patch, after incessant bitching by a very, very small number of backers, Red Hook altered the code. Now the Musketeer enabler mod was incompatible with the game. If you got one already, the game wouldn't take her away from you, ditto her trinkets, but otherwise, you would never see them again. It also DMCA'd the mod entirely, to prevent her from being re-enabled. This is bad enough, but this also locked out both legitimate backers and people who got her via promotional codes. The community started to ask questions, mostly along the lines of "Why would you do this?" And Red Hook answered that they didn't want to fuck over the initial backers who got her as a reward.

It needs be noted that this double fucked over the modding community. People just using the Musketeer is one thing, but there was an entire mod that modified the Musketeer's skills to make her much more her own class. It made her a lot different in feel and setup, and the result was a character you felt good about sharing a roster with the Arbalest class without their being overlap. This mod, too, got royally fucked over by this change.

A poll was quickly held questioning the existing backers if the Musketeer Mod was a big deal. Like close to 90% of the existing backers said they didn't mind. The remaining 10% were complete autists who would not shut the fuck up over it, and were autistic to the degree that the mod's never been put back up to this day.

But we're not over, not by any stretch. Earlier this year, Dankmeme Dungeon released on PS4. When it did, guess what fucking class it had?

The Musketeer. Hundreds of fucking people wound up getting her - before Red Hook said that her being in the game was an error, and locked her out. Once again, if you got her before they said no, good for you - you were fine. Otherwise, you'll never see them again.

Common chant is that the Musketeer variant mod and the Musketeer herself will be in the DLC just to fucking end the Autism, but for now, this class is the only thing more controverisal than Pepes of historical figures.

I really hope the Musketeer isn't the new class they were talking about. From what I heard they were only releasing one new class. It would be shitty if they released old content calling it "new".

I think they intend to unlock the Musketeer and add a new class besides.

Holy fuck, I can't say if this is terrible luck or great luck. I found THREE shamblers. In a row. One altar, one encounter, and another altar. The RNG really wants to test my patience.

Edit: My BH had Curious and he interacted with the altar, so just two. But in a row. What are the odds, anyways?

I managed to beat the two bosses I had left and get through Level 1 of the Darkest Dungeon.
The cannon was a fairly easy fight, although it took a while. Used a Hound Master, Bounty Hunter, Plague Doctor, and an Occultist to stun the backrows, take out the matchman, mark the cannon, and slowly whittle it down.
The Drowned Crew were absolute pushovers, because I had the luck to have my two frontliners become Virtuous. Used a Hellion, Bounty Hunter, Occultist, and Arbalist marking party.
The first DD quest was fucking intense. Bounty Hunter, Hound Master, Plague Doctor, and Occultist. By the end of it all four of them had become afflicted and three were on deaths door. No deaths though (the Occultist ended up dying a few missions later in the Warrens in the first battle due to blight.)

Look, I did a thing.

Both Reynauld and Dismas made it out.

Also, I made this

I might actually make this a full mod, currently it's just on the battle animations.

@Jaimas The DLC is coming out in a couple of weeks. Are we going to continue after you've familiarised yourself with it?

Considering that, Jaimas, will any of us Kiwis that didn't die to the final boss be used as sacrifices if that happens?

Depends on how big an expansion it is.

If it's huge like xbox, I may start the team over and go from there.

If it's smaller, we'll see a continuation of the misadventures of the (the) Kiwi Farms Estate.

I hope to christ they don't do that shit again. It's bullshit and easily the worst part of the game.

I'm honestly ok with the idea of the one sacrifice but having multiple is weird to me. It would be cool to have the sacrificed character have more impact on the game though, like changing the ancestor's statue in the square to them or something of that nature.

I'm curious if you want to learn the DLC inside out and try and get us through it as unscathed as the main campaign or just go into and see what happens?

Reminder that you always have the leper strats. What I wonder is if you could try it with a Highwayman with tracking shot and doctors. The crit part would be secured. You still need a decent damage roll, though.

Crimson Court is out now. I’m trying out the new area: the courtyard. Here’s what I’ve found so far:

The zone tends to favor high damage dealing and bleeding mobs. Stress and blight is less significant.

You’re outside, so you don’t need to bring torches, though you might want to anyway, since there are some curious that can be burned for a burst of stress relief.

Enemies sometimes drop Blood, a new sort-of consumable item. Don’t use it on your characters unless they’re infected with the Crimson Curse.

Speaking of, the Crimson Curse allows you to consume Blood for a buff. The more often you do it, the bigger the buff, but your characters also become more dependent on it. It can’t be cured at the sanitarium.

The first stage of the courtyard is listed as “short”. That is a fucking lie. It's only short because you're not bringing firewood. Expect to be in there a while.

Like the Darkest Dungeon, there are four stages on your way through the Courtyard, rather than just random missions for the other zones. You’ll need an invitation if you want to get to the later stages.

Also, with regard to the latest patch:

Afflictions are a bit nastier; they can make your characters attack one another, and even force you to retreat.

There’s a new DOT called Horror; it deals Stress over time rather than damage. Laudanum, which is sold by the provisioner for 100 gold, cures it.

You can enter the dungeon with less than a full party now!

I wonder what happens when they become maximally dependant on blood.

Horror was already in the game, the fucking fiddler enemy inflicted it.

This said, expect a new thread for the new expansion.
