To this day I am convinced that Phil dropped the Apex streams and avoids co-op like the plague forever after because one of the people he streamed with was an actually retarded fan LutherKujo and that made him realize that any time he plays with random fans there's a better than average chance they could be mentally deficient and people will start to see a pattern.

I forgot about that. But I feel like he'd vet any fans doing things with him to weed out the actual retards.

I feel like his Apex partners (despite being kinda retarded) having more personality than him is what made him stop. I remember his chat asking when those guys would be back because they carried the Apex streams by having actual personalities compared to paint drying Phil.

Regardless, I don't think Phil has ever truly forgiven Rambo for (in his eyes) ruining coop stuff and so won't let anyone else have a cut in his content. Look at how poorly he handles sharing the spotlight with his wife.

Honestly, I don't know what Mike was thinking. The writing was on the wall from day one. Phil only associates with people he directly benefits from, and if the gravy train runs dry, he hot-hoofs it out of there.
Mike just didn't know him like everybody else did, and to his credit, he was able to enter the snortfort and have diner with the guy. That's further than most get.

I appreciate his effort, but sadly this was the only way the documentary arc would end.

I theorize that Mike already saw the writing on the wall before he made his post here and was going on RTU's stream. Then it became a shit test to see if Dave was really serious about going through with this.

Boogie says he didn't sign anything with Mike about his documentary

The odds that Phil did the same are higher, hopefully this will teach Mike a lesson about making further documentaries about other lolcows

Im sure the real reasoning is as mundane as others have said, it came down to money and missing days of streaming.

But I wanna go with Mike getting into contact with Panda and doing the math on when they made contact. He relayed to Phil they spoke, and Phil probed about what and mike said it was the basics, when they met , etc, and that was enough to spook Phil.

Phil is stupid, but even he knows being labeled a groomer would be the final nail in the coffin. Fatso would still stay with him, but his support would dry up faster than Khet’s Cooch at the salad buffet.

You all know the day will come where Khet is the bread winner in the house as he decides doing the ice bucket challenge will be the thing to revive his YouTube career.

Ok, but the most important question is this:

How can we turn this into a shitty analogy about a sandwich shop?

Edited because I typed metaphor when I meant analogy.
Imagine there’s a sandwich shop, and there is a socially inept literal retarded guy working behind the counter for fifteen years. A man walks in and says, “hello good sir, I would like to make a documentary about you and your sandwich shop”

The dude behind the counter says, “yes! As long as you don’t mention my many fuck ups”

The documentarian says, “what do you mean, buddy?”

The guy sighs and laments, “Well I burned all the food, I spent all the money I made on toys and statues, I never upgraded my equipment, when I couldn’t afford my previous building’s lease I bought a new place that’s three times as big , I never cleaned my workstation, I never pay the people who design the menus, I never kept a record of my profits or losses, when people asked for new sandwiches I called them ‘fucking idiots,’ and every once in a while I take this tin cup at the register and shake it at my customer’s faces for tips.”

The documentarian replies, “okay, so what have you done that’s good?”

The guy smugly smiles and proclaims, “I invented the first grilled cheese over fifteen years ago.”

The documentarian says, “but didn’t this guy down the street do it before you?”

The guy becomes incensed and yells, “Yeah? But I don’t toast my grilled cheese. Mine is just white bread and cheese.”

To be honest I would have liked DSP to be the follow up Boogie.
Boogie’s story is of a pathetic loser who milks his misfortunes.
Phil story is of a pathetic loser who manages to fail upwards despite all odds being against him. If anything it’d make for a good contrast.

The sandwich shop owner is approached by Gordon Ramsey to be featured in an episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" but pulls out after realizing it will not be a puff piece. Despite going in knowing full well that the premise of the show is to point out the failures of the restaurant owner.

We finally solved the mystery of where Ramsey got the idea for his "Ultimate grilled cheese" from.

So the entire time he was planning this, talking with Mike, going over scheduling, all the bullshit he was talking about in preparation, it never _once_ occurred to him that it might not portray him in the blindingly positive light in which he seems himself? It took some long-time fan e-mailing him out of the blue (another one of these fucking phantom e-mails he'll never share) for him to realize this and torpedo the whole thing? What bullshit.

Also him shitting on the Turkey Tom video because it was filled with "detractor" content when it was 99% straight-up videos from his own history is unreal.

God, this dude sucks.

This is a myth. DSP has never made as much money since 2011-2012. He's steadily failing downwards since then.
He was making more than 9-10k a month in 2011? Like, I know Youtube was a lot more loose with money back then but his followers on twitch are retardedly generous.

Phil lives in a fantasy world where he's a hilarious comedian, a great public speaker, has a beautiful singing voice, has a physique that hints of being an ex-bodybuilder, and isn't like those corny children's entertainer videogame youtubers but instead makes meaningful content where friendly inviting community members learn life lessons and grow together. He's a mature adult with a rich family life and who runs his own wildly successful business from his office, has always stayed true to his vision while never selling out, and is happier than ever after overcoming far more hurdles and struggles than ninety nine percent of the population.

He thinks the only reason others don't see this is because they've been poisoned by the bevy of detractor content, which is all lies and slander from mentally ill people, and if those trolls didn't exist he would be as successful as Pewdiepie and everyone would love him and he'd probably be co-hosting the Game Awards next to Geoff Keighley.

I buy that he genuinely thought the documentary would show him in a good light because of these delusions. He thinks any completely neutral showcase would be positive because he is such a great and funny guy. Finally a true and honest video on him without the bias, basically an extended deboonk pre-stream presented as a collab project with a trusted neutral party. I think some of the creepier whales got into his ear for whatever reason and played on his narcissism - that his "story" wasn't over yet and this documentary would be a "swan song", and he was like "yeah I'm not done yet, I haven't hit my peak yet" and all the excuses he gave for dropping the doc were just bullshit.

Probably. Phil is either the best actor ever (which we know he isn't) or he legitimately believed that the Sidescrollers interview went well and he came off great until a bunch of people told him otherwise and he immediately changed his tune.

Phil is very naive and gullible and, as much as he likes to say otherwise, will often just go with the flow/what he hears. I think it's because of how much time he's spent as a hermit, he hasn't had real social interaction in so long he just takes everything at face value as long as it isn't challenging him/it's what he wants to hear. I honestly think Mike approaching him was as easy as him emailing and saying "I want to make a positive and fair documentary about you." And Phil 100% believed it. Then when he finally realized it might only be 99% or less positive, he decided it was unacceptable and jumped ship.

Whether it was a fan or Mike saying something Phil didn't like/couldn't control is up for debate. Phil likes to lean on the email angle because it makes him sound like a man of the people, and he isn't doing it for himself, he's doing it to appease his fans. But we do know he has at least some email correspondence with dents, so it isn't impossible. Might have been someone who was worried about Mike looking into the fans or something so they threatened to pull support and that caused Phil to panic. Maybe OIC said something, it feels like he's been extra desperate for attention lately and trying to leech it from both sides. I'm still leaning towards Mike revealed more of his plans to contact other people and Phil freaked out, not because they really had anything juicy or new to say, but he lost the control he thought he had and realized it wasn't a propaganda film.
