And the ugly-as-sin black/pinoy kidsprobably creaming himself over the non-binary bot
I’d ignored DoA for so long that I didn’t know Becky was an actual character. The first time I saw her in a comic I thought she was such a brilliant satirical caricature of Willis’ characters, and that what I was looking at was a really well-done edit.Pleb pretty much nailed how utterly insufferable this asshole's characters are.

And he's never really progressed as an artist
The funny thing is that in the original verse, Becky was much nicer and more of a "what if Joyce had stayed a sheltered Christian instead of fighting aliens" character. This was also how she was in early DoA. The new Becky came about when Willis realized he could write a giant asshole and hide behind the LGBT shield whenever he was criticized.I’d ignored DoA for so long that I didn’t know Becky was an actual character. Leave it to Willis to be utterly beyond parody.
I fucking hate people that hop with skates.I haven't thought about Walky/Short packed/Willis in ages. I don't know if I've seen any recent threads on him on /co in a while. It sounds like he hasn't trannsed out like Greg from Real Life, so all I want to know is if Mary is still best girl?
Redhead reminds me of a combination of Becky, Ruth, and Lucy. It's pretty much Joyce. You are only reminded of Mary because that's how Mary would react, which is incidentally how any normal person would react. Pleb wanted to channel the normal person, which just happened to align with Mary.
But Willis doesn't believe Mary is a normal person, or that normal people would behave like Mary.
Whoa, this is Meta as fuck.
Edit: There is a second part of this strip where the Redhead Canadian Asshole expy comes to berate the wrongthink, so maybe it IS Mary.
And ended up neither.I miss when Willis just told dumb jokes. Early Shortpacked showed that he was capable of being pretty funny when he wanted to be.
Too bad he decided he didn't want to be funny, he wanted to be Important™.
LOSS is powerful and timelessOf all the people that made it big from the webcomic boom, how the fuck is it that Tim Goddamn Buckley made it out the most unscathed?
He didn't chimp out (well not much anyway) and turn into an utter lolcow. His worst sin was just kind of lazy cartooning.Of all the people that made it big from the webcomic boom, how the fuck is it that Tim Goddamn Buckley made it out the most unscathed?
Funnily enough, his reaction to loss.jpg itself is probably contributory towards his staying power. He acknowledged it was a direction people didn't like, he quietly altered course and more or less kept his mouth shut about it. Then after a reasonable amount of time had passed, he was able to laugh about it and even lean into the joke to a degree. I could imagine an event like loss.jpg laying low many other webcomic artists. Like the time Jeph Jacques got drunk and knifed up his own hand because he got criticism that he didn't draw a character 'fat enough'.LOSS is powerful and timeless

Didn't he send pictures of his penis to a 16 year old?He didn't chimp out (well not much anyway) and turn into an utter lolcow. His worst sin was just kind of lazy cartooning.
