He's trying to skip a somewhat buggy open-world zombie survival game with mockable cutscenes and a lot of time spent looting and driving from place to place.

That's the perfect storm of buzzwords that he likes for a main stream on release day and night streams for the next two weeks. But he wants to skip it for no reason other than it got some 7s on metacritic. So weird.

The website broke, so here's a welcome back gift. I didn't care enough to make the face match better, all you get is a curves and hue/sat adjustment.

I honest to goodness do not understand this mans "business sense." Days Gone is not a bad game. Are there bugs, yes. Is it a little rough in presentation, yes. Is it fun. Absolutely. Especially played on HARD. It is the only single player game in Twitch top streams and likely will be there for awhile. Skipping the game because "a few people" said some thing is so idiotic, especially when the alternative is him raging and complaining at MK11 online.

. . .and for a guy who suggests people not be sheep and listen only to reviewers, he sure did get sheeped into listening to reviewers.

Phil asked someone to donate the game directly by sending the code to download, he won't buy it if tipped sixty bucks due to being taxed for it. Also said no guarantees for a full playthrough if donated.

I see zero incentive for anyone to part ways with their money for such an unenthusiastic fat fuck to play it twice.

So when the paid shills get a game early and say it's bad, they are right. When the paid shills get a game early and say it's good, they are idiots.

Seems like sound reasoning.

Yeah, don't you sign up for this when you go down this career path? You're going to have to play some games you normally wouldn't want to play in order to draw in viewers.

Regardless of Days Gone flaws, it's likely going to be one of the bigger and more anticipated releases for this year. Phil's forgoing a great opportunity to draw in viewers by not playing this game immediately.

Can't really count on Phil filling in for a games weaknesses and playing up its strengths. Seems the game is story heavy in some ways so he can sit back and let the game carry him for a moment. The traveling segments he could take the time to turn his head 45 degrees to interact with his chat and do his interactive bullshit segments.

Didn't think a streamer I actually watch would play this. He ended up playing it with low expectations but he absolutely made it work for him and his chat despite it seeming like a slow slog of a game by going point a to point b, beat shit up, loot etc.

Phil is worthless.

Phil said people can't just give him $60 to play Days Gone because he would have to "pay a ton of taxes" on receiving a $60 donation.

it's a ps4 exclusive so lots of people who don't have that system probably want to see the game. I swear DSP does this thing where he skips every game I actually want to see him play. His business strategy is a mind fuck.
Listen to me I'm the average Joe gamer. I tell you the truth with no bullshit

Proceeds to form his opinion based on others and not play the game

From today's pre-stream:

"I didn't get Days Gone based on YOUR feedback and because of the reviews. People told me to skip Days Gone. At this point I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. Now EVERYONE says the exact opposite, that I should play the game!"

"If this week Days Gone goes on sale and will be much cheaper, I'll buy it. So $30 or if someone donates the PSN code. Don't send me $60 because I have to play taxes on that."

So don't send him bits, because it takes too long to get to him. Send him tips, but only in reasonably large amounts to make it worth it because PayPal takes a cut. Don't send him amounts too large, though, because he has to pay taxes on it. Jesus fuck.

This time next year he'll be saying he only accepts tribute in cash, delivered in generic duffel bags to his front door, unmarked and nonsequential bills only. "Ring the bell ONLY ONCE, dood, or else I'm not accepting your donation!"

More "youtuber" reviews are coming out either shilling the game or genuinely enjoying it. Apparently the second half is a lot stronger than the first once you have more abilties/enemy types/plot threads.

Looks like our boy missed out on a game that wasnt getting much twitch competition that would have been as good of/better than his long ass AC playthrough.

He's now backed himself into a corner. His MK11 streams are generating fuck all sums of money and he's used the "well the fans told me not to get it" excuse even though a poll said they did, so if he backs up and purchases this game, he'll look like an asshole even bigger asshole than normal.

Even though he told someone who asked him to "buy the game for me because I'm not made of money anymore."

Traditional reviewers say they don't like it, a lot of youtubers say they do, but also say that the game takes a while to pick up. I said a couple of days ago, almost nobody is playing Days Gone on twitch. At least nobody notable and consistent. MK11 on the other hand is being played by tons of people and some days he will be competing with tournaments. The game is pretty long and offers some decent moments for his fans to enjoy. Watching him bitch about fighting games was enjoyable when he actually gave a shit. He doesn't and it's boring.

Phil plays minecraft and sits in the bathroom on CoD and thinks that Days Gone would be too boring???

If you go to the Twitch Directory right now, Days Gone is three slots ahead of MK11, netting 9.3K total viewers to MK11's 8.4K.

I took this screengrab yesterday
740612

The total viewers for both games are way down since (this could be influenced by the time of day, the weekend, etc.) Anyway, as of writing, Days Gone has since surpassed MK11 (and leapt over CS:GO and Magic: The Gathering in the process.)

From the continued jostling of positions, I'd say the favorable opinion of Days Gone is still contested, but no less competitive against the new release Phil resorted to.

Looks like it must have been being played by a moderately large streamer.

Currently below 10k total, but what matters for Phil is he'd be second in total viewers, as right now the two highest streamers have 900 and 300 viewers.

Meanwhile current top streams for MK are 2 over 1.5k, 700, and 600.

Theres much more competent competition for MK.

Really to me what it boils down to is what Phil values more: money or enjoying his hobby/"""job""". I should note, I can't seem to nail down which one he prioritizes more, since while money obviously makes an unpleasant game much easier for him to swallow, he doesn't get the amount he needs for that dopamine hit nearly as consistently as he needs to maintain a consistently positive attitude. For his mental health he'd be much better off taking a lower payout and sticking with games he enjoys playing*.

It seems like a game with a lengthy single-player campaign that he could sink his teeth into, and that would offer a variety of gameplay and ample opportunities for donations interaction would be right up his alley, even if it doesn't pull in the hatewatchers looking for him to scream at a television about lag and scrub tactics for five hours. Granted I'm biased because I hate playing games with and against other human beings and streaming video games for a living seems like a viable career for about .01% of humanity but what the fuck do I know.

He's worried about a Days Gone playthrough being boring as though everything else he's done lately has been a fucking barnburner. Okay, friendo.

*Whatever games those might be, I'm sure I don't know.
